Default What do you find the best movie sequel ever

I thought about it now that the Star Wars BluRay box is almost dropping on my floor. What's your all time favorite movie sequel.

For me it's easy, Star Wars Ep IV; The Empire Strikes Back.

This movie always makes my top 3 fav. movies of all time (together with the Shawshank Redemption) and it is the best follow up movie, ever imo.

It has everything the original movie has, plus more. New character development (Introducing Yoda and Lando) It adds a great new plot (Luke, I'm your father) and even gives new depths to Darth Vader and the Empire. And most important, it's not a copy of it's original (unlike Aliens, Return of the jedi, Scream, Die Hard, etc. etc.)

Plus it helps that the character's introduced are actually good (No Ewoks, no JarJar, no Darth Maul).

Anyway Empire for me, what do you say?

In terms of sequels, I'd say Aliens, Terminator 2, and Lethal Weapon 2 were all very good.

Also, Dawn of the Dead (the original one). Gotta love George Romero!

Batman Returns (my second favorite movie of all time after King Kong '33) , SW Episode V and VI are on par (I like VI a tad more cause of the first 40 mins on tatooine with everyone's favorite slug kingpin and of course Ian McDiarmid), and the two Toy story sequels.

Toy Story 2 & 3 are up there along with Star Wars V and VI

Whilst not really true sequels the 2nd and 3rd Lord Of The Rings films rate highly for me too, especially the 3rd with the action sequences featuring nods the great films that came before (especially the battle scene on Hoth in Star Wars V)

Oh and Angels and Demons isn't bad either.

I would say Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, but only if we pretend the Temple Of Doom doesn't exist . Otherwise The Dark Knight and Die Hard 2 are both excellent sequels.
