If it's anything like the last three specials on Dave I won't get too excited. They were shite.

I enjoyed them. Found it refreshing to watch it again all these years later without a laughter track, though if they do this new series in front of a live audience, I will be a happy bunny.

It went down hill when Rob Grant stopped writing for the series if I remember correctly.
Like so many great series they should have let it go at its peak rather than drag it out too far beyond the point where the main characters have been as developed as they can be and they have to start drafting in the ancillary characters more. Having said that, I'll still watch it ![]() |

I didnt really like the specials either. For me, Red Dwarf should be done in front of a studio audience with cheap and wobbly sets. That's what turned people onto it in the first place imho. It was about the writing and the delivery.

This was leaked by Robert Llewelyn (well, Charles blabbed it on the radio beforehand) about 3 months ago. But, agreed, after series six Red Dwarf just wasn't Red Dwarf. As for the specials on Dave ... it was like watching the Red Dwarf pantomime. And the CGI was still shit.

Shit CGI is part of the beauty of Red Dwarf though ... when it's done well it spoils the RD experience.

The remastered version of series one did not look right at all.
