In future, if you're going to write an important confirmation number down on a bit of paper, write it in the notebook on the desk rather than some random envelope. Doh.

Also, there are better ways to test if your smoke detector is working than forgetting about that pan that's boiling on the cooker...

Is it, by any chance, a wireless doorbell?......Hubby assures me there is a way of changing the frequency in the bell part (as opposed to the button part, before you lot start... )...

Yes it is but it's cheap and work's doorbell...and I've already practically taken the bell part apart but all I can do is alter the volume...so now I just take it as one of the quirks of working in my office.

Stuff is now sorted!!! Hehe talked to housemate moving back to Bath in Feb! Woop Woop!!! :D :D :D But no mention on facebook anyone cause work won't get to know til Jan ;) :P lol

Glad to hear you got it all sorted...sounded like a dilemma so must be a relief now :-) I am pleased for you.

Feeling very old..first borns birthday tomorrow and she is 30...where do the years go ?????

I have no idea, when I find the secret of slowing them down I'll let you know.

Apologies to all who received unexpected and weird hugs from me...I didn't do it...facebook malfunction!!!

I didn't get one!!!!

Bit sad now lol!!

Me either, don't think she loves us!

Gave application into The Nags Head today :)).

Well done and good luck! Hope you hear back soon! Make sure to let us know :-). On the positive side, some more vacancies might start coming up now as you get a lot of students leaving for uni in September, who have to leave their summer jobs or whatever to do so! Good luck hon !

a trip to the public house tonight methinks

Aaaah I wondered where you'd got to and this also explains why when I turned my PC on this morning, you'd MSN'd me just after 11...I'm guessing it's why, anywho...?

does anyone know how to report users to Youtube who PM you abuse?

Couldn't understand my own question when i first read it! But seems those of you who responded understood, so that is a good thing (yet worrying for you!)

I reported "you know who" days ago but i haven't heard anything back yet so good luck!!

Interesting, i have several abusive pms from him. He makes me laugh, cos he is so pathetic;)LOL..

Yeah his patheticness amused me to a certain extent, but then I thought, why the hell should he be allowed to get away with being so abusive towards people. His videos all require authorisation before messages can be posted there, which means he filters them, and I'm sure writes half of them himself anyway. And then he goes around slandering other tribute acts who are undeniably better (and also better people) than he is. He goes around saying he's the number one act and it concerns me that people might believe it, or think Meat Loaf is anything like him! But above all, he shouldn't be allowed to get away with abusing people online in the manner in which he does.

cant be bothered any more..what goes round comes round..:lol::lol:

I really hope so...but if he gets banned completely from Youtube it'll be no bad thing ;) (especially when it comes to searching for Meat related vids!)

I like the caring side and the nurturing them back to health but I couldn't be a nurse, too squimish.

~Helen~
30 Aug 2008, 14:31
lol I'm the same. would be the worst nurse ever as the patients would be having to pick me up off the floor. I can't even watch casualty / ER etc - and I KNOW it's not real!

hmm...no animal sanctuaries / RSPCA type places near you then? not that I'm trying to find you a job, just that you seem enthusiastic about it. I have a friend whose part time job whilst he was at uni was at a dogs kennels - cleaning the kennels, feeding the animals, walking them etc. He loved it - and now he's left has his own dog and cat which he idolises!

AndrewG
30 Aug 2008, 15:03
While checking alignment they decided to drive my car into one of their concrete poles. Damage on side panels. It could have been a lot worse I guess. I can still drive it but car looks like shit now. Furthermore they managed to snap of one of the wheel bolts so I am driving on 3 brand new tires and have a brand new tire in the boot and need to go to Mazda dealer to get old bolt drilled out. Another £100 quid on top of £330 quid for tires and god knows how much for body repairs. I estimate £1000, I should get that back though.

Sorry to hear about your car. Why do people do that?!!!!

~Helen~
30 Aug 2008, 15:16
OMG! That's terrible, I hope you don't have to foot the bill considering they caused the damange :-(

And I dunno why my car got done this time...last time I suspect it's because somebody objected to me being parked outside their house. Bugs me that people who live in terraces consider they have some ultimate right to park outside their own house (in my job I am regularly receiving calls from people complaining about vehicles parked outside their houses!) - and yes I KNOW it's annoying if you can't park outside your house but if you buy a terrace without parking and own a car that's something you have to factor into the equation. And before anyone says anything, I'm buying a terrace. It doesn't have parking. I don't expect to be able to have my car right outside my house at all times (although I'll be cycling to work...which will help with parking!)

