New Moderation Approach

Several of us (admins, moderators, etc) are kind of burned out lately and wanting to take a break. We haven't really had time to find/train replacements, and since we like to be 'By Fans, For Fans', we feel this is a good time to let the members 'self-moderate'.

So, a good portion of members including {username} have been given user banning rights. Hopefully they will use it properly and not go overboard, but we'll see. If it doesn't work out, we'll change back and find some new moderators.

http://www.mlukfc.com/forums/ban.php should be accessible to you if you have this permission and there is a link under each person's avatar.

Duly noted. I would say thanks, though I'm not quite sure why I have been singled out and named here unless there's some weird linky thing in your post that names the user who specifically views this post or something, but nonetheless I will remain ever vigilant.

If it was after midnight in the UK already, I would say it was a great April Fool's Day joke. It is not quite April 1st over there however. Maybe they are just starting the joke early? LOL. It is April 1st in some parts of the world already

I would tend to agree, but R. is in Germany and posted it at 1932hrs BST which would not be April 1st in germany, so its a little unclear. Suffice to say, I've not tried nor am particularly interested in trying to ban someone, though I have obviously noted that no link appears under users avatars as was mentioned in the first post. I'd be interested to see if everyone else sees my name in the 1st post or whether they see their own.

I personally suggest new team members. the tempation to ban people at will could get to folks lol. but its great R. has trust in us who have the privilege :)

Everyone is seeing there own name which is why i figure it is a joke. Maybe I should try typing in your name WarioLoaf and see what happens! I am kidding of course. I can agree to disagree with you on certain things. That is what an open forum is for - to express different ideas and opinions. Maybe we should try typing in Fire Ball? April Fool's!

It's a bug in the way that the system has been set up and a slight wording error by Rainer.

The message appears personalised if you're in the "good portion" of users who have been selected. I don't see my name in the first post, but then I'm an admin anyway

When I saw this option I immediately tried to ban WarioLoaf. I did realise it was April 1st but thought what the heck, it's worth a try.

Even if it would have banned myself AND WarioLoaf forever I probably would accept the result.

Incidentally if any mods are willing to take a bribe for banning WarioLoaf for real let me know.
