Why hurt you, if your opinion is somewhat similar to mine? CHSIB is a good album with a couple of good songs but I've heard better that that.
To each his own, I guess...

Shadows you are not the first to express this view and no doubt you wont be the last. Check out Tyre Tracks etc Forum and you'll find others views on both individual tracks and albums.

BTW why would you think anyone would kill you for your opinion?

For me much of the music is associated with memories and times in my life so whilst I have worn out many tracks on the new album, it will take a while for it to have the same hold over me as others do.

Just wanted to echo the others' thoughts expressed here.

Musical taste is a very individualistic thing. I've always said "to each his own". Well, rap music might be an exception, I can't fathom how some of that passes for music, but that's just me, LOL.

And I love sin's point, a lot of what you like has to do w/ memories and associations to the song. A lot of music I really like relates to my college years and the good friends I made then, while growing up.

Right now, I happen to really like CHSIB. We have had 2 great concert experiences and at each one met great folks we only knew thru the net. I think this album will have a lasting place in my list of music favorites. But that's just me, I don't have any less respect for someone who feels differently.

T

PS- Do NOT ask Jules if I've really grown up in the many years since college.

CHSIB isn't my favourite album either. BOOH is my favourite, but my opinion is that it ranks equal with Bad Attitude as the best non-Steinman album (even though that has a couple of Steinman tracks).

Definitely. No one should be afraid to give their opinion even if they think it's not what others want to hear.

After all, what would be the point of the forum if we all just said how brilliant Meat is all the time.

CHSIB is a great album, if you compare it with other singers. But it's just an average album, if you compare it with Meat.

Default You have the right

You have the right! To remain silent. I'll get the lights. You get that smile and say nothing at all!

okay sorry, got a head of myself there, lol. hey its your opinion right. you should never make opinions from other people's opinins for example. I last year was in a grade 8 classroom, with kids two years younger than me (failed). and they thought i was the most wierdest person, they ever met, because i happen to like Meat Loaf. I would often get threats of people wanting to beat me up because I listen to him. but never did they try to get in those fights. NEway, it goes to show, no how many threats were made, or those select few that didn't like me. I still didn't change my opinions on what I thought of Meat Loaf. Meat is the best and always will be!! :) Near the end of the year when we did speeches, I did mine on Meat Loaf. and they had to listen to it, cause it was a school project, I had some kids come up to me near the end of class, and said, hey that guy is pretty cool, a week after. some of those dissers, bought the BOOH album, and said "hey man, that fat f#*#$r is awesome!!!, the only song i didn't like was something called heaven can wait" my own opinion of the album, i don't know yet, cause i haven't heard it? moral of this story, you get the idea. have a great day, and thanx for posting your opinion. i love hearing people's opinions on stuff like this.

Why on earth should anyone want to hurt you? Although when you start a thread with this and give no explanations I'm not sure what you expect to follow .. I have to say brussels sprouts aren't a favourite of mine :)

However, as to CHSIB it IS a very special album in my view. And I have reasons .. I love the newness, the freshness of it. As I said on the other thread you started up to say essentially "CHSIB's done, what next?", I still love BOOH which is a classic .. but this is new .. this is NOW .. and perhaps because I am of a similar age to Meat I love the maturity and depth of this album.

These are not the songs of young angst .. these are the songs of a man who has lived and loved .. I adore them. I believe these songs are as full of passion and meaning as any Meat has recorded, and they are delivered with a mature depth of passion that grips my soul. CHSIB and Did I Say That? are imo very powerful and emotive songs, and Do It!, Testify and Forever Young are for me so much more powerfully delivered by a man who's (forgive me Meat) walked a few miles around the block!

Perhaps that's why this album reaches out so strongly to many of us who have a few miles on the clock .. but the power of this album lies also I think in it's appeal to so many whose milometers would need no turning back for a quick sale :)

Perhaps you need to have been there, done that and got the bloody Tshirt to truly appreciate the wonderful lyrics of this album, particularly Why Isn't That Enough?, You're Right, I Was Wrong, Man Of Steel and Love You Out Loud .. well I have that Tshirt .. It and I have been around the block .. we know every building, stop sign, ginnel and turning! :) ..

And to those who can't appreciate its depth of passion I say .. wait until you've lived and loved a distance .. and if you've done that .. well you must have lived an extraordinarily level life .. mine has been a path of peaks and valleys .. and this album mirrors them all with soul and passion .. This IS real time .. this IS larger than life!!

ah well. thanks, lol. , I just had to share that. There are a lot of people out there who don't always come out with their true feelings. you'd be surprised.
Especially in my school, I'm talking about peer pressure. A lot of pressure people go under to fit in. I liked the first message at the beginning of this chat string. It was honest, and thats all that counts.

Great story RSG. I have to admit I've always been a little hesitant about saying I love Meat Loaf in case people begin traeting me like I belong in an insane asylum. I still tell people just not to everyone I meet. Now I see that perhaps I'm overreacting slightly. Thanks. In fact the more I think about the more I'm realising what the hell was I worried about?!
