Hi guys, a "new" fan here

Hi, dunno if I'm the right forum but anyway...

I listened "Bat out of hell" when I was a kid (well, who didn't?). "Paradise by the dashboard light" was one of the best songs when I was growing up. Then, for some reason, I forgot Meat Loaf and never bought any of his newer stuff.

Last month I borrowed "Blind before I stop" and "Bat II" from my
19-year old little brother who loves these albums. And you know what, kids are alright, these really ROCK.

Of course I was familiar with Loaf's biggest hits like "I can do anything for love", etc. but I'd say these two albums are just as good as Bat I. So I kinda discovered him again and I'm definitely going to buy all his new stuff.

I'm totally clueless about him as an artist. Does he have any plans for new albums, touring, etc. But I guess I'll find information from this board.

Anyway, nice to be here and I'm glad I found this board.

Thanks guys. Listening now "Couldn't have said it better" for the first time. Bought it 20 minutes ago from the local cd store.

Sounds a bit different from the stuff I've heard so far. But good nevertheless.

I'm especially impressed of the song "Standing on the outside" from "Blind before I stop", it's a slow song but really powerful. Some songs in that album are pretty sad, but it's not a depressive album by any means. And even if the album theme is dark it can be powerful at the same time, just like Roger Waters' "Amused to Death" or Pink Floyd's "The Wall".

As my signature tells you I'm a diehard Rush fan - and that's probably why I like the "pompous approach" in Meat Loaf's stuff too. I like big, majestic sound combined with good, straightforward rock.

Another thing that really makes a difference to me is the live sound. What is the best live album of Loaf?

IMO opinion Live Around The World is the best one to go for, although Meat Loaf Live from Wembley in the late 80's isn't bad it's not a ptach on LatW

Live around the World is a great CD - a little more expensive than others - but well worth the money

plus you get some of Meat's sense of humour coming out in parts -

Thanks all (again). Dottie, 54 eh? My father is 57, we're really good friends and have a lot in common.

But music taste... I really wish he listened to something like Meat Loaf. Closest thing to rock music in his album collection is ABBA. :) But he doesn't mind when I play The Who, Led Zep or Stones to him.

I'm in my late 20's and even I hate most new music. It's pretty sad what record companies are forcefeeding to kids these days, it's just embarrassing. There are good artists and musicians around but there's no longevity and appreciation to quality anymore. Maybe that's changing, I'm not sure.

I learned about good rock music from my big brother who's in his late 30'S. His record collection is just amazing, even Meat Loaf stuff I heard came from him.

The other day i walked into a deli and Jimi was on TV doing his
famous "burning the guitar then smashing the guitar bit". There were some kids watching, but those punks didn't even know who he was. they
hadn't ever heard of Jimi Hendrix, for crying out loud...! i gave them a scolding, for sure. Many kids think that Limp Bizkit invented rock'n'roll. :)

Was "Storytellers" some kind of MTV show, like "Unplugged"? I have Dave Matthews "Storytellers" too, I recall. Hmm, wonder what Dave Matthews was doing on MTV...

The live at Wembley (1987) album is amazing

Storytellers is great.It was a show recorded for VH1, and has Meat singing some classic songs and telling stories that have happened through his long career.Deffinatly worth looking out for.

I have to agree that Meat's Live Around The World is a fantastic live album ...... definitely one to add to your collection, but you should also look out for Storytellers and Live at Wembley too!
