MBrevard thanks for your support I'm gona be lucky because mines on order but think of all those who will not be able to get a copy of the album
I am sickened by the way the market aims at the very young with all the trash they do (Kumars etc) Makes my blood boil  ) I'll be out on the rounds again on Tuesdayand will let you know whats what then

I also got a message from Amazon.co.uk when I woke up this AM that my copy of the CD has been "dispatched". (When we use the word dispatched in the US it usually relates to sending the police to the scene of a crime, so I thought that was an interesting was to say the CD was on it's way!) It should arrive by Friday, and the singles that I ordered should be here by Wednesday- this will be a Meat Loaf filled week for me! Woooo! :P I will certainly be doing my part in promoting the album here in the US- several friends are getting my extra copies of the single, and I'll be blaring the CD from my Saturn every day!

Way to go, Draven!! And if those that saw the poster and bought the single, show it to others, who knows HOW many people you will have encouraged to go get CHSIB, by the time they're through!!!

Just got a message back from the guy on the mailing list who said he saw Meat on Sky Sports. I hope he won't mind my reposting a little of his message. It was sent out in answer to my question to him.

Meat was on for about a half an hour or so. He talked about the single, the video, the upcoming album with someone called Tim. Those of you who get Sky Sports will understand all this more than I do, I'm sure. They showed a clip of the video.

Meat said the single was out NOW and everyone should go and buy it. This Tim said that most of their viewers were going to go out to football matches. Meat said they should buy the single AFTER the match.

Then, in usual fashion, Meat took over the interview. That's our Meaty, isn't it?

As to why he was there to begin with: Okay, guys. You are REALLY giong to understand THIS more than me: He supports Hartlepool. (I know that's a football club, but the person writing this 'review' couldn't figure out why he was supporting them. Is there any reason why he shouldn't?? )

The review went on to say that Meat knows or has met the manager, Mike Newell. I guess they phoned him and got him out of bed. According to the report, and this is a quote: "Meat shouted and harangued him to get up and get the team prepared."

They asked Meat why he supported this team. But he never answered. Sounds like it was a chaotic interview.

And then, he had to leave, saying that he was off to record something for Radio 4. He didn't say what.

Have any of you heard anything about this?? Guess we'll have to start listening to Radio 4, as well. If you hear anything, post and let us know. Okay?

That was the report I got back from the guy on the mailing list, this morning....Meat is everywhere pushing this single/album. I love it!!

Go, Meat, go!!!

Just got back from ordering more singles on hmv.co.uk and noticed Meat's album CHSIB is listed on the main page right below Madonna's new CD! How great is that? I didn't notice it before today, maybe all this hard work is paying off!

I'm so impressed with everyone's dedication and willingness to help the cause. You should all be proud.

Hi, Sherrie! Welcome back! Uh oh! Now, I'm worried. I did NOT get a message from Amazon this morning!! I'd better go and check up on this! I put it in a LONG time ago.

Thanks for the correction, Caryl. Do you know someone in Somerset who can tell you what happens? Or perhaps even tape it for you??

Hi, Dottie! May I ask how large an area you have covered that does NOT have the single yet (and isn't expecting many in)? I'm just curious. Also, is Woolworth's a large supplier of music CDs in your country? Most of the Woolworths, if not all, have closed in our area of the US. We used to have several. But I can't remember them carrying much music to sell...Been a long time since I've been in one, though.

Hi, Jules! Just PM'd you. Hope you got it. Was that the album on the website or the single that was on the front page??

Well, I'd better go check on my Amazon order. I have a sinking feeling something's gone wrong!

Be back in a few. Keep it coming, friends!!

GOT MY 5 COPIES!
Checked out the stores in Ipswich (east suffolk) this morning. HMV had it prominently displayed, at eye-level, where you could possibly miss it. AND there was at least 30 copies on display. The young lad / sales assistant, when I purchased the single was enthusing mightly over it. Said he'd heard it for the first time this morning, and it was great. He said that "although Meat is older now, his music doesn't age". We're onto a winner here, when the sales assistants love the single.
Virgin , you had to know what you were looking for to find it. It was displayed at ankle height (therefore a lot of the cases were scratched or cracked). There is a price variation from HMV; HMV - £3.99, Virgin - £2.99. on a good note, they were playing the single and promoting it in store, saying that the single was available, the album was out on monday, and Meat would be signing copies in a Virgin store in somewhere in London next friday (I think).
Andy's Records did not have the single, they said they were still waiting for deliveries.

Interesting note:
In the past when buying Meat Loaf CD's, Andy's Records always stock a large selection, so do HMV. But Virgin Records (from my experience) it's nigh-on impossible to find any Meat Loaf at all, except maybe BOOH occasionally.

