if you listen to dead ringer then the new album it is lower
maybe its because dead ringer is 20 years old

I personally think Meats voice is mellowing and softer on CHSIB - not forgetting the passage of time that has elapsed since Bat out of Hell - the strength of Meats voice is still there to be called on when he needs it as I thought aptly when he appeared on Top of the Pops a couple of weeks ago when his voice sounded raw

dont get me wrong he still has a powerful voice but it does sound lower
on new album
it probly is due to age and how much work he has done over the last 30 years he does deserve a rest

i think Meat's voice has changed sooo much. Not just on this album but I think it changes all the time....each album he sounds different and each tour he sounds different.

Yeah....dead ringer is a great example.
I don't think his voice is any better or worse on any of em just different.
It's still Meat and he still rocks!

dont forget the trouble that meat had with his voice after booh, endured by constant touring. thats why he didnt record bad for good. although he's still got an amazing and powerful voice!

I thought his voice sounded quite weak - Patti and the band were much stonger. Was scared to say so at the time as it doesn't seem to be the done thing to say anything negative here

I know what you mean about being scared to air negative thoughts, but surely we should be able to discuss things negative AND positive. After all, nobody's 100% perfect.

(I get the feeling I should be scared now! Please don't hate me!!

I think this is a place to talk about all things related to Meat Loaf, and I think that even negative comments have their place so long as they are well thought out and based in fact. By that I mean, maybe "his voice sounded weaker than usual, I noticed on this particular verse, etc." rather than an off the cuff "that s*cks" or an obvious troll. Hey even ML commented himself on the Amsterdam concert that it may not have been up to his standards. (Though I would have done anything to be there!)
Just my opinion.....

Sherrie, you are absolutely right. I have also been reading posts that indicate it is 'not done' to say anything negative around here. I have always read those posts asking myself WHY this is on some peoples mind!?
I think it's only natural to say whatever it is you want to say about anything. If it's done respectfully, and I also think that is what is happening here most of the time!

Thank you,

Mariella

First i want to say that i have never heard Meat singing great in a tv studio. CHSIB on TOTP was , indeed, terrible. But in Amsterdam 23rd of april it soundend great. So don't worry about his voice.

Second: he didn't record Bad for Good cause he couldn't live with the songs.

Third: indeed, his voice sounds different on every tour and on every record. I think his voice is not lower, but these songs are written to sing it lower. Just like Object in the rear view mirror. he has the same voice there as on this record.

dont get me wrong his voice isnt weaker
just a bit lower than usual
ive seen him in his first tour in 1980 in antrim doing the bat tour
and the last time i saw him in dec 1999 his voice has changed
for the better
more mellow and also there is defentily songs that dont suit his style of singing
i have been a fan for the last 23years and i will not say anything hateful
about meat loaf but as i have read in the other postings he is only human
nobody is perfect
ps (i still miss steve buslow playing bass)

His voice has changed. It is every tour different.

I think that at the end of eighties, and the first years of the nineties his voice was at his best.
But his voice is still good.

i agree i think his voice has changed, i think it has a lot to do with how much work he was doing after BOOH, and as Ben said, he had all the trouble with his voice etc. I think it is just getting almost back to normal as it were. I personally think his voice is great at the moment, i've listened to a few old live recordings recently and it sounded like it must have been so painful for him to sing back then.

Thanks Michel for clarifying - I totally agree with you and think you have it in a nutshell - no one voice ever stays the same -

Oh Dottie, Dotster, Mega Loafer, I wish I knew just HOW to quote!
But like she said: no one voice ever stays the same!

Meat knows this too, it's part of who he is. It will be different every time.
I think it's also one of the reasons we love him this much.

I Testify!

I have just had the pleasure of watching the TOTP2 Dead Ringer (taped it but been away for ages) and I think that although his voice is cerainly different at the moment, it was a brilliant performance. His 'acting' throughout was superb, and I thought he didn't do himself any harm with his singing. Gotta say though, Patti!! Wow!! That girl just gets better and better - she truly does have an amazing voice.
