Whoops, I'm falling behind again! :?
I hope cerysmeatloaf will come back and see your message. I'm sure she will. She's anxiously looking for a solution to the problem and I know others are, too! It's a shame the video has this problem.
I thank YOU for writing in. I love talking with you AND your mom!! Hope you get her avatar to work!!
Sin, more good news. Wait a minute. I didn't think that Woolies was carrying it--or was that just the single? Are we talking single or CD here. Let me know (sorry, I get confused easily  )
HMV stores have really been good to us, haven't they--AND their online site. I don't know what we would have done without it last week!!
Empty shelves!! I LOVE it!! Especially when they were full ones to begin with!! (Not like last week!!)

You don't even have to register. To get airtime Meat needs to be on their playlist. Let's do some work there too eh?

Hey, Jen! Even better! Up from #457 and #5.
That's good news!
Hi all,
Well, remember me saying that i went down to the local Radio station with a copy of CHSIBM for them to play, well, a DJ mate of mine later rang me up, mortified to know Meat had a single out. He said that he hadn't heard anything at all about it, and he'd only spoken to a bloke from Mercury earlier this afternoon. Apparently, so he thinks, Mercury aren't interested in publicising Meat's single, they want to concentrate on the Album, as they don't think the single will sell!!! Obviously not, if they aren't gonna promote it!!! Steve, the DJ, said he'll be speaking to his contact at Mercury tomorrow so he's gonna ask him whats going on, and then he'll let me know.
He also said they are doing work to the swansea sound website, so there's no way of asking for Meats song at the moment, unless we ring up. I do have steve's personal email, but i think he'd be miffed if i gave that out!!!
Just really pissed off at Mercury..how the hell can they expect Meat to get to number 1 if they arent willing toget a fair go???
Just thought i'd let you know what i found out.

Heat! You're amazing! You just solved the mystery I've been trying to figure out since Meat's last message to us all.
He said that "THEY" didn't think he could sell singles!! NOW we know it was Mercury who didn't think he could sell them.
Anybody got an email address or phone number for MERCURY??!! You know what list THEY are now on!!!!
Let's give 'em hell!!!!
If you email me the tel number Heat I'll ring in requests :) Thank the lord for onetel!!
Don't think it's a good idea to involve Mercury from here. Think about it! Think at least twice!!

I agree, Sin, but they still ARE his record company and we do want them to at least push the album. If we anger them too much, then, who knows...
But there has to be a way to just voice our complaints or voice our differences of opinion.
Yes???
Yeah - true.
But you all do not want to force this from a forum/thread where he asked explicitly for help!
Is it that difficult?
I don't see any problem with writing to Mercury and saying one is amazed that on trying to get one's local radio station to play the single one has been told that Mercury haven't supplied a copy and that they aren't pushing the it, as it's such a great song and such great value etc etc.
This is fact .. because we are being told this, and as fans we are surprised. No hate mail, just puzzlement and wondering why, and can't they get copies to the stations so that it gets on the playlist.
Seems fair to me
Caryl, i see what you mean.
But please - read the first ten posts in this thread.
Do you really want the company to read this? I bet not.

22 Apr 2003, 23:28
Hi! I just edited out that entire message. This is time to slow down and think carefully!
We are all hot under the collar because we just found out about it. But in reality, it's not news. Meat has known it and has been fighting it from the beginning.
Even if we take this info elsewhere--to other sites and lists, a campaign against Mercury will make them wonder about it. And since this site is listed on the album, they will come here! They will SEE Meat's request. They will see what we're doing here.
It's NOT good, friends! Let's relax. Let's take a deep breath and keep talking about it.
Okay?
I think you and I were posting at the same time R.
I know Meat asked for our help, but I don't see that expressing surprise and concern about not being able to get the single played because it hasn't been sent to radio stations will harm Meat .. in fact I can't see how Mercury could do more harm to the single than they've done so far, and they do seem to be wanting the album to sell.
And would he want to use them again? His next album he says will be BOOH3 .. and one would hope it wouldn't be too hard to find a company who wanted to handle that and promote it to the hilt.
But you all do not want to force this from a forum/thread where he asked explicitly for help!
R:
(okay, here goes yet another overuse of a song title......ARE YOU READY???)
I couldn't have said it better....
There is one thing to help out Meat, and there is another to start harrassment type of actions.
I take R's ;oint, I understand what he said, and have never advocated harrassment. But lobbying is I think fair, as is expressing puzzlement. And if the company decide to read the posts here they will see some very angry ones last week when the record was not available.

Hi, friends. I just changed my last post completely. Please take a moment to read it and then, let's go from here.
Okay?
Well just a update when calling into Cribbs Causeway in Bristol,
Virgin have sold out of the album and i couldn't find the single on the shelves, they actually recommended HMV who had 3 copies left on the shelf when i got there, the single only had 1 copy left on the shelf in HMV today.

