Long live capitalism eh Mr Lydon?

They had sod all to say, they said it very badly, and they didn't believe in what they said in the first place.

Think of awards such as the Grammys and even the Oscars- there are criticisms associated with those as well. Movie studios "campaign" to get their movies nominated and voted for. Even those stars on the Walk of Fame are basically bought these days.
I agree with you here. That's a reason why I believe Meat probably doesn't care about it too much. Yet knowing this, why does the general public have an outcry when someone they feel should be entered on merit isn't in the running? One could say the industry is straight and feel the artist's resume' doesn't meet their expectations, however Meat's tale of the tape vs. some other artist's that have already been inducted would squash that theory. So people either buy, campaign, sleep, steal, and sell their souls to get in because they wouldn't be able to get in any other way on their own merit.

It probably says enough about the RNR HOF, if the sex pistols were inducted and the likes of Meat Loaf hasn't been. The sex pistols did 1 studio album, I repeat 1 album.

Maybe Meat should do an album on which he insults both the president of the USA and the Queen of the Commonwealth at the same time. Maybe that will help? This could be a complete new direction for Patrick.

Yes, that's why I don't care that much about the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. At the end of the day you can compare it to one of those rankings you find in music magazines: The greatest singers, most influential bands, best albums... I once read a "100 best guitar players" list (in Rolling Stone, I think) and I thought "Where the hell is Slash? Where is Rory Gallagher? Where is Jan Akkerman?" I admire them (and many other artists) regardless of whether they appear on such lists or not. It's the same with the R&R HoF. It's the listeners who make someone a rock and roll legend, not being a member of an exlusive club.

How did he help evolve it? and is 'full recognition' just being inducted into the RnRHoF? that seems a bit lame to me

Are you saying he didn't help evolve the music industry or you just want my OPINION on how he did so? Lame as it is, outside of the Grammy what other awards are available to an artist in the Rock and Roll genre? OR what do you consider industry 'full recognition'? So I have a better understanding.

They have ask me for items , I have refused. It is the good old boys network. No Alice , no Kiss, no Moody Blues. Lots of people who have had major impact on Rock. When they put Jackson Brown in I said . It is crap . I've played concerts for them . Never again.
If they should ever put me in , I'm like the SEx pistols I would not go. They have asked me and Patti to sing at there show "lost that loving feeling" . I said no. They don't like me I don't like them. About 400 people vote on the final ballot. I think it's 12 people who make the ballot. It was a Bruce Springsteen idea to start it.

I'm asking for your opinion on how he evolved the music industry so I can better understand your reasoning.

You said 'full recognition' I don't consider one award in an half-assed Hall Of Fame as 'full recognition'. I don't think Meat needs 'full recognition' at all, having one of the biggest selling albums of all time should be recognition enough. Also don't forget that most of the industry turned down Bat Out Of Hell to begin with, Meat & Jim gave a big 'f*ck you' to them and proved them wrong. You're not really going to get any form of recognition from the very people you made look stupid for not backing you.

I'd much prefer to see Meat get recognition for his acting.

I have won a music award in every country that gives them since 78" You know what , the fact that almost 90% have loved "hang cool" is great.
WE are not through pushing it yet . But new one will be out March 2012. we are going to start to record some in march. Hoping for a big surprise at this Christmas . I'm working on it very hard.

I'm saying the HoF is half assed and the prestige others seem to find in it...is not my view. BUT there are people that believe the HoF is an absolute honor. I don't think that the HoF is full recognition. I think that Meat deserves full recognition and if that includes the HoF then so be it. What I'm not going to do, is be lead into posting my opinion of "why" then you picking it apart to death.

And I would be elated if Meat was recognized for his acting. In lieu of his music....no, I'm greedy, I would prefer to see him recognized for both.

He is. Many people think he was cool in movies like The Rocky Horror Picture Show or Fight Club. The problem is that many of his appearances are mini roles in movies that aren't well-known and you hardly get recognition for appearing in an Uwe Boll flick for about 5 minutes. Pelts is a great movie, for example, but targets a special audience. If he gets a good role in a very successful movie, more people will recognize and appreciate the actor Meat Loaf.

The only reason to go to the RARHFS , would be to do Bat and leave those people with their mouths hanging open because they do not know what I do. Let Patti and the Band Kick their ass. They would have never heard a better band !!
