Default Heaven & Hell compilation

Here's something I've never really seen discussed - the 1989 Meat/Bonnie compilation. Now, I can see conceptually that this makes perfect sense as a product for casual fans, but it still strikes me as a slightly peculiar idea to come to fruition.

Clearly there was a photoshoot for the album, unless the cover shot comes from something pre-existing? Was there any joint press around the time of release? Any press at all? I believe it did quite well on the charts, but why put this out in 1989? In preparation for Bat 2, perhaps, to establish more recognition for Jim's songwriting?

Did Meat and Bonnie, who I have never really known if they are friends/ambivalent or whatever, literally just get together to take one cover shot for a compilation? Why bother?

Just curious as to any background anybody might have on this.

I remember messaging Bonnie about this ages ago and, as probably expected had no response.
My guess is that they never met to arrange this compilation.

Yeah it sold very well, many of them compilations sell surprisingly well at times. Hence I guess why they release them.

There are TWO 'versions' of Heaven & Hell. The '89 version of the album was on the Telstar label, and then in the run-up to Bat 2 Sony (Columbia) released their own version with a different track list. Not really sure when the photographs were taken. I do, however, know that many people are/were under the impression that the songs were done as duets, which as we know isn't the case, but people often tell me at gigs that they've 'got every album; Bat 1, 2, 3 and the one he did with Bonnie'