I see what you mean R. we don't want it linked back to here or anything bordering on harrassment. I am just going to express my opinion once to each  If another single is released from the album hopefully it will have some more promotion before hand. Meat has been getting himself seen and the song sung on some tv and radio I wonder who got these slots for him? would have that been the record company?

Wow! This is tough, friends and we HAVE to get it right!! We cannot take a chance on hurting Meat!!
So, let's all take another deep breath and decide NOT to go to Mercury! Not to push our people, our friends and supporters there!
Instead it is a MUCH better idea to continue to do what we are doing here, but harder!! It is VITAL now that we help Meat sell as many singles as he can!!!!!!
Do you understand? It's taking me a long time to put this all together and I apologize for being slow and stupid right now.
The BEST way to get to Mercury is to PROVE THEM WRONG! WE know that Meat can sell ANYTHING!!! Let's work harder than ever to sell these singles!! That will show Mercury that they are totally WRONG!!
Yes? Are we agreed now. We must NOT hit Mercury as much as we all desperately want to. It will (could) come back and hurt Meat. And none of us here want that!!

PLEASE write in and let me know that you understand what I'm trying to say. Or share whatever other thoughts you have. This is TOO important to take a chance on messing up!!
Mercury is NOT the issue. The issue right here and right now is selling singles for Meat! It is the ONLY thing that matters and it is the ONLY way to get back at Mercury for their stupid policy!! We must prove them wrong!!

Hi all!!
just thought I'd check in with what info I have.
Unfortunately, the album didn't seem to be available in the large HMV at Meadowhall - BUT I could be wrong. It gets busy in there and they stock a LOT of albums. In the same shop there were 3 copies of the single on the shelf @ no. 31.
Better news is that in WHSmith's album chart, Meat Loaf was at no. 15, and there were no copies left on the shelf! Woo Hoo!!
As to getting the single airplay, I've been emailing radio stations but so far have had no response. I've also placed a message on the Yahoo Pool site, which would reach about 100 people in each room. I know its not much, but its something new to try, right....?
Has there been any response from Meat yet, regarding the chart positions, plans of action, etc?
Right, off to bed. Work tomorrow. D'oh!!
Yours

Hi everyone.
First of all my apologies in the delay in this post I promised. There was nothing I could do on Sunday, and after doing four shows in three days,I was just too tired to do anything with any thought yesterday.(I did post this before, but as soon as I pressed submit everything went haywire :? ).
There seems to be some misunderstanding on my post asking people to stop talking about meet and greets.
I was very excited when I first read Meat's post asking for help. And yes,not just for the thrill of being able to personaly respond to a plea for help from meat, but for the prospect of a M&G.I don't think there is anyone who's heart didn't beat a little faster on reading that  ,and had to read the post again because they thought their eyes must be lying too them 8O .
I didn't mind people talking about M&Gs at first,in fact you might notice that I was one of the first (if not THE first) to mention it.
Later on though, there were some posts that I thought were very blunt. They were basically saying I've bought five copies WHERE IS MY MEET AND GREET.If you take the time to read back you might see what I mean.I thought this was rather tactless. Now I am not saying that this was in any way intentional.I know everybody must be quite rightly very excited (hell, who isn't),but although it was Meat himself who mentioned meet and greets,I did not want him to read any of these posts and think that was all we were interested in.That would be a travesty against everyone who has worked so hard with the sole intention of getting him a decent chart position in a disasterous situation.
I agree that money has nothing to do with this what so ever.Of course we don't have bottomless pockets (which is something I keep telling my bank manager, but he never listens ). I bought seven copies, some people bought more some people bought less, but that is not important. What is important is the hard work, dedication and team work displayed by the people here :D .
That is why I asked EVERYBODY to stop talking about M&Gs.Meat has promised M&Gs and everyone is ENTITLED to one,but having people jumping in saying bought copies now how do I get my M&G befoe disapearing never to be seen again, was bringing down the work of people who have worked damn long and hard to try and make this work.
You'll never know how close I came to turning down a M&G,because it would break my heart for Meat to think that that is the only reason I was helping  .You don't need to take my word for this, you can ask any of the other moderators, who I contacted over this dilema. They have been very suportful, for which I am very grateful. If a M&G is offered (and I don't believe Meat will go back on what he has said),then I will accept it with many thanks as a dream come true.If Meat is too busy, then I,like most (if not all) will be disapointed :( ,but still proud that I was able to help.
I hope that this explains what was meant in my earlier post.If anybody feels the need to respond to what is written here,or has any questions please feel free to contact me by PM.There are more importaint things to discuss on the forums.
Everybody has done great this work this week.We have been lucky enough for some of our friends from abroad helping us in any way they can.To everybody both at home and abroad, well done.
Meat must be very proud the way his fans have teamed up to give this single the boost it needed and deserved.Meat Loaf fans trulely are the best in the world 8) .
Best regards.
Neil
(F.M.)
Has it been decided that emailing/phoning Mercury is not a good idea?
We do not need to harrass them. In fact, only one person (heat?) needs to ask them what the situation is, and why they're not pushing the single (if that is true). A campaign is another issue entirely. But perhaps if it can be shown that the single DOES have a realistic chance of doing well in the charts, maybe Mercury will change their minds (if the hypothesis that they don't think its worth pushing is correct).
While all this is going on, I'm more worried about the situation in New Zealand. I called Universal (who are distributing the album here) on the phone. They seemed very happy to help me, and said the album is likely to be released on May 8, but they know nothing about the single. The way things are going here, I'm not sure if it will make the charts at all.

