Default The Album Covers: Bat Out Of Hell

Bat's reveals the title track. The urgency, the dead all around (graveyard)
And a Bat perched on something.

I've always loved the fantasy art covers more than any other.

The Bat cover is amazing and is a good indication of what is inside.

The rider, a Wagnerian hero for sure, is taught as tight a spring, his teeth clenched, with the superhuman effort of riding out of hell on a motorbike.
The ground has exploaded with the shattering force of him crashing through the gates of hell.
The Bat sitting astride the tomb spreads it's wings in surprised fury, or perhaps in salute.

The vast graveyard stretches as far as the eye can see, and the bare trees and red sky adds to the post apocalyptic nature of the world he has broken back into.

What has happened to the world to turn it into such a monstous place, and where is the rider of the bike going to go now he's arrived?

I find it to be a painting that asks more than it answers.

I love it
