Default For Crying Out Loud - DUET???

I would like to know what people would think about For Crying Out Loud being done as a duet.

I thought that perhaps Meat and Patti could alternate on the verses, and on the coda at the end.

I'm not sure about this one Nothing could ever beat the original, Meat belting it out with the orchestra, and I don't think that anyone could recreate the feeling he does when he sings it. However, I have a live version of FCOL ( nice one Ewan ) and there's a tiny bit of harmony on the line For Crying Out Loud, and it's only on that line, and it's really effective! But it is just one line and I don't know that it would have quite the same effect if the whole song was harmonised as a duet

I think that Meat and Patti should try doing it as a duet on the Summer Tour, Meats voice has changed since then and is even better for that type of vocal now. On the NOTP he had a really high vocal range and an orchestra voice, Beautiful!!!! I am seeing him half way into the tour and I am hoping his voice isn't worn down by then. I know that the chances of him performing For Crying Out Loud are very slim, but I can dream.

well, I personally don't think so. meat says when he sings this song, he imagines someone haveing a loss. a loss of something the character loved really much so. i'm beginning to see that image more and more everytime. so NO, I can't see it being a duet. Maybe Patti doing background vocals, on the CODA part. Cause Patti has a beautiful voice, and it deserves to be heard as much as possible. I wouldn't mind hearing Pearl sing another duet. SWEET :) 3 amazing singers.

I voted no. I guess I just can't see that song as a duet. I just think that it would lose something.

I voted no, cause the option 'hell no - and what were you thinking when you thought this up?' was not present.

There is no way it could work, cause first of all - it wasn't written as a duet. You got one person trying to explain something to one other person. Not two people telling eachother something.
Besides: I think the original is as close to perfection as anything Meat has ever done. So why touch it?
If you really want a duet - write a new one.

I'm another "no" vote I'm afraid

I don't think this would work as a duet. It's a very intense, emotional song and splitting it into two parts would detract from this. It should be left the way Jim intended it.

I remember we also had the same debate about Two Out of Three and I think the general opinion was also "no".

No again - My opinion only, is that Meat is at perfection when he sings For Crying Out Loud, no matter the format, whether it be live (rare) or recorded. The emotion that Meat places into this song, I believe would detract if any other singer at all, were to duet with him.

For crying is such a great ballad by Meat..
But sing in your head Patti as a duet... For Taking in the sun when feeling so cold(Patti), for giving me a child (Meat) etc etc.

Might not be to bad???

No No No No NO!
Horrible horrible idea. . .this song is written from the prespective of one person. . .not two.
Oh, one side comment, the song's about more about sex than love. . .but then again, aren't all Steiman songs?
Proof?
"And can't you see my faded levi's bursting apart". . .*ahem*. . .Yes Jim, I can see them very clearly, not a pretty sight either.

No, For Crying Out Loud is best left alone. It is a classic, probably one of the three most beautiful songs I've ever heard, I just don't think you can break it in two. Besides, Meat sounds heavenly on it alone...

No - I think they should leave it. Meat could possibly sing it even more incredibly these days, but don't mess with something this good!
