Default The Darkness

The new album "One Way Ticket To Hell" is great IMO.
Don`t get me wrong: I was amongst you feeling tortured when they opened for Meat and would never have bought their album. But listening to the single "One Way Ticket To Hell And Back" on radio without knowing who it is just converted me. And actually the whole album is good (if you can call it a whole album with just a bit more than 30 minutes). Past the trademark high vocals (fortunately not on all the songs) you realize great melodies, rock and bombast. Isn`t that what we are here for while standing the wait for Bat 3?!

Anyone with me?
Merry Xmas
Michael

I must admit, I liked 'Growing On Me' when I heard/saw it on some music channel or other, but felt that the coverage they got was far in excess of the contribution they can make to our culture subsequently. Nothing they have done has not been done before, by Queen, ACDC etc... and I would recommend any of those band's albums over The Darkness any day. But I do like 'One Way Ticket To Hell And Back' for what it is, just don't forget people, there MUST be more original bands/songwriters out there (at least I hope so).

I'm in a minority here, but I can't stand The Darkness and the lead singer looks like a ferret on drugs. I'd did like their Christmas single, Christmas Time (Don't let the bells end) though

I'm with you too, Michael
I felt exactly the same as you when they opened for Meat in 2003 lol, but now I love them. The whole album is really good and I'm going to see them next year in March in Cologne

They opened nearly all the german Meat shows in October/ November 2003 except of the two which Kasim opened.

Frankfurt 27.10.2003
Stuttgart 28.10.2003
Munich 30.10.2003
Hamburg 01.11.2003
Trier 02.11.2003

Kasim opened in Halle 25.10.2003 and in Berlin 06.11.2003

Hope I'm right and didn't forget something, it's two years ago now lol....

They opened in Oberhausen too (7-11-03) if I remember correctly.

Haven't heard their latest album, did not enjoy their music in 2003 at all (torture Is the right word for what I felt at the concerts too lol) - but who knows I may even like this new cd if it is as you describe!
Will be sure to listen to it.

Love,
Mariella

Wow, I wished they'd have opened for Meat here in the UK. That would have been brilliant.

I absolutely love The Darkness, new album is awesome but isn't it only about 35 minutes long?!

Love it though, only those guys could get away with lyrics like "I love what you've done with your hair" and "dinner lady arms" !!

I quite like the Darkness too, but how can you have a one way ticket to hell AND back? Surely it'd be a return?!
