As the show's lyricist, Steinman has written 15 new songs that will feature a mixture of rock and classical tunes, all based on Tchaikovsky's originals.
15 entirely new Jim Steinman songs, or 15 new sets of lyrics for already existing music? Sounds to me more like the latter.

Good to see Jim actually is still active, either way

That's what I immediately thought ... she doesn't seem to be able to raise money unless the success of Spamalot and Terry Jones' involvement can help

Why do you need to ask - I thought you had an inside track on all things Steinman ? Looks like Jim may not be as demotivated as you claimed recently.

I am not sure if it is Terry shooting his mouth off for investments or what? I personally think from what I heard that this is bull. But I don't want to make this a fact until I hear it from the horses mouth. Although that is my wishful hoping that he would reply to some post on his facebook page made by some fan.

I will make it a fact of record that I will believe this will actually happen when it actually happens and that's a fact that's the truth regarding all of this. Wishing the project well, but seeing is believing.

Wow this is greats news. I wanna see Jim doing more. He's too talented to become a recluse and do nothing. The master of rock piano is our Jim.

Become a recluse?

I wouldn't hold my breath on this. After watching him on the SHOF he seems like he's just not up to the task of any serious work.

I am sensing , well it is blowing in my face, that most of you think this is hot air and could not possibly be true. I saw the videos of the songwriter awards & he did not look well to me. I hate to post that to open board b/c it might not be true and you know how rumors start. Is he a recluse? If so when did this begin?
feeling sad

A recluse? No. But I have a relative who is a specialist in thoracic surgery and I believe Meat posted a few years back that Jim was going in for bypass. My source says that you can usually expect a full recovery but it takes time and if there are other health issues as well, without knowing the particulars then who knows.
Jim looks like he is still recovering.
We can speculate all day long and that is really pointless. I would rather keep the hope alive that Jim is not only able to continue with what is he reported working on, but can become even more active.
Clearly there is a reason that he has done much of anything in the last decade. As much as Meat regrets doing BAT 3 without Jim, in hindsight it looks like it might have been the right move as Jim is still doing next to nothing.
That we know of

I am going to keep hope alive and include him in my prayers. I guess that sounds odd but he has kept me going via his music all these years .
Rumors are one thing but seeing with ones own eyes is quite another.
thanks for the reply

Steinman refuses to give any comment about this, I posted it on his wall no reply, I have messaged his email, facebook, and website he doesn't reply on his facebook and email and website he has no comment. No one seems to know what "the brilliant little nut case is doing".

However from what I hear from Lorraine Crosby and Tony Peal (casual name drop) that he isn't talk about it with anyone. Which makes me believe there is at least a half truth in this statement.

Very surprised this seems to have been greenlit while we're all still waiting for Bat Out of Hell.

I am a Python fan too so this looks interesting. It's good that some new Jim could be on its way,

We keep hearing 'Bat's in development' from Jim, last year was the predicted opening date wasnt it?

However apart from his personal posts, which are few and far between, we have heard nothing. It's supposed to be the magnum opus he's been develooping all his career.

It seems to be a sad result of the recession.
