Life Is A Lemon, Objects are great from Live Around The World. But, my favourite live version is Good Girls Go to Heaven from Live Around The World. It's not my favourite studio track but live it is brilliant.

My favourite has got to be Paradise.

Seen it in two different shows - Welcome to the Neighbourhood and CHSIB. I loved it both times. The story telling that goes with the song is wonderful.

Difficult question .
I supose if I had to pick one, it would be Bat Out Of Hell from the live at Wembley album .
It was on the first ever Meat cassette (a what? I hear the younger members ask ) I got so it will always have a very special place in my heart.

Default Favourite Live Version?

My fav live version of a Meat Loaf song is 'Life is a lemon' from the Bat out of Hell 2 picture show video.

Just a really hard rocking version that hasn't been captured as well since...not that any of the other versions since are bad ones.

My favourite live song is

"Left In The Dark" performed on 24th May 1996 in Zurich.

Meat sat on a chair, in the dark... rough and magical.
He made me cry...

Storytellers' "RnR Dreams" is pretty amazing too... just love all that improvisation and intensity!

I'm not sure to understand your question.
You mean like surrounded by a holy light?
If you meant that... yeeeees!

no, actually he was in the middle of the stage, sat on a chair, there was a redlamp above him (the "holy" one) and everything else was in the dark! and I suppose Mark was there too... but I must admit I do not remember that detail...

I guess he changed it a bit during the tour afterwards...

As for Mark, oh yeah, I'm sure he was there, Meat does nothing without his piano player! The tickling of the ivories gives life to all the tracks, regardless of the song, IMHO.

As for Mark, he may have been left in the dark...but to read and to be able to discuss live music on these forums is a light in my life! TY

That's what i am thinking. Om Bat 2 it really sucks: don't like his voice at all and don't like the arrangement, but this live version is really something.

I just got myself a copy of the Storytellers DVD, and I really like the version of Rock And Roll Dreams from that one. A Kiss isn't too bad either, and the commercial break on Paradise is hilarious... but where the hell is Life Is A Lemon? That version owns!

I had the same reaction!
There're a few songs missing... I guess it's the edit version!

ps: yes, RnRDreams rocks!

It is Meats gift to transport songs to another level live! Just listen to the less asskicking original versions of Lawyers, Mercury Blues, Forever Young or We Are Family and realize how Meat uplifts them on stage. And you know that life is worth living when they do that to SteinMeatmusic, like

Out Of The Frying Pan
(even grows during a tour when the medium section "wanna take you..." - this tour accompanied by the band whispering "fire" - and the guitar at the end are extended!)

Rock and Roll Dreams
(was in the setlist for the first German concerts and had the over-the-top rocking climax that made it way over 10 minutes of pleasure!)

Lemon
(fantastic drum intro on recent tours, now drums from heaven open CHSIB)

just Paradise is sometimes too much theatre and too less music for me.

Whereas most acts/musicals try to sound as steril as on a record (if not they are miming to the record), Meats songs are created and extended live differently each night. Which makes it a reall task being a band member and a reall pleasure seeing multiple shows. Therefore, Meat Loaf concerts are the reall LIVE event IMO.

Couldn't Have Said It Better Myself at the Mohegan Sun Casino in Connecticut -- it was the very first time I saw him sing it live. Absolutely amazing !