Whaaaaaa!

I ordered the CD on March 7th. They do tell me that they have 1 in stock, but go on to say it will be shipping SOON!! Not NOW, but SOON!!

Well, as Ren and Stimpie would say, "HOW LONG IS THAT???!!!"

Expected Delivery Date: April 28 - April 30. Doesn't that sound like a LONG time off??!!! Be still, my heart! Can you tell, patience is NOT my long suit!!

Ah well, great to come back here and read your report, Bren! Nice to have you with us!

That IS interesting about Virgin and Andy's. Sounds like Meat really had delivery problems all through the country!!!! I didn't realize that about Virgin, though--that they normally don't carry Meat. They certainly have been one of the larger (and available) sources for people this time. Is that a sign, do you think, that they, too, have good feelings about CHSIB?? We can hope... Heaven knows, WE all know where it's heading!!!!

The Official club has Meat signing CDs on April 25th at the Oxford Virgin Megastore. I think the time was 6 p.m. Do you think THAT's why their stores are pushing it? Nah, I'd like to believe the other... :D

Thanks, Jules! This is getting REALLY exciting, isn't it??!! I'm SO happy for Meat!! He deserves this kind of success again!! This is going to be an amazing year for him--yeah, and US, too!!! :P So happy to be here with all of you!!

MBrevard Woolies is a large store group seems to be in most towns big or small but the majority wont stock a particular album/single on shelf until its already proved itself - which to me is stupid - Because how can you buy a single/album if you have to keep ordering it - it puts some people off - I've covered Richmond, Kingston, Teddington and Hounslow am going back out there Tuesday to check on album - MVC dont stock singles at all so they tell me  Get back to you as soon as I can

But Hartlepool are top of Division 3 and are doing pretty well. I support Boro who are in the same region as Hartlepool. But as it stands Boro are a better team then hartlepool because Boro are 9th in the premiership! :P

Dottiebat's post about MTV not stocking singles is interesting .. many people don't buy singles these days as they're usually expensive for what they are and are included in an album which doesn';t cost much more.

This is why it's important to stress to people that Meat's single had a song which is not included on the album (and despite some comments I've seen suggesting it's not up to snuff I think it's BEAUTIFUL and Meat's voice superb delivering it) and also has the CHSIB video which is not on the album and is a MUST!! .. and all this for an amazingly low price! For people in the UK delivered to your door for £4 from hmv .. what could be better or better value?

Hell the cost of buying both single and album are less than many albums sold in the UK these days !!

Hi everyone, I hate to admit it, but there are so many posts here. So, here I go. Can anyone tell me just when we can expect the new charts in the UK?

Feel like I haven't done this much today. Wish there was more I could have done. Just been sending emails to radiostations and everyone else I could think of.

But I feel very confident, this song WILL do great!

Jules, great news about the hmv-site and the album. Thank you!

So I gues I am getting a little impatient here. Meat, please if you know anything, let us know!

I've also noticed a price variation HMV charged me £2.99 and the local independant charged £3.99!
Great new that HMV have the ad. in a good position on there site, wonder if this has anything do do with the phonecalls they had. Earlier in the week I did suggest to their customer service that they might like to make a post on here, as I wasn't impressed with their treatment of the single and the man himself.

Oh Caryl, who is saying bad things about Unsaid?? I haven't heard negatives about it. I haven't got the single yet, as you know, but I've had an MP3 of it for quite a while and I think it's a beautiful song!! Sad, very sad, as are many on this album, but you're so right. Meat's voice is amazing! I'm sorry to hear that some folks don't like it!

You're also right! I haven't bought a single, myself, for more years than I care to think about. And if that is the common attitude now, then there has to be some kind of special incentive to get people to go out and buy this one!! Excellent point, Caryl!! Perhaps, on some of these posters which are being passed around, something needs to be added about the extra song and video???? What do you all think?

JM!! Hi! How are you? Thanks for coming back here. And a very BIG thank you for explaining about how your soccer leagues work. I'm a total dork when it comes to these things. Do you have the word "dork" in the UK?? Maybe it's an American expression. I don't know. But anyway, now it makes perfect sense why the reviewer was so surprised that Meat liked this club!!

Now, I wish he HAD explained why he supported them. I guess there was some confusion during the interview AFTER he was asked the 'Why' question, so he never got around to answering it.

