Promotion won't work anymore. He needs a new single to rock the chart again

Hey, Bart! You know, I've been thinking the same thing!!

I've been wondering if that's why Meat scheduled the UK concerts in the middle of the first US leg of the World tour--to come out with the second single from CHSIB. OR the rerelease of CHSIB, the single, if he's still planning on doing that.

What does everyone think about this? Would the timing be good--early July?? Or does he need something sooner than that?

Meat has already talked about releasing Did I Say That? as the second single. I was just curious how everyone thinks it will do in the UK, for instance--compared with the title cut from the album?

Bart, I can't remember: Has DIST been released in your country already or just CHSIB?? If it has, how did it do? And if it hasn't, how do you think it WILL do in Holland?

Love,

The chart is 15 not 16, An answer to all those who talk about reviews,
CHSIB the album has recieved the best reviews of any album I've ever made. The Reviewers talk about the other Bats, and compare the new album to them but their reviews of the Bats were worse. They didn't like Them. Got alot of reviews with 4 stars which a Bat record never Got, to compare Albums, Why? Any way you can't!! You can say you like one more than another that's fine but you can't compare, it is impossible. you can compare 2 apples but you can't compare an apple to a bus!!

Just try an enjoy!!
If you are a Meat Loaf Fan you Like all the Records, yes it's true ,some more than others. That's what makes the world go round.
CHSIB is a GREAT GREAT record. And so is Bat!!!!

Fireball,

Is is true that the album has gone gold in England and Germany, with total worldwide sales of over 400,000? Very impressive, considering only the most hardcore American fans have even heard of it yet.

Hi, FireBall! Lovely, as always, to hear from you! Thanks for the great response!

I can't speak about apples, but I think most of us fans out here will ALWAYS have that amazing image in our heads of you and the band on top of that BUS on Oxford Street!!!

Relax and enjoy the CD?? You bet! That's what most of us are doing each and every day!

But you know, with this being the first new album in quite a while, plus still being 'pumped' up from all those 'energizing' promotions you've just completed, it's easy for emotions to ride high, you know?! When people come along and start to put the CD or you down--for whatever reason--it doesn't take much these days to get any of us going!! We all want and hope for the best for you!

But I know that nothing makes us happier than to hear YOU are pleased with the album and with the reaction you have been receiving to it!! It does our hearts good to hear this from you!!

Thanks, Meat! Hope the rehearsals are going well for you!

Sending our love to everyone there!!

And some especially BIG hugs to you, mister!!

Love,
MB

Kudos to Fire Ball on all the great reviews.

Of course the bad ones in the past didn't seem to hurt. Especially like the story about he was helped by being called the worst in the history of Rock & Roll, too funny.

I just wish reviewers would actually sit and listen to a an album with a clear, objective mind. Hard to do granted, but all the comparsions made reveal that is not what they even attempt. Judge and enjoy, or dislike, something for what it is, at least that's what I do.

I listened, I judged, I LIKE!

Not sure whether you mean fan reviews here or published critic reviews. As far as we are concerned I agree. As I've already said I can't see why people feel the need to compare. Meat's albums are not a series of Die Hard movies after all .. so it's like trying to compare Die Hard and Sixth Sense. Bruce Willis is in both, but they are different pieces of work; you may prefer a film or preformance but they don't bear comparison.

If you mean published "professional" reviews, those I've seen, whilst generally referring to and referencing BOOH (which I guess is inevitable), have been bloody good, and I'm glad we lobbied for them :) Easy for reviewers to talk about BOOH now as some kind of epiphany! In hindsight how could they not? But at the time of its release I seem to recall there was much use of "overblown" and "over long" etc .. Meat took it on the road and built a success with audiences. This time a lot of good things have been said, and few reviewers have suggested anything but anticipated success.

Interesting though that again Meat has had to again make it so himself, and has done so. without the publicity machine that surrounds and boosts today's young "pop idols". In fact it's done remarkably well and much better than the latter would do without that support.

I have to say out of all the meat albums, i think this is the one hardest to chose a single from. Some songs on WTTN for example sat out as being single releases but on CHSIB there is sooo many. Presuming 3 will be released as singles i think it'll be a very hard choice to find another 2 out of:

DIST, WITE, Love You Out Loud (Which Magazine critics seem to love) Man of Steel, Testify and Because of You.

Personally, after a lot of consideration, id go for DIST and Testify - i feel if meat gets testify released it'll draw a lot of attention to him as it'll appeal to EVERYONE!

OH AND THEN THERE'S DO IT! THATS IF NIKE GET A HOLD OF IT!

According to the "Official UK Top 40 Albums chart" at http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio1/chart/top40/albums.shtml on Sunday (when I posted my message) CHSIB is 16, not 15.

Hopefully Meat is talking about a midweek chart postion and the album has climbed back up to 15.

I've seen it reported in an article that the album has sold 300,000 in the UK .. so I would have thought 400,000 worldwide would have been a certainty .. but not sure on what sales the awards are based on .. for eg the UK (BPI) award:
Silver (200,000 sales)
Gold (400,000 sales)
Platignum (600,000 sales)
Double Platignum (1.2 million)

Whilst the US (RIAA) require 500,000 for Gold single or album and 1 mill for Platinum (US style and spelling :) )

If the UK awards are based on UK sales then it has gone Silver, but not Gold if the 400,000 is worldwide sales, and it will need to sell half a million to get a US Gold .. and whether that's based on US or worldwide sales I don't know.

Anybody help out?

Thanks Fireball .. and congratulations .. it's the least you and the album deserve. Any news on the re-release of the single which you mentioned a couple of weeks ago? Mercury haven't responded on that .. although they did replace my two copies of the album .... :)

Well hey now promo guys
Who needs you?
The album just went platinum, my concerts sold out too
Driven crazy by a Mercury
I was maddened by a Mercury
So I hitched my pants and hired a bus
And drove that s-u-c-k-e-r down the road!

(aaah .. finally we got past Nanny!!)

May your star never falter Meat xo

That's good to hear, because here in the netherlands it's not doing well.

To bad, eventhough radiostations are playing CHSIB...

For some reason, the fact that it's one above Madonna thrills the heck out of me! She is from the same hometown as my Dad, and in Truth or Dare she actually rolls around on the ground at the cemetary where my great grandparents (and her mum, as well) are buried. I've always been a bit distressed by that scene! Moving up two places is certainly a good thing- maintain that momentum for two weeks and boom, back in the top 10!
