Default Back In The USA, Videos, singles....

Ok, for one I will express my jealousy to all of you, considering the fact that most of you have been fortunate enough to see Meat on all kinds of shows promoting the new album and he's a very good talk show guest. I can't wait for the album to drop here in the states but I was wondering, have they planned on sending the video just to VH1? I constantly see that new Eagles video (not to compare Meat to The Eagles, just that they've both been around awhile) on both VH1 and the country music station CMT, however I don't really consider that song a country song. Recently as well, CMT has been very wide ranged when it comes to the videos they play, as Lisa Marie Presley's "Lights Out" video was a big favorite on the station, though I don't consider that a country song necessarily. The whole point is, I was thinking that if CMT would play those videos why wouldn't they play the new Meat video. And it would be extremely good to target both the VH1 and CMT audiences. Also, I can't wait to see Meat on Letterman and Leno, I imagine he'll be performing "Couldn't Have Said It Better"? I really want this album to do well here in the states.

Hi, Evan! What an interesting idea! I have never pictured Meat on a Country Western TV station--the thought just wouldn't have occurred to me. But I have not watched CMT for quite a while and if they've changed as much as you say, it might just be possible!

Anyway, it's worth a shot. There's a LARGE audience watching the channel. It would be interesting for Meat to do some kind of 'crossover,' wouldn't it?!!

If anyone wants to write to CMT here's the URL which will take you to their front page. At the bottom, I saw a place for Questions and Comments. Might just be the place to bring up this idea!

I'm like you, Evan. I can't wait for the album and the promotions to get started over here!! Should be seeing more and more of them, as the tour continues through the country!!

Meat said that he WILL be doing Leno. Hasn't mentioned Letterman yet, though, although he's been on that show so many times through the years....So, let's hope!!! The more promotion, the better!!!

Go, CHSIB, Go!!!

Love,
MB

I can see it on VH1 but not CMT. I wondered about the Lisa Marie thing but aside from the fact that she is who she is (Elvis' little girl) her song would fit CMT better than one of Meat's songs. I was surprised to hear Kid Rock and Sheryl Crow there too but it's the song they did together that got them on TV. (Ironically enough tho', I thought about that song on country radio after the CD first came out, thinking that it would be a good one to cross over.) And Kid's crossover performance with Hank Jr. brought him into the country community's eye. Not that I don't think anyone hadn't heard him before but just not in a "country" format. What Meat does (as much as we love it) wouldn't really fit the format there, even Mercury Blues. And I detest that song period. Nothing to do with Meat, just that I've never been a big Alan Jackson fan and didn't adhere to the song in part because it was over played on radio and then I had to go on the air and play the @#$% thing again.

testify is a VERY country rock song. meat always has that kinda elvis-like quality to him which is big in certain styles of country....i think there's a market for it, with the right song...

I don't believe that any of the new songs are more country then "Two Out Of Three" however. Maybe if CMT played a new video, then "Two Out Of Three" like a package deal of sorts.

Ok, with the country rock thought in mind I listened to Testify last night from that perspective and you're right. I can see it as a country rock type of thing. Up until now all I've gotten has been the snippets of it because I don't have the CD. (Now no fair gasping at that.) The new songs in general were well received last night.
