I thought so too... but if u look at the list from powerballads 3, there's final countdown by europe - certainly not a slow song. And there's Mike & the Mechanics which moves at an average pace.
But logically, yeah, Ballads are slow tracks.
By the way, has anyone heard I'd Lie For You(Pioneers Of The West Mix)? What kind of mix is this?

It's just a radio edit, available on the 3 track single. Nothing special.

a ballad is a slow song where a power ballad has more rock /metal undertones to it a lot of the best p/ballads are sung by softmetal/rock group's like def leopard, heart, bon jovi ,whitesnake etc
as my music teacher said a ballad is for crying over a power ballad is for crying over with a bit of spunk(not in the waty that you are going to think lol)
take celine dion

titanic a ballad to cry too

its all coming back to me now a kick ass power ballad that makes you to kick the person who is crying [

But then Out Of The Frying Pan or Where The Rubber Meets The Road are not power ballads. These are rocks! For Crying Out Loud is power ballad!

definition:

Ballad - Slow tempo, usually a lament. Most decent ballads contain some form of real emotion.

Power ballad - Most of these are melodramatic tripe with no emotional substance usually performed by godawful softock bands such as The Eagles, Whitesnake and Queen.

oh, and Bryan Adams.
