I doubt that any of us would be surprised if Jim never wrote another song. As others have said, he's never been very prolific, but I'd take quality over quantity any day, and Steinman's written more great songs than most.

If he is done, so be it.

Sorry about the mad hatter - he can't afford to watch anyone taken off the pedestal he's raised for them.

Quite why anyone needs to read that post in this context is beyond me.
I can't say anyone here is being critical or rude about Jim.
The worst thing i've seen posted about him is quality not quantity, which is no bad thing at all.

Weather continued health problems is a factor is stopping Jim from working is an issue that will naturally be debated by fans.
Enquiring minds want to know
But as long as this is one in a respectful and in no way in breach of Jim's privacy, I can't see a problem.

I don't believe the fans have a right to know if Jim is unwell.
If you don't believe that try ringing Jim's doctor and demand to know how he is (how Jimmy that is, not the doctor).
When you explain you are not a relative or personal friend, but you are a fan, see how long it takes for him to hang up.

Jim could end any speculation with a statement, but if he is not comfortable doing that right now, we can only wait and see what happens.

I know Meats posts, I'm interested in knowing who madhatterster is referring to with his(or hers) 'someone here' comment.

You mean quantity not quality as the way you've put it implies Jim writes a lot and it's shit :)

Jim Steinman writes quality, not in quantity.

Think that's right the first time

Yes he does, which is why "The worst thing i've seen posted about him is quality not quantity" is ass backwards

Hey, Yoda hacked my account, what can you do when that happens?

You might notice that during Yoda's reign, every account with the user name Darth (something) has been banned

Just to backtrack myself a bit, I'm sure I'm not the only one who thinks that pre-Bat1 era Jims musicals were based more on quantity rather than quality, as for the most part they were shit with only a few exceptional songs.

Very true.

I think maybe Jim became a bit of a perfectionist after Bat 1, only going ahead finishing and producing a song if he thought it was really good.

Think the Steinman is done statment is rubbish actually. It was only in 2005 I heard "What Part of My Body..." and in 2006 that I heard "Vespers/Angels Arise". Both amazing pieces of music and rank amongst Steinman's best imo.

Also a lot of artists / songwriters simply get less prolific in their older days (Billy Joel / Mark Knopfler (the Dire Straits stuff of the early 80s was much more interesting and musically complex than what he is doing now) / Elton John).

Sorry, I just think it's disrespectful whoever said "Steinman is done". It is my opinion that no artist is done until he or she is dead. They just change...

On the homepage there's a 'Contact' option at the top, did you try contacting admin to sort your password out? Also did you contact admin to say who you really are once the new account was set up? NO?...well there's a shocker

I'm not asking you both to stop this, I'm telling you to stop this. There's a difference, and if neither of you are grown up enough to understand that difference I suggest you log off and stay away.

If you can't debate the subject without getting personal then don't bother. Stick to the facts or the theories as you know them, cut out the bullshit, cut out the dramatics, cut out the personal stuff.

I'm not going to watch this thread or this forum descend into the flame wars and bitching that other places do at times. It ends now.

Thank you

"Cut out the dramatics!

Sorry. Jesus Christ Superstar fan. If I see a phrase, you'll see a lyric from the show.