23 Apr 2003, 01:16
Ah, F.M.--beautifully stated!! Thanks for saying it! I'm so glad you changed your mind! :D
You know how I feel about you. And much love to Carol!
And Mike--welcome back! Number 15 on the WHSmith album chart already!! Great!! I wonder how often that is updated. Anyone know? Please keep checking on that for us and keep us informed. Okay?
Was WHSmith also selling the single, Mike, or just the album? Wonder if they have a chart for singles, as well??
Let's hope the HMV you went to was sold out as some of them have been.
Gotta get those 3 singles sold, though! Any in the Meadowhall area, go to the HMV and get them OFF those shelves!! Right, guys!! :P
I thought your Yahoo idea was excellent! And it's one that has NOT been proposed here yet. So, good job! And a good idea!!
Meat's busy right now getting ready for the promo concert in Amsterdam tomorrow. There are a LOT of happy ML fans there now!! Wish I could be there, too. Don't you?!
Hey, Mike, thanks for the good word today! And keep checking in with us, will ya?!!
I'm glad I went looking for Mercury because I wrote to the organisation which listed them, Soundgenerator.com, who have said they will review the single on their site if they can have a copy :)

Amazing news, dear friends!!
Look what was spotted in the General forum a few moments ago:
From meatloafisgod:
... Top of The Pops features Meat Loaf singing Couldn't Have Said it Better this Friday night, 7.30 BBC1, it is repeated a couple of days later - need to check that one!
I can confirm this as BBC Ceefax have a page for TOTP where they put this weeks guests on and what song they are performing. Robbie Williams is also performing and I think Blur as well.

Okay, guys! Who's giving the first BIG CHEER!!!!!!
HE GOT THERE!!!!!
ps. But PLEASE don't stop buying the albums and singles!!!!
We're still concerned about the charts on Sunday, remember!!!
Let's get this man and this song AND this album to Number ONE, where they belong!!
And TOTP is going to help with that!! :p
Way to go, FireBall!!
We couldn't be happier for you!!!!

Things certainly seem to be heading in the right direction. I know that in one of his messages Meat mentioned that he was hoping that his taped appearance would qualify to be on Top of the Pops, rather than just TOTP2, and it seems that goal has been met! If it was important enough for him to mention, it must be a big step in moving the single and CD.
I'm continuing to email, am I right that that is our main course of action at the moment, considering the stack of singles and the CD that should arrive here anyday I fear I can't purchase any more soon.
I'll be in a horrid meeting for work all day Wednesday, so I probably won't get back here 'til Thursday- ack, what will I do without my daily dose?

Sherrie!! Hi! Don't get too many nighttime visitors here (well, night time in California! ) How are you? How's your 6-year-old doing?
YES, this is one of the things Meat wanted for this week. I am so happy for him! Getting National exposure should do wonders for sales of both the single and the album, I would imagine!
But we're still trying to move him up the charts this week, Sherrie. So, yes, keep on emailing and requesting that radio and TV stations play the song! Airplay is everything!!
We'll miss you tomorrow, but have a good meeting and let us know if you get any good responses back from all those emails you've been sending! Okay?
Love to you and yours! See you Thursday!!
I think Sherrie buying several singles was just asked of those who could find them as a temporary measure when the CD was difficult for people to get hold of generally. And yes, now it has come into the shops what we are trying to do is get airtime for the single so that more people will buy it, because when they hear it they will! :)
Caryl
Btw TOTP2 is a retrospective from the archives, so it was always TOTP that Meat needed to be on to get the new CD played. But perhaps in 5 years they'll be showing CHSIB as the Number 1 from April/May 2003 :)))
Caryl
Has anyone had replies to their emails to the radio stations? What have they said?
I see Caryl offered to send in one or two cds, but I'm not in the financial position to do that, so I can't reply to any requests by radio stations to do so.

