Default Missing tracks and rarities box set???

All this talk about Bat 3 and singles and B sides....

Wouldn't it be great if Meat would release a rarities box set.

These are songs I can think of right now that could feature on there.
Time for Heroes
Decadent Wish
Let it Be
Come Together
Oh What Beautiful Morning
Lawers, Guns and Money (Live)
Lost Love (from the MATLAF era)
Somebody Loves Me (Gershwin)
Stand by Me
Thrashin
Original More than you Deserve single
The Free for All songs...
Unsaid

+ probably countless of recordings/outtakes I don't know about.

Any other suggestions?

If Meat releases an album, I'll buy it!

But your idea sounds like a good one, maybe he'll notice next time he's on
and we'll all get lucky!!!!

You talked about Heroes, do you know on which album it was released? I got it, but just from a rock-compilation.

Heroes was recorded as the Official Theme Song for the International Summer SPecial Olympics in 1987, as such it wasn't released on any of Meat's albums. Being released only as a single at the time and also appearing on compilations since then.

Well, I'm a bit in two minds:

On the one hand, I would say that it would be great to have many of those songs, remastered and all, on a CD. For example, I would be thrilled with a Stoney and Meatloaf CD.
But on the other hand... what about all those people who spend quite some time and money tracking down singles and stuff? I'm at a point where I can say that the only two tracks I'm missing a hard-copy of are "Thrashin'" and "The Way You Do The Things You Do" from Stoney and Meatloaf. Releasing a collection of rareties (and I'm not saying that such a thing should not be released) would, for me, take away the warm fuzzy feelings of having an (almost) complete collection. And yes, maybe that is a bit selfish, but still a valid point from a collector's point of view.

To the best of my knowledge, all the "rareties" would fit on one single CD, two at most. To make a rareties box-set really special/worth the money, I would expect some vintage live-performances, demos, outtakes, and a bonus DVD featuring a full, uncut concert.
And speaking of DVDs, when is one coming out with all the video's (1977-2003)?

I think, 'Back to Sorrento', (a duet with pavarotti) would be a great one to include, or even 'Heaven can Wait' with Pavarotti.

No. On the same concert he did 'Back To Sorrento' with Pavarotti, he also did 'Heaven Can Wait', without Pavarotti, backed by "just" an orchestra.

It was at the Pavarotti & Friends Together For The Children of Bosnia concert. The concert was released on CD and video in 1996.

If Meat ever did cut A Date With Destiny in the studio I would love that to be on a rarities box set. Any cuts that didn't finally make the albums would be great to hear and some out-takes thrown in would be fun too.

I think a rarities cd would be a great idea, theres certainly enough compilation cds around containing all the songs we already have on other albums that we don't need anything more like that, but yeah a collection of rare tracks is exactly what we need.

I'm still searching in vain for a cd version of the remix of Midnight at the lost and found single version, I have the original 7 inch vinyl but it crackles so much now that its hardly playable, so I'm desperate for a decent MP3 of that if anyone can help, I'd appreciate it.

I'd pay anything to hear Bette Midler's demo of Heaven Can Wait

Meat did assent to a boxed set over at .net, if that helps.

What it will contain could be a whole different story, though.

Thrashin' can only be found in the movie Thrashin'. No separate soundtrack was released.
You can find the movie quite easily on DVD (region 1 only) on the internet (Amazon, eBay).