So, how are you doing? Are you still checking your area for singles for us? The last time we heard from you, there weren't any around. I hope that's changed now, JM. I hope that changes for everyone! Right, Dottie!!!! Next week I hope that every store which wants to stock it, will have the copies it needs!!! Okay. Okay. I can DREAM, can't I?!! 8O

Dottie: That's a LARGE area you're talking about! Why in the world has this happened?? Who's the idiot (or idiots) behind this fiasco?? And there's Meat out 'busting his butt,' trying to make up for it! Us, too, huh?!!

Woolworth's used to be a huge chain in the US, too. I am assuming they are one and the same--with the same name, obviously. I can't speak for the rest of the country. It's been quite a while since I've been back east or to the midwest, where I grew up. There were always Woolworth stores around.

But I haven't seen or heard of them for such a long time--maybe they just moved out of the western section of the country and they still exist elsewhere in the US.

I do think it's a real stupid policy to only stock for 12 year olds, though. I mean, 12 year olds don't normally have a lot of disposable income, do they? Don't you think that stores would want to try to reach the age bracket that has the most free money to spend??

Have times changed so drastically, while I wasn't looking??!! Do 12 years old these days have a lot of money??!!

Crazy policies...Well, once CHSIB hits the Top Ten, either this week or next, EVERY store is going to want to carry it!!!

Hi, Mariella!!! Listen, you've been working really hard for all these days now. No one could ask more of you. So, don't worry about it. The phone calls and emails you're doing ARE making a difference. I know it!!

As for the charts, I honestly don't think we're going to hear anything this week. Especially since it's a holiday weekend. When we were busy watching the German charts to see how Meat was doing there, they would get their early sneak reports on Wednesday and the finals would come out on Friday. Now, I have no idea if the UK works their charts in the same way. But, since it's already late on a Saturday and we haven't heard anything and since tomorrow is Easter, it's very likely we won't be able to find out anything until sometime next week.

Unless, as you say, Meat comes along with some information....

In the meantime, we'll just continue to continue and do the best we can here.

Sin, I'm glad you're back. I wanted to ask everyone here what they want to do about tomorrow? I know that it's a family day, for the most part (at least, that's the way it works out over here). So, would it be good for all of us to take the day off for Easter, since many won't be able to come, anyway??

Or do you want to work a parttime day?? Please write in and tell us what you think or what would be best for you and your situation. I know that Meat would certainly understand because of the holiday. And if you all do want to take the day off, then, we'll start in bright and early on Monday.

So, please give it some thought and let's put our heads together and decide what's best. Okay?

Hi, guys! Just a real quick message.

Thanks to Caryl sending a message to the mailing list for this info:

You know that Meat said he was going to Radio 4. Well, he wasn't kidding.

If you all go to the BBC radio website, go to Radio 4 and find the program Loose Ends with Ned Sherrin (I hope I'm spelling that right). Go to that show's website. There'll you'll find a link to Listen Again to the program.

It's about 44 minutes long. Meat is only one of the guests at the Round Table. But from Caryl's description of it, it sounds like FUN!!

I'm off to try to record it. See you in about an hour--maybe more, since I have to go and fix my parents some lunch.

Please continue to share your thoughts about tomorrow. Okay? And thank you, Sin. I didn't know that Radio 1 would give the charts on Sunday. This is excellent news. Maybe Meat will have them early and post somewhere at the forum...

More later. Love and peace!!

The single is at #441 in Amazon UK sales rank.

Missed hearing the Scottish chart earlier today, it's usually pretty much the same as the UK chart.

Hi all,

The single has been on permenant repeat in my shop all day (13 hours!!) and has generated a lot of interest. I have sent a lot of people to the local shops to buy it!!!

I won't be in tomorrow as I have got to go to a family meal (daft sisiter, getting engaged when something like this is going on!!!!!!!) anyway, I will check the charts as soon as I get in and hope Meat is at the top!!! (anything above the bottom would be an improvement for a Hartlepool fan!)

Also i don't think any information about the charts are given out early. i remember seeing a show about them a bit since and they said that the first person outside the compiler to see the chart is the DJ at Radio 1 who recieves a faxed copy st the start fo the show!!

Every little helps....

Hi, Tuckaway! Since Flying Mouse doesn't seem to be here right now, and he's Law and Order for this forum, a couple days ago, he put a stop to posts dealing with the Meet and Greets, because it got to the point where it looked as though people were buying extra CDs JUST for the M&Gs. Most of us here are doing it because we love Meat. He's important to us for whatever reason that is and he doesn't ask a favor of us very often. It is a great pleasure and a privilege to be helping him in whatever way we are able.

And yet, he was generous enough to add 'incentives' to the offer, such as the backstage passes and M&Gs.

