'modern girl' from the very best of 2003 sounds slightly different (infact a bit better) to the other version on 'hits out of hell' can someone please explain why this is, or are my ears deceiving me?

The production is better. Simple.

I think Rob means to say that for the TVBOML all songs were remastered (i.e.: tweaked it a bit, remove tape hiss), while for HOOH, it probably wasn't.

I know what you mean - I think the guitar parts have been changed from the original.

The best Modern Girl is a B-side version! You can hear there a great orchestra. I don't know why isn't it the album version...

I just found out why the two sound different, there are two versions of modern girl out there, one of them is the original, which is on 'the very best of 2003' and the other is a remixed version that is on 'hits out of hell' although the very best of version has been remastered, it hasen't been remixed and thats why it sounds different, as far as i know, all the songs on bad attitude HAVE been remixed by, i believe, meat loaf, paul jacobs and mack. Can't believe i never noticed that before, there is quite a big difference between the two, i think the non-remixed version on very best of sounds much better, not quite so 80's and more rocky.