23 Apr 2003, 04:48
Hi, Shane!
I've mostly been getting form type letters back, which make me fear they aren't reading my emails. I hate standard form letters. Don't you? :x
Don't worry about not being able to ship singles elsewhere. Others, who can afford to do that, should pick up the slack and take care of it. If you receive any requests like that, then post them here, so someone else will send the copy on. Okay?
The important thing is to keep requesting the song! Some stations will listen. Others will give you an excuse. But there will be times when the song actually gets played because of it--hopefully, more and more as the week goes on. :D
We all are doing what we can do to help. Meat would never ask us to do more! And I think for a lot of us here, WE would never do anything less!
Thanks, Shane. Let us know if you get any interesting responses. Okay?
And keep fighting to get those singles into N.Z.!!!!
You take care!
I've sent off 3 to radio stations, and one wil be going off to the internet company who've promised to review it. They're from my stock of last week :)
Have you had requests Shane? If they're from the UK email me. They might as well go to a useful cause.
I've not had any requests yet, but if I do, I will email you Caryl or post them here.
Are we concentrating on the UK at the moment? I thought about trying newspapers/radio in NZ too, but I don't know yet if the single will be available here (the album will though).

Good Wednesday morning, everyone! Hope you all are well and ready to do some good work today. Well....almost, that is. Think I need an extra large cup of coffee to get me going...
It's about 3 a.m. in California, 11 in the UK. I'm getting a slow start here. But I'm sure I'll make up for it as the time goes on...
Yeah, JM and Sin, when I created the 'call to arms' on Page 3 or 4 of this thread, I suggested at that time starting a new thread, but everyone just kept talking here, and so, here we are...
That wouldn't have really made a difference, though, considering what's happened since then. I thought we'd just be going for the first week or so, from Meat's first messages. Now, we're going for two...But the good news is that with Meat on the TOTP this coming Friday, and the National exposure he'll get there, our 'job' here will probably be completed after the Chart show on Sunday. Unless, of course, Meat asks us for more help. But in all likelihood, that's not going to happen--at least, not for this.
My only suggestion is that we might ask R. if there was a way to split this thread into two, which would make it more manageable for everyone. But I'm not sure if R is around today or if he's at the Amsterdam concert.
If you are around, R, and you see this, is it possible to do? Let us know.
Good to see you, Cerysmeatloaf. I was hoping you'd come by again to see the message left to you about the video. I hope that works for you!
Good news about the radio DJ. As the day goes on, if you're able to get the CD to him, please keep us up on what's happening there. You're doing a great job. I know you're new to all this.
Thanks for giving my day a bright start...
Well, guys, I'm going to go get that coffee and get to work emailing. But I'll be around, as always, if anyone wants to talk or share the news of what they've been doing...
Just a few more days, friends. I just keep thinking of all those lucky folks in Amsterdam today!! Wish we all could be there, enjoying Meat and the band.
Well, instead, we'll keep up the good fight here on his behalf!!
Take care. Talk with ya later....

Hi! Did you preorder it locally or from a place like Amazon UK? I don't blame you for being upset. It's hard, from here, too, to wait any longer for the CHSIB album. Did they give you a timeframe of when it WOULD be shipped??

Haven't been to that website, so I'm not familiar with it.
Is there any way you can write to someone there? Is there a 'Contact us' link or something like that?
Or you could always cancel that order, if it hasn't been shipped and buy the CD locally, now that it's been released... Just a thought.

Our concentration this week is on airplay and getting the word out about CHSIB. So, start emailing and/or phoning radio and TV stations, in your area and around your country and start requesting that they play it.
And if they won't, find out why and see if that can't be resolved..
That's my best suggestion for now. Lots of links around to help you with contacts.... :D

You're in Sheffield, right? Have you contacted anyone at Hallam FM yet regarding airplay? What was the response? I'm in Rotherham, and we have that station on all day at work, but I haven't heard the song as yet.
Anyone got any ideas on sending the producer of TOTP a thank you letter as Meat suggested? Would it be an individual thing, a signed "petition" or aone letter on behlaf of everyone here?
Just something to think about...?
see ya' later

Hi Mike
Yes I'm in Sheffield and keep requesting it .. but haven;'t heard it yet .. despite having to listen to all the dross they keep pumping out (
Re the idea of a thank you card, I like it :)) We could get a card up on ROL tonight which people could sign if enough agree it's a good idea to go that way .. what do people think?

Hi Sin
I think perhaps we should do both! I agree a lot of individual thanks would be great.
Finally got to speak to Hallam FM re their playlist .. which Meat's not on. Quite an unpleasant little person who said if I wanted to hear the song so much why didn't I go out and buy it!! He wouldn't even play it if I took a cooy round there .. he said he'd play it only if Meat phoned him and asked him personally!!
So there you are Fireball .. the number's 0114 221 4444 .. sheesh!!!!

