Default The Rare Songs: 46. Let It Be

Rare Songs: Let It Be

Okay Mr McCartney, Meat sings this song better than you. He's got a stronger voice and more feeling to sing it. And he's better than you alltogether. But Paul, don't be sad. I know you are a very good musician and if you had never composed that song, Meat could never sing it. Due to the fact, you've composed this song together with John, it appeared many years later on the B-side of the "Not Dry Eye In The House" single in the beginning of 1996. So I thank you Paul, thank you very much!

9/10

I think it's a live version of Let It Be. Meat's voice's as deep as on the new album. Isn't as good. Maybe Meat's voice is always better than Paul's or Lennon's but I think the original version is better.

My score: 6

What version of "Let It Be" do you have? The version I have isn't a live version, it's a wonderful studio version. That one, which came out on the "Dry Eye" single. Could it be, that you've got another version of this cover song, from a concert orso?

Maybe it's studio record but then it's worse than live version would be. Meat's voice is wrong in Beatles songs - I think...

I certainly prefer this to the other Beatles song which Meat recorded "Come Together"

A Beatles song from around 69 when I first became interested in music. Good memories. A fine performance from Meat

I give it 8 out of 10

Meat's version is the best version of this song, I've ever heard.

My score: 8

I think it's beautiful .. one of my favourite songs delivered by my favourite singer. For me it's sad, but at the same time comforting. The lyrics are poignant, sad, but at the same time offering hope .. . People are always saying this song or that song helped them through a difficult time. This was the last song I heard with my baby in my arms, yet I still find a message of hope in it. And Meat sings it with such feeling,. I was so glad to find he'd recorded it .. it's like a salve on the most raw feling. I love it.

Thank you for sharing this with us, Caryl. Made me cry.
I feel, one of the most beautiful songs ever made.

Love,

Thanks Mariella :)

It IS beautiful. I can never hope that Meat would include it in his live show, but when I saw the CD for sale I was transfixed .. but only for an instant before I hit Add To Basket!

We used clips from it to end the ROL Birthday Concert just after 9/11 and I know many people found it comforting then. How wonderful to know you've written a song that can bring such solace .. or in Meat's case (as he does time and time again) use your God given voice to do this!

Of the two Beatles songs, I like this this one the most. I have nothing with the Beatles, but since a lot of people say that the Beatles are the best, well, they must have done something right, but I just don't hear it.
Nothing much to say about this one, other than that it's nice. 7/10

Have to agree there White, alas I don't feel Meats voice "suits". Beatles songs should stay Beatles songs

I haven't heard this song yet. I only have the original Beatles version, and i like this song very much, but i would give everything only to hear that song once in my life performing by Meat, it must be great.
