A very cool excerpt...I know firsthand what divorce is like, after experiencing it happen to my own tight-knit family....Amazing to hear a little bit about Meat, Pearl and Scott's experience with some of the harsh outfall, but also some of the good/healing that can come out of it. Even if it does involve going a little crazy at times :P I must say, I would have loved to be at that show where he performed after 15 marguretas and still kicked a** lol.

Wow, that really doesn't paint Meat in the best light. I can't say I'm a fan of the excerpt over all, either; it reads like someone's blog.

I like it - I think it's honest.
No it probably doesn't paint a brilliant picture of Meat, but he was going through one of the most difficult periods of his life and - at times - he probably wasn't the nicest person to be around. Happens to all of us. I think Scott's account is honest, respectfully written and I'm sure has been put together with Meat and Pearl's blessing. |

I just don't see how being portrayed as an angry drunk with the potential to be violent is a good thing?
Meat Loaf already gets people throwing accusations of being drunk on stage by some and this extract is hardly going to help matters. |

With regards to alcohol, I think there's a difference between being "drunk" and being "a drunk". Scott recalls one occassion where Meat had a lot to drink but I don't think there's any implication that Meat was drinking heavily on a daily basis. |

I'm not suggesting that Meat Loaf wasn't angry, I'm just saying that being portrayed in that way is very rarely a good thing.
The extract refers to Meat Loaf threatening to punch Scott Ian's teeth down his throat. I'm sorry but that's not exactly a nice thing to be reading regardless of whether it's the truth. |

Who cares
That is a glimpse into someone's private life which is no ones business I was more impressed how he owned songs he didn't know the words to. That is more what he is all about |

The original post only refers to the fact that things get a little crazy and had I have known more then I probably wouldn't have read it. I won't be reading any more of Scott Ian's memoirs. |

I'm not blaming anyone for my having read the wretched article or denying that it was my choice to click the link. I did however say that the member who brought the thing to this forum mentioned nothing about Meat Loaf's behaviour other than things got a little crazy (which is rather vague) to suggest that people might not want to read the article. |

Bottom line: it was your choice to click the link. Other people do not owe you a detailed review of what you're about to read before you decide to read it. To moan about this is quite ridiculous. But what do I know

Wow his entire experience with meat is exactly what mlukfc's experience with Meat is:
He gets mad, may rage, will come back like nothing happened.... but in the end he loves us ![]() |

It is what seems to be a genuine reflection of someone where people can't say he is not in a position to know so for some that may create an issue. It sure shoots sown a defense mechanism.
Meat Loaf is not Jesus or Ghandi or anyone of the sort. The drinking thing has been mentioned by other people who would know in their interviews but I seem to be the only one that read the article so I never brought it up here. The person said this in a published article but I'm not throwing them to the wolves on here. People keep swearing they don't worship Meat then proceed to write as though they do - not anyone in this thread mind you.. Everyone at some point has their tough times and indulge in a few drinks - the man is human. The fact that he has his moods and angry rants should not surprise anyone on here of all places. IMO everyone needs to cut both Scott and Meat a break. Take this account as it is. Nothing in it was overly surprising to me whatsoever. |

I think it was a great article. For anyone whose parents or themselves have gone through a divorce and seen how it effects the divorcees, it is important to understand that the stress of being with someone when you know you have tried your damnedest for 10 or 20 odd years but it isn't working, you become different people whilst at the very end of it. You are not yourself - and why should you be? You are going through one of the worst times of your life. It is a window into Meat's resiliance if anything, despite being in one of the toughest times of his life, with his long relationship with Leslie coming to an end, he could see Scott's awesomeness and he could see through his own difficulties enough to apologize and put effort into a friendship with him. It is also a tribute to Leslie's strength - the friendliness towards Scott and her warmth when inside she must have felt like hell. These are two amazing people who are dealing with grief in their own way.
The article gives me even greater respect and love for Meat (and of course, everyone else involved). Everyone gets angry - there is nothing wrong with anger, it is just an emotion, and a healthy one at that! Given the circumstances, I am sure everyone was angry at someone during a very, very trying time for the family. |

I saw this elsewhere and was a little taken aback at the article. My response to where I saw it was that it reminded me of a protective dad.. mine was very much so and sons in laws had similar- i took it as a dad protective thing - I can see how it is the protective dad thing..
In terms of the article and the things written on Meat-I am hoping Meat knew what was being written and approved it. I read above it was approved... as open as I am with my family stuff and I am- there are some things that I personally will never say in public. But if it is approved then so be it. As to a choice in clicking on the link... If there is something posted re Meat- i am clicking and reading. I would not be able to NOT look and read. |