Hi! I'm SO sorry to hear what happened with the album for you! Sounds like a REALLY lame excuse. But at least, it gave you a good excuse to cancel and go get it right away in your local area.
The good news, if you missed it, is that Meat IS going to be on the TOTP this Friday!! This was something he very much wanted, so we can all be very happy for him. It gives the song/album National exposure and that's exactly what it needs!!
It's wonderful news, isn't it??!!!
cerysmeatloaf
23 Apr 2003, 16:56
oh wow grate its about time some one good went on totp lol and now every one is gona know that the single is out to buy cool
from cerysmeatloaf
I noticed MB said:
..... with Meat on the TOTP this coming Friday, and the National exposure he'll get there, our 'job' here will probably be completed after the Chart show on Sunday......
I'd dearly like to think so, but it depends on his chart ranking. TOTP IS a national tv show, and it's very good and important he's on it, but it will be a four minute burst which many people won't see
Many radio stations still don't have it on their playlist, so I'd hope some people would want to continue trying to get it airtime. I certainly will, because I'd love to see this go to No 1, and I'm not sure it will be this week.
Plus there's the issue that shops seem to be running out of supplies. Good news indeed if Mercury made sure the shops had large initial stocks when they were finally delivered .. although we don't know if they did. And if they didn't have faith in the single perhaps they only suggested a small stock initially? I have no idea how ordering works, but my guess is the company weren't suggesting to the buyers that they should expect a rush!
And non-availability will be an issue if for example TOTP encourages people to want to get the single, and it's not there when they go to buy it.
original sin
23 Apr 2003, 17:15
Caryl I totally agree airtime is what we have needed for the last 10 days!
Its got to be on playlists to get air time and I don't think we've crossed that hurdle yet!
I wonder if album sales will affect single sales? I know i've asked this before but I think it may do so. Many people may just buy the album.
I think the album is gonna storm in and stay....hopefuly followed up quickly with another single release  :??:  :??:
Does anyone have any ideas on the text alerts i mentioned through smash hits and TOTP?
Sorry can't help re text alerts :(
re the effect of the album on singles sales .. this could happen .. and with the right promotion it WOULDN'T .. ONLY the single has the video of the title track which should have clinched its success ..
Guess we need reviews/articles in magazines .. I asked the on-line company I'm sending the single to for review to emphasise that .. makes you feel like walking uo and down outside HMV wearing a sandwich board doesn't it?!!
How to get the word out that the single is special and should be seen as an essential addition to the album .. that's our next poser I guess ..
Will another single follow? Only Fireballs knows .. but for the company to release one this one has to be a real storming success .. remember the trouble he said he had before in getting a record comoany to release more than one single?

the cd is even harder to come by this week than last. went into places that had it last week just out of interest and it wasn't there. Most places only stock the top 20. smaller places even the top 10 just. All the publicising of the single is pointless i believe. As meet said they only made so many copies and 2/3 have been sold. Don't know where the rest are but they sure aren't in belfast. We need to focus on the album now more so than the single. Im not saying give up totally on the single but Meat himself said it wont go any higher in the charts!
ChrisBelfast
23 Apr 2003, 18:39
Also, Belfast radio is giving the song ALOT of air play. Perhaps 4/5 times a day on one station. Thats A-List material. However, at the price os singles and albums now, if it was me personally and i heard the song, rather than buy the single at 4 pounds i would put an extra five pounds to it and go get the album instead. Also the single was released too close to that of the album so i believe everyone is going to buy album and only die hard fans will buy single. We have helped fireball get it into the charts and onto TOTP so perhaps the album is our main proirity and making sure the single is on every radio station. If you heard a really good song on the radio and knew you could get the whole album for a few pounds more what would you do?
I still think people can be wooed into buying the single if they know that the Video for CHSIB, the album's title track, is only on the single. And the prices are such that the two together come to less than many albums these days .. £13 for the two? A bargain compared to many today
Meat believes the single could be a hit like Anything For Love .. and if he does, so do I. And if he wants me to try to get it there .. I'll do my damndest

Hi meatloafisgod, I don't think it's about saving money. Meat asked us to buy lots of singles and that's what we did :) I managed to find 3 kept one for myself gave others to my 2 sisters for Easter they were very pleased  If I could have found any more in the shops I would have bought another 3. Off to buy the album tomorrow

Just rembered, I saw an advert on Tv yesterday for the album. It showed a long(ish) clip of the video for CHSIB and gave all the usual "Meat Loaf is back....album out now" etc. There was also a message regarding the tour in November. OK, so it was only daytime ITV, but its shows the record company is trying to push the album. TV airtime is expensive. If they'd only push for a slot in between Cornoation Street, or something, then it would really get some exposure.
I'm sorry, but the attitude of the guy at Hallam FM stinks! I, for one will be boycotting that station in the future. Not only for their ill conceived notions of not playing Meat Loaf, nor for the brush off Caryl B apparently had (although these are a factor), but also for the tripe they play constantly. I swear, they've only got 10 CDs which they repeat over and over again all day!
Just something to note about Hallam FM. They aren't playing Meats song, right? But when Meat performs in Sheffield in November, he'll be playing at the Hallam FM arena!! Left hand and right hand...eh?

