Default Quick facebook warning.

Apparently there's a virus about (who'd have thunk it huh?)

My brother got a video e mail sent to him by a friend of mine via facebook.
As it was from a trusted source, he opened it and was hit with a virus.

Apparently this thing hooks on to your facebook and sends the e mail to all the people on your friends list.
In turn, your friends openthe e mail and it's sent to their friends.

Be extra cautions of vid e mails EVEN if they are from a trusted source.

I dunno who sends what to who but it's a fact that certain applications in Facebook do send you viruses, phishing and all that crap. I also got video from Rosie today that she didn't send and before that a trip to the phishing site from my cousin...luckily I open all this crap at work...

The solution is not to announce everywhere do not add this one or that one as a friend...the solution is do not add applications you don't absolutely need...go through all your applications and delete what you don't absolutely need...

same here.

Was quite obvious it's a virus though, it led to a page called youtube-something.com and said page wanted to download something called flash_update~~~~~

youd have to be quite thick to go for that

Keeping away from applications isn't a joke. The do NOT belong to the Facebook. Facebook integrates them and you can allow them through the Facebook and Facebook will not allow them if you tell them they create problems. BUT...we don't know for sure which application creates problem so you can't report it. I did report one which has sent "sexy hugs" from me to every frigging person on my friends list including people I know slightly...

I have deleted a lot of applications and will not accept requests from a lot of them either...just keep applications to the bare minimum and that should do it.

Facebook applications are no different from any other open source applications...

By the way...that new look of Facebook - that was not done to make it prettier...that was partly for security reasons...according to them this new facebook interface has more security features...

this particular virus most come from one of the more common applications. As it was sent to me, and I have only 2 or 3 of them on my facebook.

And I hated to rain on people's parade...I was accepting a lot of those I shouldn't have too. I thought maybe it will blow over. The problem, of course, is that we don't know which applications cause this kind of problem.

For those that are against facebook, I have to say that I am actually very happy in general that I joined. I now stay in touch with people I didn't before and know all their news. For me it became a priceless way of staying in touch with friends and relatives seeing how I am very anti-social and don't like the phones.

Facebook is no more dangerous than anything you might be doing on the internet...read address of the site you're on...if the address does not start with "https" (please note S at the end)...then it's not a secure site and you have as many chances to download crap to your computer with any other sites...

I can't tell - I am not an expert...we have better experts here but I would have assumed that it's Rosie's application that did it and not yours...
