LOL, they call that lousy thing "steelbox"? I thought it would be something more valuable, like the wonderful dvd steelboxes.

Is it in a steel box? I've got the greatest hits in a metal box.

Well, with that track-list, it's not all "greatest" or all "hits", so it'll probably be plastic box spray-painted to look like steel

It's another Sony best of, although, I've spoken to the head of UK and he told me that there isn't a Meat Loaf one coming out.

RED Muze (who update all the websites album content) have listed it so I had a look into it.

If it is coming out, it certainly won't be £18.49 so I'd maybe hold off until I've got a good price sorted should it happen :)

Since his most greatest of hits came from Bat2 and afterwards, it seems kinda a bogus Greatest Hits CD to me. Funnily, Deadringer For Love which was his greatest hit pre-Bat2 isn't even on it...WTF?

He mentioned that it did indeed annoy him, a few years back in the 'Cash For Questions' bit of Q Magazine, and was quick to point out that 'The Very Best Of' (and possibly Hits Out Of Hell - I don't remember) were the only compilations endorsed by him. I think the interview was around CHSIB.

Oh, and lets not mince words, both the packaging and the tracklist for this suck ass.

Hits Out Of Hell wasn't endorsed by Meat. Durinhg the Bad Attitude tour it was released by Epicto cash in on Meat's publisity at the time. Epic managed to get displays promotoing the record in the venues Meat was playing and I remember seeing Meat's manager at the time ripping these displays down.

Wasn't the Hits Out Of Hell album released the same time as the video? because I remember reading Meat made all the video's for that in a couple of days, which to me doesn't sound like Meat was objecting too much to it.

They were released around the same time, but there was nothing new on the video that hadn't been seen before. Modern Girl (presumably licensed from Arista) was on the album but not the video release.

I mean it's kinda of a great idea a steel box collection, but I mean if your going to release something like that why not have a bunch more songs. I mean why not make it a box collection, and have demo's, live versions, & non-released songs.

Totally agree. Meat could do a Steel Box thingy with all the songs he's done and Steinman could do a Pandora's Box.

Steel box or none, it is pretty bizarre that after all these years we've yet to have a rarities compilation.

It's just a cheap knock out by sony so you're just going to get the normal stuff from the albums.

It's nothing to do with Meat what is and isn't released, they own the recording and that why they'll keep producing collections and best of's. I'm not even sure if Meat would get anything for them either.