Caryol, im not saying the song shouldnt be a hit! what im saying is its now to late to make the song a hit. I think CHSIB was the greatest Meat single by far since anything for Love and it should have went in the charts at number one - but it didnt. Meat said there are only so many copies left and that the single will not go any higher. Obvoiusly we want to sell whats left but its a matter of finding them first. If the possibility of hearing a new song (Unsaid) did not make people go for the single then a video of CHSIB won't. Our only hope is after hearing the album, the people are dying for more meat loaf and buy the single to hear 'unsaid'. Again, if they can find a copy.
ChrisBelfast
23 Apr 2003, 19:28
Also as you said, Meat wanted the song to be a hit and you will do your best. So did I. But now even Meat has said its too late for the single - they arent there to buy??!! I am so saddened by not CHSIB chart position but by Mercury only printing a few thousand of them. It can take up to 100,000 copies of a song sold for it 2 become number one!! Meat sold 3,000 odd and became number 31 - thats good! If you talk everyone into buying the single then what will happen when the few remaining copies run out? People will be disapointed. Im not telling you what to do but after buying 10 copies of the single, 1 german album and 4 UK albums, its the album im now concentrating on promoting. Your ideas are brilliant, and if we can get the single on every radio playlist then the albums sales will rocket!! Im just afraid that the single is basically distinct now because of the soo few little made!!?? Mercury were mad!!!!!!

thanks for posting that originalsin, we now must get Meat up to number one in the album charts. Once people see this position when shopping for a CD they might chose it - their attude will be "Number 2 in the charts that must be good" only we must now get it to number one. I can guess who is number 1 - madonna. I have yet to read a good review on that album. IN MY OTHER POSTS IM NOT SAYING THE SINGLE IS DEAD AND BURRIED WHAT I MEAN IS LETS CONCENTRATE ON THE ALBUM AND TO DO SO WE NEED EVERY RADIO STATION/ CD SHOP ETC TO HAVE A COPY. I emailed yesterday to my local entertainment paper begging them to review the album and i also sent them he newsletter i received telling me how Meat is playing a concert in my area. I asked them to do a feature on both. im waiting on a reply and if need be ill send them the cd in the post- after all i bought 5 copies anf want to do something useful with them!

Hi, dear friends! I'm so sorry to have disappeared on you. An unexpected family situation came up and it had to take precedence. And so, I was away from my computer for much of the day. And it looks as if it's going to keep me away for the next several days, at least. (Isn't it awful when Real Life gets in the way of things we'd rather be doing! :? )
Looking quickly through all the posts, it looks like it was a busy and productive day!! And the news that CHSIB album may be at #2 is incredible!! All the hard work you have been doing since Meat's first messages have certainly begun to pay off!
Since I'm not sure how many days I'll have to be away, and if this particular thread will be viable and active when I return, there are a couple of things I wanted to say to each of you. It's been a pretty exhausting day here. So, I'll try to keep it short (or at least, short for me. )
Many of you know that I'm fairly new here--posting, that is, but I've been lurking for a very long time. It's funny after reading messages from many of you over the months here, how one begins to feel as if they know you.
So, it was exciting to actually be speaking with many of you here. You feel like family. And I want to tell you all how very proud I am to have been working side-by-side with you.
You couldn't ask for a better bunch of excited, funny, creative, enthusiastic and certainly, dedicated people to be spending time with, working on a project that is near and dear to all our hearts. Although there have been some disagreements along the way, I can't think of a better example of teamwork and everything that that entails!!
I was thinking, earlier today, during a quiet time, that all of us are incredibly lucky to have Meat in our lives. But you know, after these past few days with you, I can honestly turn that around and say that Meat, too, is very lucky to have each and every one of you in HIS life, as well!! And I know he has to be very proud of you and all your efforts on his behalf!
You are very special people and it's been a great pleasure and privilege to be working with you on this project.
Well, let me end this now. I know we'll be seeing each other again in this forum and the others, and I look forward to a lot more juicy Meaty discussions with all of you.
It's been a long day here and the next few are likely to be even longer. Friends, if you have a few extra prayers to send in this direction during the next 3 or 4 days, they would be most welcomed and appreciated!!
All of you, keep up the amazing work you've been doing!
Much love to you all,
you each have a special place in my heart.
Hope to be back with you at the MLUKFC forum again soon.

