I share your point of view Jenna Yes Meat and Jim have made amazing music together, and I'm looking forward to hearing what they come up with.
However, Meat has been working working a lot of other great songwriters here recently (my favorites Evan Watson and Rick Brantley come to mind)
So for me, the excitement is knowing that it's going to be a great album no matter what .... something to truly look forward to. As long as Meat and the fans are happy,
then I'm happy to !

Just caught the interview and it came across fine. My partner noticed that Meat was not as quick-witted as usual, but put it down to being sat across from Jonathan Ross... who talks enough for everyone usually! We thought it was a good interview, shared some interesting news, and Meat came off well

Hi there Meat. Watched the interview over the weekend. I thought you did a good job. You were quick with your responses. You handled the questions regarding Jim very well. You growled like a dog and made an underwear joke. How could it not have been a good interview.

I do agree with you that you may have looked a little tired towards the end but you are on a massive tour right now and you only had 4 hrs sleep on top of not eating. You did great man, don't be so hard on yourself. I know that is easy for me to say.

Take care.

Am I the only one who thinks that three Steinman songs is not nearly enough ? I wouldn't dare to believe that Jim is actually writing new songs for this - but the unrealised demos represent at least an album's worth of unrecorded material.

Man, there's a new record in the works, it contains Steinman material, it's got a song featuring 3 of Meat's most well known and loved duet partners (and not ever Wario would have predicted THAT).

The glass isn't half full, the glass isn't half empty, the glass is f*cking overflowing.

Good times

Perhaps not. But I think most of us are simply excited by getting a new album, and one which will have possibly 3 Steinman penned songs, along with some other great songs Meat will have chosen and some of which he has recorded. I have loved the songs he's recorded on his last two stunning albums, and hope for more as good as them.

My hope is that given the length of time involved we WILL get something new, along with those above, rather than an album of unreleased demos.

Meat,
We watched it just now, and thought you were funny, genuine and it was a really good interview.

I got the sense that you wanted to get the news out but JR was wanting to get his pic of Cher up, at your expense. I thought you did a good job in getting to the news

As other's have said, you didn`t look stupid at any point and fielded JR's "laugh a minute" crap well (did I mention I don`t like JR?)

The only problem was the interview was FAR too short

Can't wait for the new CD

Well, I'd say the glass is half full at 3 songs.

My point was that there's enough material out there for a whole album - I'm no fan of Jonathan Ross but he did say what most people were probably thinking - why isn't there a full album ? Afterall its the completeness of BOOH 1 & 2, and to an extent Dead Ringer, that make them such awesome albums.

If there was a full album then the glass would be ~~~~ing overflowing.

Although I'd like to see a full Steinman album I think that if he doesn't have the time/energy or whatever to oversee all the production it wouldn't really matter. On Bat 3 we got loads of Steinman songs all produced by Desmond Child. I feel that that part of the album is actually quite sub par and hasn't aged well at all, not like the previous Steinman stuff on Bat 1 and Bat 2. (I actually do like the Desmond Child related songs themselves and find those much more interesting / better produced!). It feels like they scraped the bottom of the barrel, just to get the Steinman name on there. I think Bat 3 would have sounded better with only Bad for Good (more piano though and God Speed back in there), a better produced Seize The Night and a better produced Cry to Heaven, whilst leaving the other Steinman songs off whilst keeping all the Child stuff (maybe without If God and Cry over Me!). But then of course calling it "The Monster is Loose" only and leaving off the "songs by" title on the front (such sad details are important to me).

My point is just throwing all the remaining Steinman demos on there probably won't work.

Some people even want to hear "Total Eclipse" and "making love" rehashed! (Hey turn around Meat, you little bright eyed guy you. and for a man singing the making love line sounds a little bit creepy somehow - having said that some of the lyrics are genius and would work for Meat "I can make all the stadiums rock")

I am hoping for some new songs, even if there are only two and hopefully "What Part of My Body Hurts The Most" on there as I do think it was written especially for Meat. Other than that I hope it's as good as "Welcome to the neighbourhood". Something like that. I'd be happy.

