I think using ANY live recording as a backing track from 1990 onwards would have been more believable. Who knows. Maybe this isn't the real audio?
This must have been recorded around April 30th 2003. Which is weird as Meat did have the band together at that time for some promo shows.

I think he was laughing at the start as to how crazy it was...at least Patti looking stunning help to distract me from the madness of it all.

I guess the artist often doesn't have a say in if it can be live or anything. And then there's time constraints and money etc to get the band there. It was a fun effort don't get me wrong, but considering Meat can actually mime really well a recent live track from that era (the 1998 tour or so) would have worked extremely well. In The Netherlands however Paradise was a HUGE hit in the late 80s/early 90s and perhaps that's why they opted for the original track.

I wouldn't know. I've only been there a few times and got lost immediately. No offence.

It's not the easiest of websites to navigate around that's for sure and it's a bit too goofy for my tastes.

As for the clip, I'd take a stab and say that a lot of lottery type shows have the artists mime, just so there's no 'sudden' surprises on the live show, like dropping and f-bomb or something.

it's a well designed site, i'll grant you (haven't been there in ages though) but yeah I agree it is a little goofy.

as for the vid meat proved the lottery theory previously during the VBO days by miming dead ringer (the Beacon Theatre version I believe) on the UK Lottery show back in around 98/99

That was brilliant, very funny. I think meat was laughing through most of it. It was good though, best mime i've ever seen! Timing was impeccable!

The National Lottery results broadcast live. The programme is then padded out with either a shitty game show or other unnecessary singing/dancing/assorted variety crap.

O.K.
Can't they just pick the numbers out and put them up on the T.V. screen.
I thought Meat Loaf didn't mime anything.

It's an attempt at increasing the BBC's ratings on a Saturday night, and gives Dale Winton a job.

Meat's mimed quite a bit on TV, then again lots of artists do. Something to do with the time or space required to set up equipment I think.

I remember this performance back in 2003. Meat was laughing at the beginning because the song and the vocals had started but he wasn't at the mic stand yet. They also mimed CHSIB on this show.

That made no sense back in 2003, and it still doesn't make sense today. Here's the original thread covering that performance.

He sounds exactly like he did in 1977 in that live clip.

It's better than sounding like Doreen Chanter.

Thanks for posting the link, that was hilarious. It was so surreal seeing the Meat of today, or a few years ago, with his voice from 1978 playing, he was obviously having a lot of fun with it. Don't suppose you have the CHSIB clip too? Would love to see that.