AndrewG
30 Aug 2008, 15:24
Yeah I fully understand that. It's one of those things that always put me of terraced houses, but to do that keying is just . Whoever did that, if that person attempted something like that again while the ownder of the car would see he/she could be in big trouble.

I feel that the open day went well and has inspired me to persue my dream (well one of them, my biggest and longest has been to go to Graceland but that is another thing altogether  ) and work with animals, the nice male nurse that mum and I spoke to let me know of a course that we certainly haven't heard of before called the ANA course which has currently escaped me now but it allows me to work and get paid and go to colleage once a week and that seems feesable. Also I need to look over my colleage stuff because in that I have certain things that would be of interest for this line of work, I have washed and bathed a cat, as I remember it didn't like it but it's a skill I can add, I have mucked out an avery and cleaned kennals and all this I need to jot down and with help need to present this in a letter which I can give into vets.
So all in all I feel it was a very good day and another thing he said is that I shouldn't let anyone tell me that I need to have qualifications because I don't, and yes GCSE's came at really the wrong time for me so I don't have good grades. But I feel like there is a whole new world there now :)).

Feeling incredibly mean at the moment because there's a fair amount of repairs needed on the house I'm buying so I have to ask the vendors for a reduction in the price. I know they're not made of money...but neither am I and when you're buying a house, every little counts! :-(

On the bright side though, I've found someone willing to give me around 130 house bricks (80 brand new, rest used but clean enough) for free which I'm picking up tonight. :D Is it incredibly sad that I'm excited about this? The wall in the roof space between myself and my neighbours is partially missing and needs rebuilding - hence the bricks...I'm looking forward to becoming the UK's most unlikely bricklaying apprentice, and I'm roping my dad in (who isn't a brick layer, but has built walls quite succesfully, so it'll do) to teach me!

Other than those thoughts...would it be really student-ish to eat ice cream for breakfast? It's just I'm hungry, and have no food, but there's a box of cornettos (for general consumption) in work's freezer...

allrevvedup
02 Sep 2008, 11:05

I used to work in a doctor's surgery - the way repeat prescriptions work is you get to order a certain amount of prescriptions without needing an appointment with the doctor - it should say on the repeat form. You then send the form into the docs when you need the repeat, that orders the prescription, signed by the doc without you needing the appointment. Most of the big chemists offer a service where they will collect the prescription from the surgery for you and make it up and you collect the drugs from them without needing to set foot in the surgery at all. You should be able to put a note on the repeat form asking them to send it straight to the chemist (I know Boots do this, the Lloyds Pharmacy in the town I worked in also offered the same service) and then just put the form through the surgery's letterbox - it's probably a good idea to stick it in an envelope marked 'Repeat Prescription Request'.

You could also try contacting the chemist you'd take the 'script to and asking if they offer the service, they may have a list they collect from the surgery, and at least that way you'll know where to pick it up from!

Does any of that make sense?

That prescription business doesn't sound too attractive...all we have to do is call pharmacy and they will re-use the same prescription automatically for as many repeats (refills) as doctor ordered on initial prescription...

Better go and get ready.

And there was me thinking i was getting a bum deal having to sit with casey at 3am the other morning

Well so anyway...my car got keyed again last thursday (this time on the boot)...and oh again yesterday...again on the boot, right above last week's scratch. At least the scratches won't get lonely now! I wonder if it would be considered inappropriate to deliver notices to the residents of that street (was parked in a very similar place both occasions) informing them that the road outside their house does not belong to them, and so long as I have paid my road tax and am not blocking anybody / causing an obstruction / contravening the highway code or any parking restrictions, I can park wherever the hell I like! (and if they do consider they own that particular stretch of road, would they mind please maintaining it better ;))

Yeah but McCain would consider any woman under 60 a "babe"

As for "hockey mom" she made the right speech, whether she'll drag across the hillary voters is another story, I can't really believe america wants another four years of the possibility of more war and more debt but hey that's just me, i think they need to give a younger candidate a chance

if they have a cat or dog...would you not just kidnap it instead and send a ransom note?

You'll probably find it's nothing to do with those in that house but just some idiot that saw it had been keyed before and wanted to try it again

I wouldn't be so sure...it wasn't one of such houses, but there are roughly 4 or 5 houses on that street with signs in their windows saying "don't park here" (or words to that effect)...and on one occasion a grumpy old man came out of a house and asked me if I knew the residents of the street had to park there too...at the time I was buying a house on that street and told him I appreciated that but couldn't park outside the (at that time empty) house I was buying and it was just as much an inconvenience to me ;-). He asked me which house I was buying and immediately started talking about the weather in a very pleasant manner...haha!

You do have to read up a bit more on that...obviously you're missing a few pieces of information...
