Default The Rare Songs: 50. Lawyers, Guns And Money

Rare Songs: Lawyers, Guns And Money

"Lawyers, Guns And Money" is a song, which was written by Warren Zevon. It appeared as live version on the Storytellers CD in late 1998. I think it's an average good song with cool lyrics. Meat sings it perfect. His voice sounds very strong here. I never know, if another version of that song exist, but I guess no.

7/10

Since it also appeared as a b-side on the "Did I Say That" single, I don't consider it to be "rare". Available on two items, so you must be able to get hold of it, one way or another.

But it's decent, nothing special to me. 7 seems right.

I think the sytle of story's as same as in Life Is A Lemon! But that's so much better! I really don't like it. Very average! A question: On Did I Say That is it same like on Storytellers CD?

My score: 6

Average: 7.45 (74.5/10)

It's a good song but it's very un-Meat Loaf-like (if there is such a word).

Classic Rock 'n' Roll, like Johnny B. Goode and Tear Me Down. Meat likes these songs. I also like it when Meat is performing these songs.

Great music.

My score: 8

It's a fun song ... but it's one you have to see performed live with the theatrics (if you know what I mean ML). Hope to see you sing it again on the upcoming tour ! I'd give it an 8 out of 10 :)

Definitely tink !!
It's just one of those fun songs you can really get in to .. if you know what I mean

So based on the theatrics and sheer fun of the song ... I'd rate it at least 10/10

And Meat .... I hope you can keep it on the songlist for the upcoming tour

Perhaps I'm having a brain lapse (spent all day at the beach, so it could happen!), but I can't for the life of me determine what "LD" and "AFL" stand for. It's probably very simple, and that's why I can't pull it up in my sun addled brain!

Hi Sherrie !

I don't know what LD stands for either .. maybe Lighting Director
But I'm sure AFL definitely stands for Anything For Love :)

Thanks Vicki, I am clearly an idiot. Why did I not immediately know that? I'm off work for the summer (big benefit of working for a school!) and I haven't had to do any heavy duty thinking in weeks- my mind is starting to atrophy, I fear.

Now we know why he sings this song. To get his voice ready. And i think that';s the problem with singing live for tv shows. He is not able to get his voice in good condition. That's why he sounds (sometimes) badly. His explanation clears some things up. He has the best voice but clearly not the easiest one.

i thought i heard one time that Meat tuned up his voice by singing THE STAR SPANGLED BANNER...it is a difficult song...i wonder if that is true..that he at one time used to do that...anybuddy else ever read/hear that?

i figgered that's why he did SUCH a fine job of it at the all-star game back in 199-something or other....

tink...XO

This is also one of these songs that is quite good, but when you listen to it again and again, it's going to become better and better. i give it a 8/10.

...say a prayer for the fallen angel...

The songwriter of Lawyers, Guns, and Money, Warren Zevon, passed away yesterday after a fierce battle with cancer.

ROCK ON ZEVON & FIRE BALL!!!

That's truly sad to hear. It's hard to express sorrow in a message like this but I really do feel it.

I only heard this song done by ML once, live. It was on the ML and friends just having fun for the summer tour. I've never been a big WZ fan but thought ML did a good cover version of a "fun song". Having read his reason for including this song I would have to rate it slightly higher than ML himself at 7/10 for a one off listen that I enjoyed.

Nothing special. I've only heard it twice - both times at a live concert.

Whatever the reasons are Meat does sing this song... I have to say that the first time I heard it... I LOVED IT and listened to it repeatedly again... and again... and again... and once I heard it live... oh-good-lord!

and some of you know what I'm talking about...
and believe me, it has nothing to do with the lyrics!

maybe 6.5 for the lyrics/music but
11/10 for Meat's performance!

nb: I know, it's 6.55 a.m. and I haven't slept yet... but I'm sincere!
