To be totally fair, I have been following this threat, but have not said anything. Diane seems to have been doing a great job trying to communicate with the record company to gain answers for the fan club. Seems as if Caryl and Diane are getting the same, yet different answers. Looks like another case of "The Texas Sidestep" if you ask me~!

Thanks David. I think Caryl and I are receiving the same info from the record company ie due to minimal radio play the decision was taken not to release the new edit of CHSIB. The original release has not been deleted and is still available to purchase.

It's obvious too that people are still buying it since Sue has so rightly pointed out that it's moved back up the official rock singles chart this week!

I thought the release date given out on 27 June was based on the information on the promo CD on eBay? And that it was also referred to on Capital FM?

Clive's explanation seems to me to be entirely plausible. I think that the problem has been Mercury's failure understand that Meat's fans follow up any information with enthusiasm, and that in the absence of clear communication expectations will be raised, rather than their communicating different information to Diane and to me (unless they have at some point written to Diane and said a release date had been confirmed.)

If they had responded more quickly to the many enquiries made to ask if this could be confirmed as a definite release date of some new version of the CD, a more accurate picture could have been provided imo.

But I saw no threats :)

I tend to agree, both Diane & Caryl have managed to aquire prompt feed back and keep us all posted. Which is why I suggested earlier in the thread that approaches through establish routes and contacts would be far more effective than the rest of us emailing to company.

However they should have made it clear to radio stations and their contacts that this was only a PROPOSED release date. Either that or the wrong assumption has been made from the copy offered for sale on Ebay, in which case this was also assumed by the radio stations.

I hope that they continue to communicate through these contacts with fans to avoid future confusion, and nearer the time keep us informed of the new release. Hopefully they have now released that Meat has many staunch fans who do try to keep upto date with what is planned.

My thanks to both Diane and Caryl for actively seeking out all the information, I'm sure that communications are not always forthcoming, and it must be very frustrating for you, with us lot seeking information

I thought I made it perfectly clear that the info given about the proposed release being 14th July came from Mercury's promo copies of the new edit which were distributed to radio stations. On reading the info provided with the single Capital FM obviously believed this to be the case as well. The info is for the benefit of the radio stations and I think it's fair to assume that they can broadcast what is provided unless specifically asked not to do so.

We all know only too well how things quickly change in the music industry and unfortunately the single isn't going to be released. I didn't think anyone was questioning Mercury's explanation.

Thank you Sin. The MLUKFC has always worked hard to try and keep everyone updated with the latest information from official sources.

I apologise if I gave fans false hope of a release date for the new edit of CHSIB but this was the information provided with the promo copies distributed to radio stations.

I thought you did .. I was just responding to the suggestion that you and I had been given different information by Mercury . and covering all the possible angles. But it seems to me we have been given the same info by the company, and that it was the wording on the promo CDs that was misleading, and should probably have been "Possible release date"
