Default next album , if any?

what does everyone think will be released next from meat?
i suppose meat is coming to the end of hes career
i reckon a bat trilogy set, the 3 albums together and then
a greatest hits package,, i would love to see a new studio album
but the chances are slim,,

it would be great if Meat released a box set of all the three Bats. Maybe do a movie based on the albums. Titled the Bat Out Of Hell Story. Then do a dvd with all of Meat Loaf's music videos, from Bat Out Of Hell, Anything 4 Love, Modern Girl, Objects, Did I Say That, The Monster Is Loose etc, and maybe release a single based on his life, career and his adoreable fans who've been with him from the very start, and add a new video based on all that.

If Bat 3 had been a success then I think there was going to be some sort of box set with all three Bats and various live and previously unreleased songs. I doubt it's going to happen now though.

I reckon the next thing to be released will be Sony putting out a 'special' 30th anniversary version of Bat 1 with a couple more live tracks, probably taken from the Nassau show again.

I agree i think there'll be Bat 1 with the same old same old extras all over again...maybe a dvd with interviews from that period possibly...but who knows.

Part of me would love there to be a new meat loaf album followed by a tour...but after what this, and previous, tour has taken out of him I'm not sure it'd be a good thing.

As i say who knows.

Maybe after this tour there will be a few one-off shows? A sort of greatest hits type thing but that's probably the best we can hope for.

Bat 3 is Meats 3rd most successful album! What more do you want?! it's had more than 2.5 million sales worldwide...... That's a f**king lot...... Stop comparing it to Bat 1 and 2's sales.... Those two album sold way above estimate..... Bat 3 sold what was expected!..... Plus, we have quite a few more years to go yet.

its hard not to compare them though paul, when the title and marketing suggests they are all part of a trillogy, and bat 3 is the concluding part!!! kinda harry potter like lol. besides, as is normal for me.. a completely irrelevant posts.. in todays sun, when they were slabbering about the net and elton john, they said eltons last album shifted 100k units (uk sales i assume) and everything is relative i suppose, btw, i thought deadringer had shifted 6 or 8 million units or something

I didn't say don't compare the albums..... I said don't compare sales...... As for Dead Ringer; No it hasn't sold that many, lol...... Either way, if it had, I think Bat 3 has had a better reception worldwide considering it reached the top 10 in America...... Dead Ringer reached 45! Whoo.

Woohoo! I'm back from dying! I LOVE how Paul has his little book which he means he knows everything!

Like CHSIB was in the chart longer than Bat 3, Bat 1 has never left the UK Chart, sales only count for the top 100.

Just afew points. Both dead ringer and welcome to the neighborhood have sold more than Bat 3 in the UK. The very best of has too...

As for the 2,500,000 sales, and thats what they expected, complete rubbish. I can't remember what it was, but I posted it somewhere else, it was around 6 million.

Also, someone posted the other day that meat was coming up to 2 million worldwide sales, I'm quite shocked to find another 500,000 sales in a matter of day! I'm finding it hard to work out why Meat isn't topping any charts this week.

Bat 3 is selling less than 200 copies a week in the UK now. The only thing thats selling at the moment is the virgin 'Heaven Can Wait - The Best Of Meat Loaf'.

Most of americas totals are not a true reflection. They count how many albums have been advanced. So a store could order 5 million copies and that counts.

Anyway, i'm off to do some work now! I'm sure there will be lots more tripe to come after this post.

As for a new album? Meat would need to find a new lable as I don't think they'll (Mercury) will be releasing another one. They've already dropped the bat 3 live idea!

I was talking worldwide...... The whole America business, about sales counting, is all matter of opinion Sir Music Man. I think you should agree when I say it has had better reception worldwide than all his other albums....... Without just looking at sales. It has had very good chart positions aswell as good chart standings; especially in Germany.

In my post a few months ago when I said CHSIB had spent longer in the UK charts...... It had. You disappointed me because not even you, 'Mr Know It And I'm Better Than Everybody Else', knew that.

As I remember, you was debating the fact that only the top 100 counted and I simply got bored of going around in circles with you, as much as I like doing that :)

That's a different issue which I didn't highlight above because I, just like you, got tired of going around in circles!

I don't care who started it! What started as a reasonable conversation has descended into puerile trash and it ends now please!

Correct but only to a point...it's even worse...the system that calculates position in the charts, i.e. records sales, is tied in with the registers of certain stores...so...it is based on sales in those stores...however, returns do not count...and that says it all...

I'm going to say it and I know alot of people don't like to hear it bat 3 is not a true bat album. It was not all jim steinman's music and the only reason why most bought it cause it said bat 3. Sorry to burst bubble but it's true. Most hate me for saying it.....btw I thought on steinmans site/blog there where talks about another album anyway.

Isn't it nice to read a forum full of well thought out, adult conversation ...

To get back on topic I can't imagine we'd see anything new for a while, re-releases and box sets perhaps but nothing you, I'd have thought Mr Loaf will be taking a hard earned rest after tour next year

Totally agree here, with the length of this tour I'd imagine it hard to fit in many visits to a recording studio and with the strain it puts on the voice, who'd have the energy to do it?

LOL! Yeah, what an originaland imaginative idea.

By the way, I don't know if anyone has mentioned this yet, but Bat 1 has been out for 30ish years, and Bat 2 for 14ish. It's not really sensible to expect Bat 3 to have sold anywhere near their volumes for that reason. Especially as these days rocks album sales are much lower in any case. Saying that, if Meat and the record company expected 5 - 6 million and they only got 2 then it's disappointing.
