CHSIB is virgin megastores (massive record shop in uk, dont know about usa) album of the week...its gets a brilliant write-up, in fact the final line reads: As a stadium rock record, Couldn't Have Said It Better is probably the best you'll hear this year. This is rock on a widescreen scale The USA promo and coverage is slowly starting to make up for the uk disapointment!!! This is great! Thanks to James michaels site for pointing me to this artical! |

Absolutely fantastic !!! One of the lines I really liked was : It is satisfying to see that here is one artist who still believes that it's good songs that make a great album. I Couldn't Have Said It Better Myself Vicki |

I've just taken my mother shopping and has CHSIB playing in the car she said 'that boy has a good voice he might be famous one day' she's 81 years old. SCARY or what.

When my Mother and I went to the Mohegan Sun, it was 5 hour drive. I happened to have the UK version of the CD with me, and put it in the CD player in the car. She was listening to it ... and at one point said "well at least you can understand the words .." The funniest part was when we were coming home the next day. We were listening to a New York radio station (the one that sponsored the contest for him on September 23rd) and heard an ad for CHSIB. They didn't play the song, but both of us were listening very carefully !! I think she would have been as excited as me if we had actually heard it Vicki |

WHAT A GREAT, ARTICULATE REVIEW!!!
I know that Meat doesn't generally read reviews (and hey-more power to him for it, I wouldn't either) but..I really hope he catches wind of: "It is satisfying to see that here is one artist who still believes that it's good songs that make a great album. " I agree Vicki, that HAS to be satisfying after all the criticism Meat has received for his song choices in the past. At last a critic acknowledges the delicate work that goes into song selection!!! |

Chris,
Thanks for the post, great info. After Cleveland, it really looks like the US might get into this album, IMO. We have been too busy, between Cleveland, a few days of work and leaving tomorrow for Detroit! Still in a daze. Such a struggle Did get a take on Cleveland and thoughts on US reaction and promo up at MOTS today. Well, these old Rock and Roll warriors are off tomorrow for another adventure! Woohooo! Out of the frying pan and into the fiiiiiiirrrre, T |

I've just posted the following about this on the Rockman Record, so I might as well post it here too:
Here's my observation: It's written by someone at Virgin. They want to sell records. That's their business. If you publish a magazine which reviews albums they sell at your store - and you want them to sell - you don't say it's bad. You don't even say it's not as good as some of his earlier work. You say it's the best thing someone has done - no matter what your true opinion is. You can't expect objective reviews from anyone, let alone by someone who has to sell the stuff he reviews. I'll add a disclaimer before I get crucified over this. DISCLAIMER: I am not in anyway saying that CHSIB is a bad album. 'Cause I think it's not. But I don't think its all that some people make it out to be either. All I'm saying, is that article seems to be drowing in corporate candy to make it look all jummy. And I don't blame Virgin for that either, since a part of their business is selling CDs. This is marketing. William |

But the great thing about an opinion is 'that you are Always right'. That is WHY, for me 'the intention' behind a post/article is always much more imortant for me... Are we going to 'judge' CHSIB by sales/charts in terms of being succesful? Just don't think that is possible. We live in 2003, how can we compare CHSIB to BOOH I or II, saleswise? How are we to know 'all the ins and outs' about marketing a cd? Bottem line, for me is, I Love the album, that's all I can say. (Opinion) So, I understand 'the intention' of this writer, Evil. Yes... But good publicity, is fine by me! xxx Mariella Bottem line: these are ALL opinions... |
