Im not an expert....but in the headline of an RSS feed, from an OFFICIAL source, that goes to paying customers, and whoever else subscribed...wouldnt it be adequate to use a correct spelling?

What exactly is wrong with the spelling? There are spelling differences between British and American English.

I'm assuming they mean 'cancelled' in the title

Yep. Americans usually spell it with a single "l".

No, we ABSOLUTELY don't!!!

This is just a bad grammar...

And yes, there are more important things in the world but being literate and educated is VERY important.

I couldn't tell. His countless efforts asking me to be his boyfriend are blinding.

That would explain it...when I first discovered Fred, in one of our conversations I've asked him to marry me...he flatly refused...now we know why...

Sorry, I promise I will never use an nearly unpronounceable word like "philology" again. Just wanted to point out that "canceled" is not incorrect, otherwise some well-known U.S. newspapers would be an example of illiteracy. But language is not static, it is exposed to a lot of influences and it constantly changes, especially in countries which attract large numbers of immigrants. Not to mention changes to the official spelling rules that are made on purpose. It doesn't matter whether you write "cancelled" or "canceled"; both are widely used and accepted.

Aaaahhhh... I gotta stop now, I start to feel like an intellectual and that frightens me.

I think it's an interesting discussion...maybe this is not the right place but still...I keep an open mind always...

color vs. colour
center vs. centre
meter vs. metre
savior vs. saviour
vandalize vs. vandalise

All correct...

But cancelled and cancellation - whether right or wrong in America for the most part is spelled as "cancelled" and I would know cause I work with this word every single day for many years now...just one of those professions...

With this said...it doesn't really matter...we all make mistakes and typos and me, in particular, will never learn sentence structure and always lose my "a" and "the"...here on the forum it's fine...somebody is rushing to look after children, somebody is at work and nobody is really paying attention...

My point was...if you write some official public announcements...make sure that it's done right...take some pride in what you're doing...

Here are a few examples. It's obviously no typo, since you can find that spelling in numerous other articles as well.
