Did anyone see the first part of this last Saturday. If so what did you think. Personally I thought it was good.
I first watched it when i was younger and was freaked out by Clowns forever. But a good first part ![]() |

The book is great -- the film on the other hand isn't. Haven't seen it in ages, but what I remember of it isn't much...
But that's the problem with most films based on King's books (in Dutch I would have called that "een verfilming", but I'd be damned if I knew the correct english word -- "a moviefication", if you like) -- they all fail in comparisson with the books. Some exceptions I've seen are Shawshank Redemption (brilliant, altough fairly different from the book), Carrie, The Stand and I haven't seen The Green Mile or The Shining (the Kubrick version) yet, but I hear that those are good too... But then: It, Maximum Overdrive, Christine, Cat's Eye, The Running Man (with Arnold Schwarzenegger), Pet Cemetary (1 and 2), Sleepwalkers, The Langoliers, Thinner, and more recently Dream Catcher are misserable attempts to do honour to the imaginative genius of Stephen King... Maybe Spielberg should do the Dark Tower-series... that could work... |

I have avoided the movie because I really enjoyed the book, but I expect I will have to see it some day just because Tim Curry is a minor Sex God. (Not in ML's league mind you, just a minor).
![]() The Green Mile was an outstanding movie, it's definately worth a look. I actually really enjoyed Pet Sematary (1), especially Fred Gwynne's character. I have mixed feelings about a Dark Tower movie- I am nuts about the Dark Tower series and I can't think of any actor who could do Roland (or Jake, Eddie, Odetta....) justice. I think I want to leave my mental pictures of all of them my own, rather than "replacing" them in my minds eye with actors from the film. (Only a few months until the next Dark Tower book is released!!!) Sherrie |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() I thought that the film version of Pet Sematary was good too. They seem to have kept as faithful to the book as poss, but they did "merge" the characters of Norma Crandall and Missy Bamebridge ![]() If you want to watch a complete mockery of a good S.K. book, watch Salem's Lot with David Soul in it.One of my favourite books but the film is downright awful ![]() There isn't enough room to list the characters merged into one,the pointless name changes of the characters who are left, the changes in the plot, the changes in what the characters are and do and the worst of all what they did to Barlow and Straker. In the book,Barlow is the brains and Straker is the faithful servant. In the film,Straker is the, well you can't call him the brains, but he's controling Barlow, while Barlow is portrayed as a mutant refuge from the muppet show ![]() Pure c..p ![]() And don't even get me started on Return to Salem's Lot ![]() |

I'm gonna try and get hold on the book sometime. But I thought it was a decent first part. Apparantly the 2nd part is utter crap though compared to the book.

I personally have very rarely found a book that has been done justice by a film or TV show.
I generally see the film then read the book as the book is usually far better. However, that is very hard to do given that I have already read most of the books by Stephen King. Just my tuppenn'orth!! |
