Default Weird things have you seen on Meat Loaf albums?

What weird things have you seen on Meat Loaf albums?

I have an original vinyl album of bat out of hell that has the words

"Pigs out of Hell"

Scribed into it right by the centre label?

I've got 2 copies of the Dead Ringer vinyl. One has the words "Reeks Of Classic Chicken On" and the other one just has "Reeks Of Classic Chicken" etched into the run-out grooves.

Diane, didn't Meat once say that he did this himself...the whole hotel smelled of take out fried chicken and he was scratching it into the album???

I believe Meat did say something a while ago about the studio smelling of fried chicken and that he etched the words onto the master disc himself. I'd often wondered why those words were there!

I can't find the actual quote...don't remember actually if saw it here or on .Net...I think it was actually on .net but I remember that they were eating fried chicken take outs non-stop on tour at the time and the whole hotel smelled of that chicken...and that's why he scratched it in...but it wasn't classic chicken...it was something else chicken...don't remember...

Yes, awhile back Meat said on ML.net, when someone asked about this.. that the studio they used to record BOOH in, that all the rooms smelled like fried chicken and BBQ ribs, from the take out resturant down the street. So, when he was bored in studio, he'd sit and scratch phrases like what you've said are on yours Diane, as well as things like "chicken out of hell", "fat out of hell" and "pigs out of hell", like Wenners has on his/her album.
I'd think these albums would be quite the collectors items, because how many of them, could there be.. ? I'd guess no more than a 100 or so. Wish I had one, is all I can say.

I'm not sure they're that uncommon Jeanie. Meat would have etched the words onto the master discs from which the copies are made so they would appear on all copies pressed from those masters. That's my understanding anyway.

Oh, ok.. I thought it was individual records he did this on, so in that case, I guess they'd be fairly common then.. darn!
It's just that I never heard many people ever say they had one of these.. guess maybe they just never noticed, Diane. :)

When I bought "Welcome to the Neighbourhood" it had a shop price sticker on it which read: Meat Loaf - "Escape from Hell"

One of my most unusual Meat albums has to be the cassette tape of "Dead Ringer" from Saudi Arabia.

Being from a predominently Muslim country the girls on the cover art have been fully clothed. The track listing is also in a completely different order. Even more strangely 2 tracks (1 at the end of side 1 and the other at the beginning of side 2) by Nazareth have been included, though they are completely uncredited!

I also picked up a cassette tape of "CHSIB" when I was in Oman a couple of years ago. I hadn't seen that album on cassette anywhere else so maybe that is quite unusual too.

Could you post a picture of that DR cover?

Are there any changes to the lyrics though???
I could imagine "making love to" may be a bit offensive in some religions??

"Then I saw you "BEEEEEEEP" my best friend. I didn't know whatever to say. I saw you "BEEEEEEEP" my best friend...."

However that could possibly make things worse !

There's no censorship of the lyrics. The visual image seems to be the only concern.

The cassette tape of CHSIB sounds like a very rare item, as well as this "mostly clothed" DR cover. Cool finds, Diane.

It is always the same. If they would do a fair interpretation of the coran the men had to wear also bodycloaking clothings.
But better not to start a religion discussion. Islamic (or is it muslim?) countries can be very resentful about such comments
