Do you re read books?

Thought i'd ask here as I know we have a few avid book readers.

I love to read books over and over again, which some people find puzzling, but as I say, just because i've seen one of my favourite films, doesn't mean i'll never want to watch it again, and I've been known to listen to the same song on the same CD more than once lol.

So are you a fan or re reading, or to you is a book read a book dead?

My time and patience for reading books is very limited due to three kids keeping me busy, so it has to be something special.

I do :) I like to re-read series' sometimes; I'm doing that with the true blood series currently but I have re-read the Harry Potter books several times

Voted yes. Some special books. Or books I didn't like when I read them first to give them a second chance.

I love everything about books; the smell of cracking open a new book, the feel of the pages as I turn them, the words inside which capture my imagination and take me on a journey of discovery. There are some thrillers, some novels I read again .. some many times over the years. As you say, a good film is something I'd watch again, why not a novel? And then there are the non-fiction treasures, from autobiographies, to works from writers like Bill Bryson and Stephen Fry, which I try and read slowly the first time as I don't want to come to the end :) .. and re-read many times. These become good and trusted friends, always at hand to entertain me, sometimes to have me laughing until I cry .. and works from authors like Sue Townsend and Tom Sharpe, which every time I read them produce some treasure I missed before.

I was reading long before I went to school, was never bored as a child because when there was nothing to do I could always curl up with a book and be taken on an adventure; and I've never been bored as an adult because there's always a book to entice me into its world of words and images.

Rereading books is a mandatory part of the book experience for me. Since I am busy I don't get the steady reading for 1/2 hour or 1 hour. I read on my lunch break or waiting for an appointment, I catch 5-10 minute windows of reading. The book will go with me everywhere however I may go days between opportunities. Often I am excited to find out what happens next, so I tend to read quickly. However, I know, for me, this isn't the best way to digest the author's finer details in the book. So I will reread perhaps slower, capturing the overall essence of the story a bit better.

Now if it's a book that has been shelved for a few years, chances are my memory of the story won't kick in until a few chapters into the book. I only know I enjoyed the book once before since I kept it vs. the book making it's way to the local library and/or thrift store for donation.

I love to reread books. The book I'm currently rereading is Telling Lies by Dr. Paul Ekman.

Absolutely. Some series (Harry Potter, LOTR, the Dark Tower series) I re-read every year, and certainly with HP I re-read the lot just before the new film comes out... Actually, come to think of it, I did that with LOTR too....

I re-read books very often but it's got to be something interesting.. That's why I read horror stories or thrillers.. They are interesting..

Nowadays when writing my thesis I don't have time to read any books except books that consider enviromental law..

I read Moonwalk and loved it, I re-read it, so that's a book I re-read but I'm sure there have been others that I can't actually remember right now.

I definately do, the books I have re-read the most are the parts of the Black Stallion series that I have, Sleepers by Lorenzo Carcaterra (Spelling is wrong but I can't be bothered finding the book to get it right) & Cujo by Steven King.

I'm not a reader at all, but five years ago I read every page of "the Da Vinci Code", and loved it. I know I said I'm not religious etc but this book was great to be fair. I tend to nearly always wait for the movie. People always moan though...."Ah the film was no good..this part from the book wasn't in it, and that part wasn't in it too". That does my head in. I wouldn't attempt to read any of the Lord of the Rings, I'd much rather go back and do Maths classes.

I love reading autobiographies though. I find them very intereting indeed.

I'm not a book reader, but I do read newspapers and magazines a lot. They say reading is good for the imagination, and in general great for your brain. I should take up reading again, it might help me.

They don't have spots, they are sheltered from the light, and only come out at night to play.

Completely agree with Caryl, I adore books, even the ones I've not read yet, I just love having a house full of books. One of my many dreams is to have a little book shop of my own...I'll get there!

I absolutely would re-read books, though I rarely do as there's so many new ones to get through! A while back we downloaded one of those "100 books to read before you die" lists which I'm determined to get through (though I did sub some with books I'm dying to read more

) Really love Stephen King books, The Shining had me hooked, as did Misery. Andy introduced me to the Matt Dunn books which I've really enjoyed so far, and of course Dan Brown, my copies of Angels and Demons and The Da Vinci Code are wrecked! At the minute I'm half way through Red Dragon (the one before Silence Of The Lambs) which is brilliant