I can tell you that nothing specific has been said. However, there is an Amsterdam concert coming up on the 23rd and Meat has already arranged for an M&G for everyone attending that concert.

So, my guess is, that when it is closer to your UK concerts, he will do the same thing. He will set up with R. (or whoever) to collect a list of names of people who helped him through this crisis and they will be given passes.

But you have until November, I believe, before your concerts take place. So, it'll be a while. Meat is good to his word, though, Tuck. We all know that, so don't worry.

Sorry that you felt foolish buying more than one CD. You could have been buying them for friends or relatives, you know?!

Just look at it this way. Forgive me--I know it sounds sappy, but I don't know how else to say it: You did a good thing and helped a good man, who is important to you, to try to achieve his goals!! A good deed never goes totally unrewarded... :)

(and went on quite some more ......)

I think Tukaway posed an entirely reasonabe question. This was offered and it's reasonable to ask how it works. It's OK to say most of us are doing this because we love Meat, but I don't think he would ask people, some of whom may not have much money, to go out and buy extra records without saying what he did. And frankly a Loafdom dollar says none will turn down a Meet and Greet, and a few may whine if one is not forthcoming.

So if people come on and ask, I think it's reasonable to say there's a long time to November, nothing is yet known but Meat is always good to his word when it's possible, but not to imply that people who entered into this based on what he said are somehow less of a fan because they ask what the procedure is, or that they should think that it's a privilege to perhaps spend more than they could afford when all they've done is sign on and answer a call to arms which was quite specific, and indeed repeated.

Whoever is "in charge", if a thread starts with a request and an offer, whoever asks about that having done what was asked should not imo be "shushed", but given the best answer available at the time. I doubt many people will be expecting Meat to be handing out used untraceables, but if anyone did need that, then I'm sure he is gentleman enough to oblige them.

Sorry, but I think we need to not get too carried away with a concept that all have bottomless pockets. For some this will have been a sacrifice, done willingly and with love, but done in the spirit in which they were asked.

ok now maybe someone needs to start a different thread for info...
Being devils advocate  I can always agrue both sides of anything.
Yes an incentive was offered, maybe some one with relevant info could start a separate thread on this.
If Meat checks in he's gonna see what incredible work has been done by fans attempting to give some payback for years of enjoyment and pleasure.
Its not just cash thats being given up here its time and effort too I hope that no one does anything they cant afford to. There are different this that can be done not just buying, you've only gotta read back over he last few days. This has been a global help line...
Earlier in the thread JC was worried that he couldn't afford 5 singles but he posted loads of valuable info. I think everyone acknowledged this and thanked him.
I cannot envisage Meat making empty promises but at the moment he's gotta a lot on his plate. Arrangements have been made for the Holland fans and when he's figured it out he'll let the rest know.
If i could be bothered to page back i'd quote myself from earlier...summat like: happy to help, don't want my money back, anything else is a bonus, sure who's gonna turn down a M&G but I still think it should be a private party
I think Mouse didn't want this thread to loose its impetus by being bogged down in M&G which is probably why Meat started a separate one re. Holland.

All I said was that anyone who had responded to the initial request and asked about Meets was making a perfectly reasonable request. That has nothing to do with all the other effort that is now gojng into promoting the CD.

All I think they needed by way of a reply was four lines, not a long post about privileges and such.

And no I don't want a party which might be on a date I can't manage. I'm booked for concerts. That would do fine by me.

I agree Caryl!

Only the other day I was browsing through the forums and noticed Meats post about the Meet and Greets. I asked everyone if anything else had been said, as the prospect of meeting the big guy in person was really exciting for me!!

I couldn't believe it when my question was frowned upon by Law and Order!

I thought it was a reasonable question and I didn't think it made Meat's gesture "cheap". After all, it was Meat's idea and Meat's offer to us, so I think he would have expected his offer to spark excitement in his fans.

But there you have it.

Hi, Caryl and everyone! Sorry I'm late in responding. Been away from my computer.

Valid points, one and all, that you've made!!

Perhaps, since Flying Mouse considered this to be an off-topic subject the other day, this is something you all need to PM him with or maybe even R., the webmaster, and you can discuss your concerns with them. Both seem like very nice and reasonable people, who could respond to your comments.

The way I look at it is that this isn't my world. It's not of my creation, but someone else's. And it has certain rules and regulations set up for specific reasons.

If it were me and my world, I wouldn't mind discussing anything relating to Meat at any time!! I love to talk about him and his music and his films with anyone! It's one of my favorite passions, as everyone can tell!

So, maybe, if you have questions or problems with Flying Mouse's ruling the other day, or any of the other rules, then you need to talk with them about it--probably through a PM, since Flying Mouse, if he were here right now, would most likely tell us that WE'RE off-topic at the moment! (Can't you just hear him now!)

