Default JIM STEINMAN's DAS RHINEGOLD

In the 'TO HELL AND BACK' bio, Meat Loaf mentions something about a Steinman musical called 'DAS RHINEGOLD'. Apparently it had Richard Gere in the lead. Feeling ever so curious about this 'wonderful' piece, I did some extra research. According to Daniel Meistrup, it played at the New York Shakespeare Festival in 1975, with Richard Gere, Ellen Parks and Sarah Harris. Apparently it had a very limited season...
Besides Meat's mentioning of it, does anybody else know about this
Mysterious DAS RHINEGOLD?

Is it a german title or is that translated? I don't know about it, never even heard about it.
