Hi Guys.
Thought you would like to know I rang my local HMV this morning and asked if CHSIB was re-released today. They looked it up on the computer and said YES it was released today BUT they didn't have any in stock and didn't know when it would be in stock! When Meat did an interview on Capital Radio beofore Party In The Park it was announced on the show that CHSIB would be released on July 14th. So looks like everyone, not just the fans but the record shops don't know if it will and when it will be re-released! I'm gonna ring round few more record shops and see what they say, i'll keep you posted! Joe |

it's not Bon Jovi, so they don't care about promotion...
But what is the betting that if Meat does Bat 3 on this lable they will push it to the moon and back??? tossers... I really hope Meat only signed a one album contract with these. |

Sorry to sound like a prophet of doom, but I really can't see the single doing any better this time around. It seems that the record company have learned nothing from the mistakes they made last time.
It's such a pity because it's a great song. |

I garee, the record company have done nothing to promote the single so how can we expect it to do well if ppl don't know abou it!
Anyway I've checked with HMV Oxford Street and Tower Records, London and both shops said it wasn't on the computer for release today! The only one they know about was the one released in April! So, looks like no luck today then guys Joe |

Meat, do yourself a favour mate and form your own label. You have so much talent and many friends and good advisors, I believe you could do it. Mercury are so incompetent it is beyond belief. Can anyone tell me why there was no further deal with Virgin?

Just got off the phone to the main HMV store in Manchester and they said that their is no release today of CHSIB and they had nothing on their computer for any future release dates. The only single in stock is the April release. This is total b**ls**t and I am not very happy at all. Mercury, any faith we had in you has dwindled away

Ok guys this was not unexpected and has been well covered on the CHSIB re-edited single thread.
Acknowledging fans feelings of frustration (and sharing the same feelings) Diane has agreed to contact Mercury to get an official definitive answer. Not that I believe for one minute Mercury know how to give a straight answer. My personal opinion is that the whole thing stinks! However as I've said elsewhere I think an approach from recognised bodies to established contacts is the best starter. But am ever conscious that we are always running after the horse instead of being securely mounted! Personally, I'm not totally convinced that much will happen with a released single unless it is a new cut with other tracks, but additional promo and airtime will keep the album sales up. Having said that every little helps and lets not forget that CHSIB is actually a released single you can phone your radio station and ask for it along with all his "classic tracks". Lets use what we've got and let the world hear Meat Loaf. |

Very sadly radio play of "CHSIB" has been minimal and Mercury have confirmed that the new edit will not now be released. The original single has not been deleted and is still available to buy.
The good news is that "CHSIB" (the album) has moved back up the official album chart following Meat's appearances at the Party In The Park and on TV and is this week at #42. |

This is a very sad day for us all. It makes me laugh, that out in the charts is songs that don't deserve to ever be released ( no disrepect to the artists but some of your songs are crap ie: Fast Food Song), and Meat's song doesn't even get the chance it deserves. I hope with not many people getting the chance to hear CHSIB on the radio and seeing it in the charts that it doesn't become another Meat Loaf song that dwindles in oblivion, and no one remembers, when this song deserves classic rock status like Bat, anything for love, 2 outta 3, Paradise and Dead Ringer. All I can do is blame the money grabbing fat cat bosses of these music labels who think we only want to listen to these artists who ramble on about drugs and rape and guns, also Fast Food, oh and cheeky bums. What is this world coming too. Oh by the way, if anyone from Mercury gets to read this I am only 24

Shame it's not exactly what we wanted to hear, but I don't think that has really surprised anyone has it? If as promised they release another track from the album to coincide with the UK leg of the tour, this is what is going to make the difference. They are already talking about doing this and I hope and pray that they make sure it is well promoted and plenty of copies pressed! It would be nice to see some big Meaty posters up in HMV and the others which weren't available for CHSIB. Personally I think the main thing is to try to keep Meat's name in peoples thoughts and through getting plenty of airtime, this is probably done more effectively by us fans requesting songs not only CHSIB but all the wonderful years of track he has given us. Summer is here would could be better than the rdio stations pumping out CHSIB, BOOH, Anything for love, Hot Summers Night etc etc. Any one fancy setting up a record company?? I think us lot together could do Meat real proud |

It's a sad but true fact that so often the best and most ingenious work gets looked over for the current fad or fashion. It happens constantly in the music industry where the latest bright young things achieve their 15 minutes of fame and then disappear again into obscurity at an ever alarming rate. There's no denying the market is aimed at the teenage end (they buy the majority of the CDs) and it's a very fickle market indeed.
I was fortunate enough to grow up in an era when bands reached the top through hard graft and real musical talent. They paid their dues and earned and deserve their rock legend status. Meat is of that era and school and we can be mightily proud of the fact (and so can he) that 25 years after Bat Out Of Hell was first released in the UK he has just achieved another top 5 album and and a top 40 single. Of course we're naturally deeply disappointed that the single didn't do better but if DJs won't play it it doesn't stand a chance. The fact that it wasn't played just emphasises to me the very sorry state of the current throw-away music trends. When The Beatles, The Stones, Meat, etc. first emerged they brought with them a very rare and unique talent which has endeared them to music fans for generations and generations to come. The industry and the market has changed so much and attention spans seem to get shorter by the minute. Today's new manufactured sensation will just as quickly be tomorrow's forgotten has-been because that's what the present market demands. Meat is the epitome of what a real rock legend should be. He is a true entertainer who has honed and perfected his craft over the years, never afraid to admit that it's a constant learning process, and always striving to do it better. On stage he consistently thrills and excites his audiences with a boundless energy that defies the passing years! He's established as a rock legend and his star will shine forever bright. It will be interesting to see if the likes of say Robbie Williams and Kylie are still household names in 20 years time. Time will tell, but I'm not going to hold my breath! Rock on Meat! |

its an all round disapointment about the single, all i can say is for the next release (in november? that alone needs to be questioned - by Nov CHSIB will have been out nearly 7 months and only 2 singles releasaed - one a mess up!) there better be one hell of a good campaign out for the next single....on that topic i really think it needs to be testify, something different, something that WOULD perhaps draw a few new followers of meat - I also think that song would boost album sales.

Finally got to talk to some people at Mercury yesterday. It appears that when they are considering re-releasing a single and send new edits to radio stations they have to give a proposed release date to give them something to work with in terms of playlists. Whether or not they re-release the single then depends on the airplay they get. In this case they didn't get sufficient airplay to justify a re-release. So their point is that the date on the eBay promo CD was only ever a proposed date for the benefit of radio stations, and from one of these someone appropriated the copy and sold it at public auction, thus raising a false expectation.
I'm sure those of us who renewed our efforts to get the single played as soon as we heard about the proposed re-release helped, but I guess the problem is that insufficient radio stations actually put it on their playlist. The product is still on the shelves and can be supplied to ordering stores. The next release will be in November. It has yet to be decided. The results of the survey will be fed into the decision making process. I've now received confirmation of this in writing from the Product Manager: Quote:
I have given them fair warning that I will be periodically reminding them that they promised to give some feedback from the results of the survey once the information has been collated !!! |

Capital FM saying on air that the new edit of "CHSIB" would be released on the 14th July also did much to raise expectations too.

Then we should pass this information on to Mercury, and I will. All I can do is pass on to people the information I've received from their Head of Press and PR and the Product Manager.
