Does it really matter if it was mimed or not? I could care less, it was a good performance, at a time when one was needed, and it probably helped sell a few records along the way. I for one enjoyed the performance and have it on my phone so that I can listen to it regularly.

On a side note, I find it interesting that certain people are apparently employed by the Weeten Daas program and were also there mixing the board that night. Because that is the only way that said person could know with "100%" certainty that this, and every other Weeten Daas performance ever done was mimed. I just love when people present opinion as complete fact. Sure, some people probably do mime on the show, but I'm guessing many sing live. I for one believe Meat sang live that night, and I am perfectly content to believe that.

I have been to 4 different shows on this current tour, and I know first hand that he is perfectly capable of delivering a performance on par, if not better than that on Weeten Daas, despite what you and your many bootlegs may think.
Ahhhh overlooked that. so it was a stereo backing track! cool

Yeah if i understand it correctly he is honest and admits it was a playback. Respect for that. To the other guy who says i cant judge if a performance is mimed or not and need to be at the mixing desk in order to do that, is this a joke? seriously??

I read it as a setup similar to the AFL. Band pre recorded while Meat and Patti sing live.

Razor ball, not joking at all. You are presenting an opinion as stone cold fact. If you had stated it as opinion then fair enough, but don't present it as fact

Is this an order? OK General!
No just kidding, I don't see why I should present it as an opinion (I think that etc...) when for a fact I know it. I havent been at the mixing desk, I have been watching the show for 20 years now, and EVERY artist was miming. Some do it well, some don't. Its like TOTP, artists HAVE to mime, they arent even allowed to sing live. On the contrary, on shows like Leno and the other guy I'm forgetting the name, they HAVE to sing live. Wetten Dass is always playback, and if you watch MLs lips closely during AFL, you'll see that you dont have to go through the university of sound engineers to post such a statement.

Sorry but you have no way of having 100 percent knowledge on the matter so that downgrades it from fact to opinion

Side note, I what ToTP?

Top of the Pops, an english show where, like in Wetten Dass, they all mime. Even though there might be a few artists (but very few) who dont mime at TOTP. Wetten Dass, I havent seen a single artist not mime. Call it an opinion or a fact, I won't start a battle here over entertainment!

It sometimes comes to a point on a forum where you have seen the same argument so many times you no longer need to post, just reference your past posts.

Same argument, previous thread, still applies

As Mouse said its already heading down that path....I actually liked the convo to begin with, but it seems to be upsetting people.

Its interested me as well whether or not it was mimed, and will continue to do so forever unless we get answers :P But I'm trying to just not worry about it. It'll just upset Meat.

Only to those of a sensitive / nervous disposition.

If Meat did mime, then I'm not going to think less of him, but I'm interested whether he did or not nonetheless - especially following the AFL final.

Wetten Das is known for having the artist playback their own songs. I don't even think Meat really had a choise. But if it's that sensitive to people, remember he did the live vocals for the recording they used. So basically it's a mime of his own live recording which means everybody is right

OK, enough with the thread crapping please.

Can we continue on topic rather than have the same old debate wether the topic should have brought up in the first place.
All this back and forth is getting us nowhere and will get the thread locked, and as that seems to happen a hell of a lot to "unpopular" threads , i'm feeling more inclined to get the rule book out and give away some free infractions rather than lock it.

If we thought that Wario had crossed the line we would have deleted the thread by now.

If you think something has crossed the line and dosn't belong on the forum, report it to us rather than debate it on the forum.
We will take it from there.

If a thread simply isn't to your taste, ignore it.

As for the subject itself, I agree that it's a great performance, so it doesn't matter a great deal to me if, and to what extent, it was mimed.
I know some TV shows have a lot (if not all) of their musical guests mime, but we've heard what Meat has said, and i'm happy to take him at his word.
After all, he was there
Plus being the last show, i've a feeling they'd want to do something special, and they certainly got it
