Just stated reading nobody true by james herbert. I couldn't put it down and was up until 3 this morning. god knows how i got up for work.
A quick review a guy has out of body experiences and while out of body he's murdered. Now he's on a mission to find his killer and protect his family. Nearly finished it and i have to say it is brilliant his best recent novel by far.

I think I must live in an alternate universe - I read both of those about two or three years ago.... loved both, incidentally....

Memoirs of a Geisha . . . . sat up until some ungodly hour watching the movie the other night and decided to read the book (they're always better)

Just finished Nobody True by James Herbert. Excellent book proper Herbert gripping story with lots of shocks.
I'm not sure what to read now it's a **** up between Ghost's of Crickley hall or Lisey's Story?

I'm partway through Lisey's Story, not bad but a bit cofusing in places, (as well as the Derren Brown one) and got Crickley Hall to go... Did it that way 'cos I'm a bigger SK fan than JH, so if you start Crickley and it's good, let me know and I might start that too!

Ok i think i will start with crickley. I'm a massive Stephen King fan too, but i just think James Herbert is an easier read if you know what i mean. likewise let me know what you thought of Lisey's stoey.

I am reading King's "Lisey's Story" but finding it very slow going for some reason so i expect that will be on my bedside table for some time to come as I dip into it.

Currently reading various stuff on secure online payments, CSS design (invented since i was at uni!!!) and assorted Tax Office documents.
For fun i have just finished Thud by Terry Pratchett and currently re-reading The Cuckoos Nest by Clifford Stoll. This is a fantastic book about a hunt in the 1980's for one of the first computer hackers. Some fascinating stuff for anyone who has ever wondered about the world of UNIX, the first interconnected networks and stuff.

Thanks...you can ask L96 what is going on with me and my book collection...she was suitably impressed...6 crammed bookcases and every closet containing bags and bags of books...don't think I can read it all in my lifetime...argh...frustrating...

Oh, I didn't realise you're into "Legalised Theft" by the Department of Stealth and Total Obscurity.

I've also (apart from the book in my previous post) been reading the latest Avon book and Wilkinsons christmas offers booklet.

Halfway through Ghost of crickley hall.
Have to say this plot has been done so many times before. A few times by Herbert himself (magic cottage, haunting).
It is well written and the few scares have been good upto now. I'm just hoping there's a good twist to come.
Let you all know when i'm finished.

Finished Lisey's Story this morning, like Chris I found it quite slow to start with, and had trouble figuring out what bool meant, although you do seem to get that explanation in dribs and drabs as you go through...

It sped up quite a lot over the second half, although it reminded me a lot of Rose Red (I think that's what it was called, anyway, the one with the bull in the labyrinth) but I enjoyed it anyway, to the extent that I put stuff off to read it!

Will finish Derren, then start James Herbert

Rose Madder

I'm currently on Special Agent by Candice DeLong which is fascinating. She was one of the early female FBI agents who went on to be the inspiration behind Candice Starling in the Silence of the lambs trilogy.