MB So sorry to hear life has thrown you a curve, and like Heat I hope things work through for you and improve soon.
At the end of the live chat on BBC2 last week the "hostess" remarked what nice people Meat's fans are. She's right and so are you, but then this gracious, warm, generous, unpretentious and talented bear of a man deserves the very best!!
So let's keep MB in our thoughts, and get stuck in for another day. There's still good work to be done to help Meat and get CHSIB to the top!!
Meatloafisgod came up with the great idea of writing to local newspapers, and getting local teams together to lobby local radio stations to play it. It would be great to hear about areas of the UK where someone's got that covered .. he has Belfast in good hands! :))
Let's get writing to music magazines to get the album reviewed
And please keep sending info on availability or not of the album in stores. Meat's management company will take action to get supplies on the shelves if they know locations which are short/without them and I have promised to give them as comprehensive a picture as I can, but I do need your help. Thanks :)
Another day, another chance to promote CHSIB to the hilt. Sin's away hunting Nessie .. we can sic that on Mercury if she's successful .. lol .. let's amaze her with our success on her return!!
For those who want to thank the producer of TOTP as Meat asked
His name is Chris Cowey. If they have an email address they're not letting on, but suggest people use the contact point on the website:
http://www.bbc.co.uk/feedback/
and mark for attn of Chris Cowey.
We will also be putting a card on our site tonight and hope you'll come and send a message/sign it. :)

Good work Heat! Way to get the goods "straight from the horse's mouth"! Maybe with increased airplay Mercury will decide to press more singles. (We can only hope!)
Odd that this album has "Mercury Blues"- I'm sure Meat really is "crazy 'bout a Mercury" after the limited run on the single.
Sherrie
Great news .. and I sense one of Meat's size 10 and a halves and his management company's hand here .. for they were on the case yesterday!! .. however, what a shame if Mercury's lack of faith and small production run does mean that the single will go no higher (
Might someone get off their butt and press/distribute some more I wonder? .. or will the single finish up a collectible on eBay? I know which I'd prefer ...
Posters still available .. and let's lobby those music magazines for reat reviews!!

Just to let you know, the hard work does pay off. The local newspaper that I had sent info to on the new album and tour did a feature article on meat like I suggested. The focused more on the tour but it got half a page write up with a brief mention of the new album and a photgraph as well. !!! Success number one!!! Just need many more papers to do the same!! We need more people doing the same. The reason they didnt review the album is simply becuase they don't. The paper - newtownards Chronical only reviews singles and as they are supplied by Woolworths then that answers why the single never got a review!

Thanks JC, did as you suggested and wish I hadn't! This is terrible!
Anyone else seen it? Thoughts? Oh my God! I too shocked to think straight.
Mike
Ah well .. you win some , you lose some .. and mostly we've won! Three people who don't appreciate Meat .. there are thousands who do, so let's not get too shocked :)
On a happier note, our Thank You card for Mike Cowey, producer of TOTP is now ready for your messages and signatures on:

Also we have about 15 messages on the card for Mike Cowley .. it would be nice to get some more before 6pm tonight (12 noon US Eastern)
Cards for sending and Mike's card for signing on:

HE DID IT!!!!!!!
yes .. ole fireballs phoned in and took up the gauntlet that DJ at Hallam fm threw down!!!! And they played CHSIB ..
I just LOVE this man!! The awesome wrath of the Rock God is SO impressive eh? .. rolling
thats brilliant Caryl!
Isn't it just Bren!!
Now of course the trick is to phone Nick any weekday between 1pm and 4 pm and ask him to play CHSIB .. "What? It's not on your playlist? Do we have to get him to call you AGAIN??" .. :)))
Hallam fm .. 0114 268 1444
Love that idea Caryl! Would have loved to have seen his face when Meat actually phoned, wouldn't you?!
Oh boy .. would I ever :))
But .. Meat is still not on the playlist for BBC local radio .. however I have found the name of the bloke in London who makes these decisions. So .. let's do some polite and non-hostile lobbying ..
We're requesting our local station to play Meat Loaf's new song CHSIB, as performed on TOTP tonight, but it isn't on the playlist for local radio. This is arguably his best song since Anything For Love, and that was quite popular!! It's written by James Michael and Nikki Sixx .. is bang up to date and delivered impeccably, and is the title track from an album that's debuted at No 2 in the charts .. Meat appeals to people from 7 to 70 so he must fit their demographics .. so please, please will Andy add it to the playlist for BBC Local radio
You can email claier.jago@emap.com and mark it for the attention of Andy Roberts .. and perhaps include the url for Jen's e-card so he can see and hear just how good it is for himself :)
http://www.meatloaf-multimedia.com/CHSIB/ecard1.html
After all .. we can't expect Meat to phone in every station every day to get it played ..
Thanks to all who signed the card for Chris Cowley which was sent to him just before TOTP tonight.
Meat was on first and he, Patti and the band gave a great performance .. naturally :)) Great to see something of substance in the programme .. if they get much younger they'll be chucking embryos onto the stage!!
oops .. see I've muddled the name again .. but it DID go to the right one :)) .. It's been a tiring but exciting week or so :)

Rachel--whos co-workers are hooked on DIST & CHSIBM!!!!!!!!!!! WOO-HOOOOOOOOO
The word keeps spreading :))
A thought .. we could put A4 picture posters in pubs/clubs/offices and noticeboards/and how about in our cars?
I keep thinking of the thousands of people who will stream into Meat's concerts here in November, but who because they don't come to internet sites and don't hear it on the radio .. grrrrr  .. WOULD buy it now, but won't if they don't know about it
Email caryl@republic-of-loafdom.com for copies
I have a portrait poster, landscape, for putting in cars ..

