On another note, going slightly off topic, didn't Meat say at the MSO concert it was the first time he had done FCOL live since 1977? My friend was upset about this because there's the version on LATW, and there's some other performances during 85 i think? Anyone care to shed some light on this?
The LATW version was a souncheck. Listen to teh commentary track on the CD. He has done it since 1977, but not in its entirety.

he never did it in 1983 or 1985 or 1987 or 1988 or 1989.

Caryl will probably be along shortly to point out that she heard Meat do the whole song at one of the Storytellers shows in the US, so Meat's comment before the MSO performance was a little porky. I still think that this is the best live version so far, with MSO coming in second:

I've no recollection of it ever being performed live in 1985 during the Bad Attitude era.
No I didn't hear it in the BA era either .. and yes, he sang it at some of the the Storytellers, and at the one I went to it was the entire song .. and perfect :) No harm in my saying this surely? Such a special song that so rarely featured .. it was memorable and made our evening incredible.

And with all the many songs Meat showcased during Storytellers, I think it's hardly surprising that he might not remember every song from every performance

Also saying "...The last time I did this song, live, was in March 1978 in New York City, except for the couple of times I did it on the Storytellers tour..." loses a bit of the impact.

Yes, Hot Patootie was done on the Storytellers tour, so when it was found out that this was the mystery song for the HCTB tour it surprised me. Maybe he just doesn't remember all the ad libs he did during that tour.

That's the problem when you like telling stories.

There was a time when he also said he'd never sang I'm Gonna Love Her For Both Of Us live since 1981, so you have to take a lot of what Meat says as embellished.

i don't see the problem if he said "i havent performed it live since 1988" or "I haven't performed it in about 20 years"
