Default best album after the bats, best album 2003

This album is very underestimated.
This is Loaf best album after the bats. And as far as I am concerned it is the best album of 2003.
Everything fits on this recording. The story is really great. the vocals are superb. The album got a top, a middle and a big bottom. All songs have nice refreshing melodies. Plus there is something new: rap and gosple. Fast rap. Outstanding vocal track wether you like it or not. You have to admit that nobody sings this the way Loaf sing it. Nice gosple combined with rock. testify is not a typical Meat song, but the way its put on tape is Larger Than life.

This album deserves a better place. And I know it will get it in the not too distance future.

Yeah I think this album together with "Welcome to the neighbourhood" is some of Meat's best stuff.
My fav two songs on the album "CHSIB" and "DIST" are great Meat Loaf songs I think and I would love to hear them at any of his concerts and also they should be included in any Meat Loaf compilation album that is done as of now.
Having said that I think Bat 3 will be quite special too. To me this has all become much more than music, they (the albums/songs) are feelings, emotions, dreams and almost necessities of life itself. They certainly grow on us fans and we will never forget them (as you do do with more than 90% of music these days probably).

CHSIB is pretty awesome I would say.

Well yeah, it is awesome.... though my best after the Bats is Neighbourhood... it has a mixture of everything from proper rock (rubber meets the road) to polite stuff (martha) and (left in the dark).

Too me WTTNH is a fantastic album as is CHSIB they are both different and offer a wide range of musical tastes from dark, happy, rocky, sad ect! BAT III will mean alot to me as i have waited for a Stienman + Meat reunion for ages and i just think that the songs will have lots of emotion + passion in them, i like the direction stienman is going with BAT III, personnally think it'll be quite dark...! just because this is the end one! Rock on MEAT!!!!!!

I don't think this is the best album after the bats. I think Dead Ringer, Bad Attitude and WTTN are better albums.
Some songs sound very simple on CHSIB, but they are powerfull.

Instead of people who are saying that its not the best after the bats, I rather see people who think it is best after the bats.

This is a free board, and a free topic, so I can give my opinion, even if you don't like it.

Well. to be honest... really don't think it is the best album after the Bats. Dead Ringer is a very good album, also Blind Before I Stop is pretty good i think.
CHSIB is a good album, but i feel, i said: i feel, like it is a complete other album, genre. It really is not compareble to the Bats. I really do hope that Bat 3 will not anything like that!!

Well, this impressed me a lot more than Welcome to the Neighborhood. I thought that album, to be honest, was tacky and slipshod. My feeling toward it is the same as the colour of the cover. But Couldn't Have Said it Better is wonderful and sincere and in your face. Of course, it kind'a drags on the second side... but, over all, I had an amazing, uplifting, emotional feeling about it. It's sad that Loaf didn't perform all the songs live - at one stage - because they all would have done well in that arena. I don't know why he has cut so many of the songs from his latest tour: it's as if he's turned around and said: "this is no longer my greatest album since Bat 1. That honour will now go to Bat 3." I even think, related to DO IT!, that BREAK IT is an obvious Steinman 'copy' of DO IT! - whereas, in the past, (ironically), the writers were impersonating Jim. From what I heard of Only When I Feel (and that sounds incredible) it does sound like Jim has taken the idea and the feel of Couldn't Have Said it Better.

I never liked Welcome to the Neighborhood. It's an incoherent mess and everything is wrong. The arrangements are wrong. Meat Loaf's voice is too old - they've made it sound too old. He tries and makes out that it's a concept, but it's not. It's just a few tacky Stein-rip-offs thrown together in an ultraly boring album. I think, behind the Bats and CHSIB, Dead Ringer and Attitude follow behind. Neighborhood belongs in the rank of Lost and Found and Blind (in my opinion). CHSIB is, nevertheless, a very nice and embracable new approach to Meat Loaf. He kept up with the times, buthe was still as sincere as ever. And from the songs I've heard from Bat III - Steinman is keeping up too :)

Those have all been performed in Jim's Over The Top show recently, but how do we know they are all destined for Bat III?

It needs some thinking about to decide which is the best Loaf album after the Bats but I really think that 'Couldn't Have Said it Better' was brilliant and certainly the best Meat could give and the single of the same title is one of the Meat Loaf anthems and it gained him a lot of younger fans. I thought this was his best album since 'Bat II' but before then, I think it would for me have to go to 'Midnight at the Lost and Found' which I think is really under-rated. If 'Dead Ringer For Love' would have happened to be one of the tracks on that album Midnight would have been a classic!

Most definately the albums between bat I and bat II should get more attention.I'm 24 and dead ringer is probably my next best album but CHSIB is right up there though.Bat's are examples of what made him great and CHSIB is the best example of why he's still great.New subjects that young fans can relate to.That unmistakeable Meat Loaf charm with simple power and poetic pretense. When welcome to the neighbourhood was released i began to worry that Meat Loaf had lost touch with his own style and passion, with the exception of not a dry eye,the album was full of heavy non-sympathetic,un-romantic cheap rock 'n' roll crap not even worthy of a rock wannabe cabaret But thankfully Meat came up with an absolute corker in CHSIB showing he is still the best rock act seen for at least my lifetime and most definately knows what still rocks his fans hearts