Well we had 2 threads with R's agreement last week .. The CHSIB HELP WANTED thread and the sticky thread Help Meat Get to Number 1 in the UK ..
and the only reason I'm posting about things to do (and only these) on the new Froget thread is because I want as much coverage and as much help as possible, and have not heard yet whether we are gloing to close the original CHSIB HELP WANTED thread in favour of the new one Meat started.
So I believe I AM on topic .. just trying to ensure we reach people whichever of these threads they go to. And the Sticky thread is an agreed second thread anyway.

CarylB, don't think that R. has agreed with it, but maybe i'm wrong, but don't think so. Then, maybe you are on topic, but i could also post in both topics that you were offtopic, but i saved me a lot of time this way, and you know what i mean... so that was my goal!
But 2 topics is great... but still people are posting double. and that is not so good... we have a search function on this board. And Meat Loaf is a special member here.... so don't you ever, ever, ever compare yourself with him!!
The Butcher, Tim
Shut up you lot. 8)
In general I don't like crossposting or double topics at all.
In this particular case it's ok with me.
Now calm down, he's on #4. :))
R.
Thanks R :))
And I never compare myself to Meat .. he's much prettier :))
Allright, for now
I didn't know that. Sorry R.
The Butcher, Tim
Aye, Meat appears to be in at #4 Album Charts.
This isn't too bad, I know of another album that was released and the record company were not being that useful when it came to promoting. However, the artists believed it was worthy of promotion, so tried and tried, it took a while, but it's quite well known now. It didn't get as high as CHSIB, only got to #9 in the UK charts though...

Thank you, Amadiere!
This is only just the beginning, we can not let this get us down.
How can a single climb or even stay in the charts if it is not in all stores.
We just have to keep sending those emails and wait for the re-release Meat told us about. This isn't over yet!

Heartened by Meatloafisgod's success story with his local paper, I've written to the Sheffield Star, who it seems are co-sponsors of Meat's concerts at Hallam Arena in Shefflied :)
How about we all write to local papers, particularly those in locations where Meat's appearing in November?
Here's an index of on-line listings of newspapers:
http://www.holdthefrontpage.co.uk/papers/onlinedailyindex.shtml
Can we cover the key ones between us or are there some areas where he'll be appearing where we don't have a campaigner?
I've emailed editors/newsdesks of 50 local papers where their catchment area is within travelling distance of a concert venue. Because this campaign IS a story imo .. of real music and real people inspired by a rock legend
There's also letters pages .. anything which people might see and want to go out and buy the album seems to be useful .. but they are best sent by people in the area .. so could people write on-line or in the post to their local papers letters columns?
Just thought i'd let you know, i saw an advert for CHSIB album on itv at 8:10 this evening!!!

Fire Ball,
WHAT WENT ON???!!! IF you are Meat (and I will pretend you are) EVERYWHERE in Ashford, Kent kept telling me your new single CHSIB was sold out on the first day of release??? What happened???? Did your record company not print enough? It should have been number one, so not fair.
Take Care,
Samantha, xxx

You don't need to pretend Fireball is Meat .. he is :)
If you read back through the thread I think you can see what went on .. the company didn't send out more than just over 6500 records to the shops, and there was very limited play on the radio. The album came out a week later, and by then it was too late to do that much to correct the problems there had been with the single.
But we can all help Meat's album does well in the US, and when the next single is released here in November, be ready and promote it for all we're worth. Visit the CHSIB promo forum for information
I'm excited about the concert in a couple of days but a little depressed too. I just checked on ticketmaster because I haven't received my ticket yet. My seat is in a section to stage right but about 25 or 30 rows back and now I find there are tickets available in the centersection in row 15!!! For the same price. Sigh . . . I am sooooo bummed about that. Really deep sigh . . . 'sppose I'd feel better if my ticket was at least in hand but . . .
Lady B
How annoying is that Lady B!!!! I went to see Meatloaf in Plymouth and it was standing only. I was about ten rows from the stage but I am only 5' 1" and there were lots of 6' people in front of me. I didn't see much of him on stage but just being there was enough. Fantastic show. I just know you will enjoy it no matter where you are sitting. Have a wonderful time.
There's hope Plukie. I called Ticketmaster and they issued me a lost ticket voucher because of it that I have to pick up at the box office when I get there. So there's at least a guarantee of me getting in despite it.
Lady B ~ off to shower and head for dreamland. Reviews as soon as I can get my feet back on the ground. Promise.
Good on ya Lady B. Have a great time. 8)
