Default Will CHSIB Appear On The U.S. Charts Next Week ?

Nielsen SoundScan is the system they use to track record sales in the US and Canada, and is the main source for the Billboard music charts.

According to the the information I found on the Nielson SoundScan website : http://home.soundscan.com/about.html

"Sales data from point-of-sale cash registers is collected weekly from over 14,000 retail, mass merchant and non-traditional (on-line stores, venues, etc.) outlets. Weekly data is compiled and made available every Wednesday. "

So, if I'm reading this correctly, they'll be collecting the record sales statistics for Couldn't Have Said Better until next Tuesday (an entire week), and it should appear on the US charts next week !!

Am I right Does anybody have any ideas

Vicki,

That sounds right to me, so I guess we'll be keeping our fingers crossed for the news Wednesday. Good mojo coming from my corner of the world, to be sure!

I hope it does get on the charts!

In Australia, a list of stores from which the statistics are taken is available. Is there any list for the US? Even if there isn't, I'm guessing a major online store like Amazon would HAVE to be one of those being sampled, and if so, then that is a good sign. As we know, the album has been doing phenomenonly well on Amazon.

That's a very good point about the list ... I'll have to check into it. And I hope you're right about Amazon ... it's amazing how well it's been doing there !!

Hey Guys, Go to Hitsdailydouble.com tomorrow (Monday 9-29) they have the Album sales totals for this week as its comes in. Its a free site just have to register, the site updates every 5 minutes. It will take til tuesday for all the data to come in, but its usually pretty close to what occurs on the Billboard charts. If you got any questions let me know.

Default The Sales Data has Started to come in on Hitsdailydouble.com

The chart for this week has started so go to the site now. But I want to let you know that site only has the top 50 spots. As of 1.8% in Meat isnt on the chart but its still very early. But just wanted to let you all know that the site has started this weeks charts, and once again it updates usually every 5 minutes.

I just checked ... and Meat wasn't on the final chart
I hope that's not an indication of Billboard ... and CHSIB will still show up there

Michael found the answer to our chart question and posted it on the CHSIB Sales thread :

According to VH1.com :

Other notable debuts on next week's chart include R&B crooner Anthony Hamilton's Comin' From Where I'm From at #33; The Best of Pantera - Far Beyond the Great Southern Cowboys' Vulgar Hits at #38; Baby Bash's Tha Smokin' Nephew at #48; Elvis Costello's classically influenced 20th album, North, at #57; Rufus Wainwright's Want One at #60; Vertical Horizon's fourth album, Go, at #61; Meat Loaf's first studio album in eight years, Couldn't Have Said It Better, at #85; Def Jux rapper Aesop Rock's Bazooka Tooth at #112; jam band the String Cheese Incident's Untying the Not at #157; and the self-titled debut by the Fire Theft, composed of former members of Sunny Day Real Estate, at #198.

It's a shame ... I was really hoping for a higher initial spot But at least it'll debut in the top 100, and with more radio airplay or television promotion it'll get up higher where it belongs !!

Were there some real heavy hitters this week that weren't on the charts two weeks ago, is that the reason for the difference in ranking with sales of 22,000?

85? So why is Billboard.com showing Moodring by Mya as #85? That's the album chart for Issue date 4th October (which isn't for another 2 days!).

I thought Billboard was the official charts????

Hi Sue!

I just checked Billboard.com, and now they're showing the official chart for Issue Date 11th October (which really doesn't make any sense since that's 9 days away !!). Here's the direct link :

http://www.billboard.com/bb/billboar...illboard%20200

And it shows Couldn't Have Said It Better listed as #85 ...

I just hope there's a chance that it can move up on the chart.

I think When they mean Oct 11, that is the day the chart will be released in the Magazine for that week. I could be wrong, anyway like its been said the correct chart for the debut week of CHSIB is online, so check it out.
