my now exboyfriend's little sister had bebo and was travelling around oz, so i registered to keep in touch with her before I talked her into coming over to the dark side that is facebook...you can set greater privacy settings on your bebo account just as you can with facebook. i think even i'd have trouble finding me on bebo now, if indeed my account even still exists!

however, if i was in Meat's position here, i'd be a little put out that someone was deciding to collate personal information about me (regardless of how freely available it was) and put it on a website alleging to be me.

That is true I have an account , but I rarely go there now however there are options like everything else to restrict it to just friends and so privacy is as tight there as anywhere else it just takes a few moments to set it up. This is what makes this even more unbelievable, Meat I am more than certain would make it so that you are a member to at least access his page, not open for any Tom, Dick or Harry to see. Also can't see Meat on bebo it doesn't sit right with me. There is also someone there posing as Nikki Blonsky (Tracy from the movie Hairspray) and it just seems really sad to me that people feel the need to do that.

I get the impression that he IS his own worst critic, and i'm sure he himself has said that in the past (don't ask where, i've read, watched, and listened to a LOT of interviews and don't have them committed to memory).

This person has obviously not studied Meat enough and RJ I disagree, I think that anyone who is a fan of Meat will see this for what it is a pretender, a wannabe.

Not true at all.
People can have different habits on different forums.

On this forum I always have the smilie at the start of my posts.
Other places I don't.

On one forum I press enter twice and then full stop at the end of every post (makes a neater gap between post and sig) but I don't do it here.

Meat calls himself Meat Loaf on .net, but here he uses the name Fire Ball, so discounting something because it's signed "Meat Loaf" instead of just "M" is proof of nothing.

It is quite simple to fool most people as most people do not actually care who the bass player is, or the drummer, or the keyboard player etc.

We know how Kasim's name is spelt so we can spot the fraud, but there will be plenty of fans who don't even know who Kasim is.

There will be more fans who know the name but have never seen it written down before so don't know it's spelt incorrectly.

The more the fan knows the easier it is to spot the fraud, but there will be plenty of people who like Meat Loaf who don't know enough to know a fake.
Certainly not on that evidence.

I think his music is great, although i'm hardly an authority on him, but I bet I could go away, create a profile and tell you i'm Joe Cocker .
You'd probably leave me a message saying you loved that song from Officer & A Gentleman

It's scary how people can be allowed to do this, and there should be tougher laws to protect from this type of identity theft.

You have a very valid point there Neil, I agree.
And fraud like this needs to be clamped down on but sadly it seems to be very difficult to do that without any real or solid proof .

so?
does this mean he's not allowed to listen to his own music. Of 90% of his albums he said at least once that it's the best album (since) BOOH he's ever recorded, and in several interviews he says he listens to most of his albums once in a while (except DR).
That's nothing to do with being critic...

Well obviously not, if you look at the reactions.

I once knew this person that was convinced, she said she chatted with him daily, that she had was speaking with Sting, the american wrestler not the singer, she had it all planned they were going to meet, he was going to leave his wife etc...and on the day it was all meant to happen, he told her it was all a fraud...she fell for it hook, line and sinker and no one else could tell her otherwise.

My point is that if we really want to believe something we will believe it, no matter if the truth is staring at us.

As i'm in work I can't look at the bebo's, myspace etc of this world but to be honest if you think you're going to meet your hero as such on somewhere like facebook then it's going to be hard to convince you otherwise.

The majority of the time our "heroes" will have other people going onto their sites to post things for them, so will we ever know if we're dealing with the real deal?

Unfortunately there are a lot of pages like this on Bebo. There are people (I'm assuming from fan forums or something similar) who all pretend to be members of a band or actors from a TV show and then interact with each other in the same way that it is imagined those people really do.

Some of it is pretty convincing and it takes a good mixture of being a die-hard type fan and having some common sense (something a large percentage of people on Bebo seem to be lacking) to figure out that it isn't actually them.

Unless profiles are set to entirely private, absolutely anyone can view them, same as Myspace.

I'm the star of my own reality show...but this season I might actually let them start putting film in the cameras

Talking

I know for a fact Randy's myspace is real, in Orlando last year when I called him over for an autograph he looks at me and says;

"I know you ! Your one of my myspace friends !"

. Then CC mentioned something about myspace and I was like, 'Whoo I'm on a roll here !!' LOL But seriously that was cool because I think up till that point I hadn't messaged or commented Randy so that spoke absolute volumes.
