Default THE NEXT HARDEST POLL: Bat Out Of Hell or Bat Out Of Hell LIVE

Umm yeah, this exists now. Time to get your brain around that.

Me: I prefer my favorite Live version: BAD ATTITUDE LIVE

THIS POLL COMPARES YOUR FAVORITE LIVE VERSION OF BAT TO THE STUDIO BAT. WHICH DO YOU PREFER?

Live for me, after hearing all the passion that is put into the live versions the album versions just don't sound the same anymore.

Change the word hardest to "most useless" in the title and then it's more apt imo.

Live for me because I love meat vocals on the live version so much passion put into it. But i must say during that period of time Dead Ringer for Love was awful live until patti joined the band the previous female singer were awful.

They also changed the arrangement of the song when Patti joined, so that may have something to do with it as well. I agree the 80's renditions of it were generally e.

The live in Wembley 1982 Version I just love his vocals back in the 80's live.

I love it live, but I HAVE to BE THERE. If I'm not there at the moment it is played, it doesn't have the same impact for me.

Another pointless poll comparing apples and llamas.

The studio version is a masterpiece of musicianship, arrangement and production ... in the studio.

The live version is a masterpiece of musicianship, arrangement and performance ... on the stage.

No more polls from you for a week as penance!

Interesting choice! I do love the start of that though:

Bom bom

twiddly piano

Bom bom

BOM BOM

more piano

BOM BOM

etc...

Maybe we should have a poll on whether polls should be allowed on this forum.

No, I proved why the two cannot be compared as far as I'm concerned. It's not a hard choice, there isn't a choice to make as each serves a purpose in it's environment.

Not to take away from the original recording, but I also prefer the live versions. I really love the MSO version, and I loved all the ones I heard on the recent concerts I went to. There is something magic being in the audience while Meat is on stage belting it out with all his heart with all the passion and emotion he puts into it. Nothing compares to it.

Usually I prefer a good live version of nearly all the songs, but I think the recording of BOOH is really special. If we're including the video then its unbeatable - complete nostalgia: in the pub, under age, pissed on cheap pints, with BOOH on the video juke box !

I was going to comment on this when I voted but got distracted and forgot.

I voted that I preferred Bat Out Of Hell live simply because it feels more real to me. I can imagine the performance of it in my head. The studio version is perfectly arranged and the vocals are also spot on and I still enjoy listening to it but I just can't imagine the performance when I hear it.

Yeah that's exactly my view and why I voted for Bat live. Although the studio version is amazing it seems that most if not all live versions seem to have that little extra magic.
