Nope, they were B-Sides for singles released in the 80's
Take A Number was the B-Side for Modern Girl R.P.M was the B-Side for Rock N Roll Mercenaries. |

Take a Number is the B-side of the Modern Girl single, and RPM is the B-side of Rock N' Roll Mercenaries.
Neither have been released on CD afaik. (oops, missed page 3 there) Tracking down the singles looks like your best bet. AFAIK they can't be downloaded legally. Last edited by evil nickname; 22 May 2006 at 18:03. |

I have the 'Car Trouble' soundtrack on vinyl, although Meat's song "Car Trouble... Hearts On Fire!" isn't exactly the best thing he's done...
Also there's the interview on the B-side of the 12" single of "Read 'Em & Weep", and the four tracks on the Live in Europe '82 12" EP that was released in the '80s. That featured live versions of "2 Out Of 3", "Took The Words", "I'm Gonna Love Her For Both Of Us" and "Dead Ringer For Love". The US remix of "Modern Girl" is on the 2CD "Very Best Of Meat Loaf", first issued in '98, but reissued in 2003 with all the same tracks, but shuffled about. I personally prefer the album version of Modern Girl, and am not really a fan of the bass-heavy US remix. There's a nifty little remix of "Razor's Edge" that was released as a single in '84 with "Paradise..." on the flip, which frustratingly fades during the play-by-play. I know that the CD "12-inch Mixes" claims to feature the remix of "Razor's Edge", but it is in fact a lie - it's the album version on there. The only way to get the remix is on the single, which is along the same lines as the "Midnight..." remix from the previous year. On i-Tunes UK, you can buy & download Meat's version of Stand By Me (complete with that really weird vocal effect in the middle, which, frankly, puts me off a tad.) Also, you will be pleased to know that "The Intergalactic Touring Band", featuring Meat Loaf singing "Keeper Keep Us" has FINALLY been released on CD. I got mine from http://stores.ebay.co.uk/Movie-Mars-UK about a month ago. Also, the tracks Meat sang on Ted Nugent's "Free-For-All" album in 1976 are worth getting, as well as the original LA Roxy cast album of The Rocky Horror Show, which has Meat singing a different version of "Hot Patootie" called "Whatever Happened To Saturday Night?" AS WELL as the song "Eddie", which in the movie was called "Eddie's Teddy" and was sung by the Dr von Scott character (Meat played both Eddie and Dr von Scott in the stage version.) I'm sure I'll think of more as soon as I hit 'post', but this should give you all something to do! |

I don't actually have the EP, but I do have a bid in for the clear vinyl version (Irish issue) on ebay. You may be right. I know that 'Stand By Me' is on the 12" single of "Nowhere Fast", but on i-Tunes it's a digital source, so the quality will be better than a 'convert' from vinyl. And it's only 79p!!! As for the website plug - hey, it's business! |