If we had never heard of Meat's plans for a new album, and if Meat turned up on JR and said "me and Jimmy are releasing an EP of three songs" I kind of feel you would have been happier at that news rather than mourne the fact that Meat was going to be doing other material as well.

IMHO, take what you can from the album, everything else is just gravy

It's a great time to be a Steinmeat fan

Now if we can just get him to tour the album

My personal view...Meat will never be able to win this one as people will always want more. I appreciate it stems from a positive place because Meat and Jim's collaborations are so loved, but the expecatation on them to do more is so high that it's actually not achievable.

HCTB and HIAH weren't good enough because there was no Jim, Brave & Crazy has Jim but it's not enough Jim...the poor sods can't win!

Right now we're in the middle of the Farewell Tour, so IMO anything else after this is a complete bonus.

Indeed. One thing at a time. Lets kick up a fuss about a DVD of the tour before focusing on the next album.

I regard everything released after 1999 as a bonus as I really thought THAT was the end at the time.

This may be true but we must give Wario credit, Credit for what I am not sure but I think he will have predicted something.

Before you chip in Wario....

In accord with that .. and as Meat has said he expects 2, hopefully three, Steinman songs, it's clearly not something that's planned.

I follow Meat. He has for me delivered two superb albums since Cavallo unleashed him, and I would have been entirely delighted with that. Steinman has written some of the best songs ever penned, Meat and he started an extraordinary journey together which gave us some sublime music, Meat loves Jim and imo wants to work with him because of that, not for any other reason. If they can do this for some songs I am thrilled .. and perfectly happy to stand back, allow them to choose what they will work on, Meat to decide what his entire album will consist of.

As Lucy said, the expectations of some are so high that they could never be achieved .. Mine are that I will get an album which will bring them together creatively to the extent that IS achievable. I'm not expecting or even wanting them to try and create another BOOH, or Bat2, or bat anything really. A damn great record that gives me more of Meat's new found musical energy and drive, and brings him together collaboratively with the man with whom he started his amazing journey seems a fitting legacy.

I agree Lucy,we're getting a fantastic bonus .. and something to celebrate even as we feel a great sadness at the end of the tours ..

I think it has more to do than just friendship. Both of them are equally at their best when they are working together. A lot of the non Steinman songs that people have mentioned here are in my opinion writers trying to write like Steinman, which is not a bad thing.
I doubt we will see any older songs. More likely new songs and I have my doubts about three songs. I think that if Jim decides to he could write a whole album.
For Meat, it is a great opportunity to work with someone who has given him the songs for his greatest accomplishments. Most of the reviews have been more or less centered around the Jim songs and especially FCOL, by far one of the greatest songs ever written.
Whatever comes out of this, I am certain it will be something great.

It's still very early days. Meat and Jim may get working together and end up with a full album of Steinman songs. Or one of them may throw a childish fit, pack up their ball and go home.

I said Meat loves Jim I wouldn't argue they have had their best and most memorable successes working together. What prompted my saying "love" is that I don't believe it's about chasing numbers, or even "success" .. but a belief that they were meant to be together, that they were bound together, and Meat I think still feels that, still feels that extraordinary closeness. Perhaps also now a feeling of completing the circle.

Don't get me wrong, three songs are better than none - its just the potential is out there, without Jim having to write ANY new songs, for a BOOH 3 / 4 or at least a genuine 'Last At Bat'. While there's still this possibility then we should say what we think / feel ! Just IMHO ...

Much as I'd love a new full Meat & Jim album, I don't need to hear Meat sing every scrap of Jim material he can get his hands on regardless of suitability or quality.

If Meat has found other songs for Brave & Crazy that are of the quality of say, 'Peace On Earth', 'Elvis In Vegas', 'Prize Fight Lover', 'Martha', 'Giving Tree' etc., I'm more than eager to hear them and wouldn't want to see them jettisoned for the sake of it.

Besides, after Bat 3 I don't think I ever expected to hear Meat sing another new (or new/old) Jim song. If there's even one last great Meat & Jim epic to come, I'm thrilled.
