Thanks for posting the article Wario. I always love to see Meat getting positive recognition for his acting talents. It is too rare that is given accolades as an actor. Fight Club is one of my all-time fave movies along with The Rocky Horror Picture Show. Both would be on my Top 10 list. I think Meat's acting talents are very underrated

I wish that he had never done this movie.
I love fight club - movie and book. I love Meat Loaf. But this movie made me look at him different. Plus, that's becoming the thing that he's best known for among younger people. |

If you don't mind me asking, why did it make you look at Meat differently?

Many of Meat Loaf's movie roles have been rather small. When he had a bigger role, it often was in movies hardly anyone knows. Fight Club is one of the best movies ever made, and he finally got a larger audience as an actor. In which respect could that be a problem? |

I had no idea that he had done TVBOML or Storytellers. FC was the first that I had heard out of him in years. I knew he did acting, but they all tended to be B-Movies. It was also the first time I had seen him with short hair. When you cut your hair short you tend to look older, so for more me he had lost some of the youthful vigor. Plus I'm a mark for long hair - I never looked at Brad Pitt the same way again after he cut his hair. Same with Metallica and countless other. I only thought David Beckham was cool when he had long hair. After he cut it I didn't give a crap any more (I hate soccer BTW). I didn't know that he was still performing until I saw an ad for CHSIB on TV and I was interested again. This was in 2003, so I was easily able to get all previous material and information within hours. I was hooked more than ever. The biggest reason is because "his name is Robert Paulson" is what most people (my age) think of when I bring his name up. I prefer that people know him for his music, not for his comparatively unsuccessful acting career. To me that's like knowing Mick Jagger because of his role in 'Freejack' (which was also an awesome movie BTW ![]() In all honesty though, I think it was the hair. ![]() Last edited by Evil Ernie; 19 May 2012 at 03:07. |

![]() ![]() Meat is obviously proud of the job he did on that movie because he mentions it so much in interviews, ot at least seems genuinly happy when the interviewer mentions it. There was a lot of Buzz about the film too (hey, Brad Pitt was in it ![]() I agree that he should be known more for his music, and I think most people do, but if somebody didn't know him and saw him in the film, perhaps it's better to be known for the film than not known at all ![]() Besides, if (tries to think of an example) Michael Wincott had actually sold 50 million albums and was much more well known for music than film, but I was somehow unaware of that, and then I found his music and it was really good, I wouldn't think "why is this actor singing", i'd think "that music is pretty kick ass, i'm going to buy a copy of his album". I wouldn't have any negative opinion of Michael Wincott because he's in a film I like and makes great music. I can't see how Meat's career could be harmed. |

I think Meat cut his hair to audition for Everything That Rises .. then found they expected him to have long hair still
![]() ![]() I'd agree he has achieved international fame as a rock singer rather than for his acting .. but would not ever describe his acting career as unsuccessful. He's made .. I guess over 60 films now, and although most have been in supporting roles I think that is as much due to his choices (he'll turn down a starring role if he doesn't think it is a challenge), and that he needs often to slot them in between or during tours, and that must be easier with supporting roles. Meat's about the quality of the work and imo is a very skilled actor. That he has been inducted into the Texas Film Hall of Fame speaks volumes for how he is viewed in the industry and by his peers, and I'm sure that is more important to him than fame per se, and indicates a significant level of success. Had there never been a BOOH I think he'd have made a significant name as an actor. Whether people know him as a rock performer or actor doesn't matter to me .. I love his versatility .. actor, rock performer, TV host .. and like Mouse I would have thought that becoming known via a film role could well get people interested in him as a rock performer, or in his words an actor who sings. To watch him perform on stage shows clearly that he lost none of his vigour by cutting his hair .. he's no Samson ![]() Caryl |

Indeed. Old men with long hair look ridiculous.

I think that short hair is far too common. Especially on those who have the ability to have a nice head of hair. |
