Default 11. Jim - Bonnie Tyler: Total Eclipse Of The Heart

Jim-Bonnie Tyler: Total Eclipse Of The Heart (9)

Fantastic ballad. I love you Bonnie!!! And I love the video too. I think Jim became star with this song. And Bonnie too. I can speak about it in superlativus! I just miss one thing so I give "only" 9! I miss the orchestra so I'll give 10 other times.
And I have to say I love the boy who is singing the last 'Bright Eyes'!!! What a voice!

My score: 9

Of all the songs I've heard too much, I like this one the most. Rory Dodd's "Turn Around"s are stunning, Bonnie's vocals are ravishing, the lyrics are some of the best Jim has done, the music is very, very good...
Of all the versions I've heard I really love Bonnie's live version at the Night of the Proms, where John Miles played piano and did the male parts. Stunning performance with orchestra and all. Altough the demo version from Dance of the Vampires works beautifully as duet between Elaine Caswell and Steve Barton.

Score: 9/10

"Once upon a time life was simple and bright
Now there's only layers of dark
Nothing I can do -- a total eclipse of the heart"
from Dance of the Vampires

I have heasrd of people who were at NOTP that Bonnie didn't do a great job there.

This song is one of Steinman's best. The chorus is one of the best i have ever heard. I got hypnotised by this song back in 83 and i wasn't a Meat and Jim fan at that time. I became a fan in 1984 and i found out in 1988 that Jim wrote this piece. I was shocked. Cause Meat didn't sing it. Now i know that this song is never written for Meat and it doesn't suit him. Still, this song is pure art.

This song is 10/10

I have no choice but to give this one a 10.

In my opinion it's one of the three best Steinsongs (others being Meat's For Crying out Loud and Barton's Unstillbare Gier). It's interesting that it become such a big hit for it's not so easy a song. It's long, it's big and the lyrics aren't that obvious.
