It was great for it's time. Probably one of those tracks that is always better when you're there than in a recording.

Agreed
Although i've never seen it live, I think it's one of those things that has much more of an impact when you're there.
Still great on CD though

The Dream Engine started (at least) one of their shows with it. "Impact" is the right word with when the sound from the drums hits your chest

Personally I really liked it, however the copy I have is of inferior quality and it is a little difficult to enjoy properly.

I love it, but it sounds best when it's just played on the piano..like Jim's intro on the Classic albums DVD. That was awesome!!!!

Is it on a bootleg, or on this edition of Bat?
I thought the version on Bat was pretty decent

I've just been reminded on another thread that I have heard a bit of it live
Didn't he start the show with Bolero during the 2002 tour?

would be really great as an instrumental lead into Hot Patootie during this tour with Justin and John and paul banging this out.

just sayin'

I think its the best on Nassau Colosseum.

None of the other performances capture it for me.

and Neil: 2002 Bolero? Be interesting to hear, as it would've gone into Life is a Lemon....

The piano needs to be pounded harder, didn't like the horns at the start.

I frickin love Bolero. Every recording of it I hear. Leads perfectly into Bat, and I wish they'd bring it back.

I have one problem with every recording of Bolero I hear (except the officially released Nassau one) and that is that Steinman has a hissy mike. You can hear it throughout almost every show from the early years.
