CHSIB Relaunch

I've just received word from Mercury that "Testify" will not now be the new single. Instead CHSIB (the single) has been relaunched. It has been sent out to radio stations and an advertising campaign is about to begin.

Will keep everyone posted as I receive more news.

Will they still do Testify as a single though?

It's great though that they finally understand that you need promotion to get a single up the charts....

Maybe testify will be on the release too. Ive noticed in the charts nowadays its getting common for 2 songs to be released into the charts at once (sorta) There is 2 tracks and the radio plays alternate ones. So sometimes they might play CHSIB and sometimes they might play Testify. Would be great if this was the case, but i doubt it. Westlife have been using this method.

I'd imagine CHSIB the single would be have to be changed insome way e.g a remix or a new radio edit. I can't see the exact same version being relaunched. If so then we need great B sides to sell the song again. Thanks Diane for letting us know as soon as you did.

Hi, Diane! Thanks for the information. But this is so curious. Did they say anything about why this change was made? Does it have anything to do with the fact that Meat wouldn't be there the end of the July to promote a new single, but WILL be there for a few days in early July, when he could do some promotion for the new CHSIB?

I wonder if Meat has gotten this word yet, since he has said nothing here? Sounds like this was a last minute decision, perhaps. What do you think?

Interesting idea, Chris. I hope you're right. This is a little disappointing, but only because I was looking forward to Testify and seeing how it did. And all this following Mercury's request for the fans' input...Something doesn't make sense here, but then, of course, we don't have the full story yet.

Oh, I forgot, I'm now wondering if there is any word as to whether BOY will still be released in Germany and Holland or will THAT be changed, as well?

Sorry to post again so quickly, but a thought just occurred to me.

Perhaps, because of what Meat is currently going through, there was no time to complete the video for Testify. So, plans would then have had to change.

What does everyone think? Is that plausible?

This is all the information I have at the moment but will post more when I hear back from Mercury.

I can confirm that "BOY" is being released in Germany.

Excellent , CHSIB was not given a chance, with some promotional backing from Mercury, I say it will be in the top 10, better still No1. Still hope a release of Testify is on the cards, this song ROCKS :)

Jayd2, I agree! Also hope they are producing LOTS of singles this time and there will be no distribution problems at either end!!

As Mercury are still involved in an on-going survey for what they described as "Meat's next single release" I would hope that the current relaunch is just that, and that a new single will come out, perhaps to tie in with his UK tour.

The point about having something available for Paryy in the Park is a good one, as is MB's about a video .. although as Meat has said, record companies tend not to put money up for too many videos these days.

I will ask about the survey and what the information will be contributing to.

Another thing to consider is that there are many live and/or synch'ed versions of CHSIB "in the can" from the many UK/European TV and radio appearances a few months back-unless the remix is dramatically different, these can be reused for promo purposed on the remix release. On the other hand, tapes of "Testify" live are probably few and far between. They probably want the big man at full speed for the push for Testify. Just my opinion, maybe there's a bit of fact to it.

i hope that CHSIB does get a 2nd chance allthough as meny of you have said i was allso looking forwared to testify but hey good things come to thoes who waite yeah oh well guess we may have to watie a bit longer

Discussions are currently going on with Mercury about an advertising campaign for "CHSIB". Let's hold our horses until we find out from them just how they want us to lend our support and we have had a chance to tender our suggestions.

Sorry if you didn't understand Caryl but as I said an advertising campaign is ABOUT to begin. I have no intentions of jumping in over Mercury's head but am waiting to hear how they want things to be handled.

I've just heard back from Mercury about this. Here is their reply:

So there you have it. It won't be Testify, but the information you have all provided will be used. :)