Great discussion, everyone. Keeps the blood boiling and the mind working--just what we need at this late hour!!

Back to my emailing. Talk with y'all later...

Does anybody else prefer "Did I Say That?" to "Couldn't Have Said It Better"?

Not that I don't LOVE "Couldn't Have Said It Better" and I think that it was a good move to release CHSIB on single in the UK instead of DIST. As I think it holds more appeal to the modern music market. But I personally think it's the superior song.

Interesting question.

I loved DIST the very first time I heard it. It actually gave me gooseflesh!!! And sometimes, still does, when I listen to it.

But I think--if it is the video, in part, which is helping to sell this first single in the UK, then CHSIB video is MUCH more powerful and attractive, shall we say, than the DIST video.

I love both songs, though. Hard to choose between them. Can't wait to hear what everyone else has to say.

Yours, Greavzyboy

Exactly :) I thought it was a reasonable question .....

Just as now I'm wondering if he'll be able to make the same offer to the fans, such as myself, who live in the United States and have also been very supportive. I won't be able to see him until he's somewhere on the East Coast (August / September perhaps) but I would just like the opportunity to congratulate him in person :)

By the way, just a quick question...

What does everyone else think?

Yours, Greavzyboy

Yes. I LOVE both songs ... they're amazing and perfect in their own ways :) But if I have to make a choice (a very tough one I might add), it would be Did I Say That. It just seems more emotional, if you know what I mean.

Hi, Vicki!! How's it going? It IS a tough choice between those two songs. I've been thinking and thinking about it since Greavzyboy brought it up. And I'm still not sure which way I'd go.

You know, I haven't heard yet as to how CHSIB (the single--not the album) is doing in Germany this week, have you? It will be interesting to compare how CHSIB does its first week, with how DIST did in its premiere. If any of you finds out anything, please post it. I'd love to know.

Hi, Mouse! So sorry to add more to your already-busy life. I hope your singing and sharing CHSIB with the customers went well for you.

Thanks for checking in on us and taking the time to write, even though you're so tired!

The life of a newbie is never easy, is it?! I think the other day you just spoke so firmly--that plus the "Law and Order" under your avatar --made several of us, who are new here, believe in your authority. (That must come from all the years of doing Meat tributes. Never underestimate the power of Meat! :p )

Perhaps, when you are able to respond more fully, you'll explain to all of us newbies, exactly what the Law and Order means. I'm probably not the only one who's confused about it!!

Thanks, FM. Hope you and Carol have a wonderful Easter and don't work too hard--except while you're singing, of course. If you're singing some Meat songs, you've gotta work HARD!!! :P

Let me take this moment to wish all of you and your families a very Happy and Joyous Easter, if you celebrate the holiday.

Those who can spare the time on Sunday, come on by and continue the work on Meat's behalf. We'll be here for much of the day and look forward to seeing you then.

A big thank you to Jen who earlier in the day posted the times for the Official Chart Show, which is on Radio 1 from 4 to 7 UK time.

Certainly, since Meat's posting several days ago, "this is the moment we've been waiting for. " Let's hope for good news, for Meat's sake!!

And once again a reminder to those of you who might just be joining us for the first time. Although most stores will be closed on Easter, the online music shops are still open for business. :D If you'd like to order either a copy of the CHSIB single, with a bonus song not on the album AND the included video, OR you want to order the album, itself, which will be released on Monday, this is a good, reliable site: http://www.hmv.co.uk

Thanks, friends. Hope to see you all soon!!

Goodnight from California. Time for some much needed sleep here, too!!

Couple of points and then I'm off for the day.
My opinion on queries about Meat's offer was not directed at FM who I know is not a moderator, but at all/any who take the tack that such questions are in any way out of order. I think they are genuine and reasonable as was his request for help at the time.

It's right people should understand that it was a special thing for a couple of days and that now promoting the CD by requests to radio stations for playtime etc are what is needed. The original request was in despair at the non-availability of the CD in the shops, and was to counterbalance this. To continue would look like Meat had no faith in the ability of the CD to sell, and that neither was, nor is the case.

This will make a third .. I can count JCM :)) .. I was referring to the lines of explanation not my post when I said 3 lines

Good luck all today

GOOOOOOOD Sunday morning, Meaty fans!!

:bunny: And a very Happy Easter to those of you celebrating the holiday today! Hope your Easter eggs hunts were successful and fruitful. Do you do Egg Hunts in the UK? Or is that more an American tradition?? :bunny:

It's 12:30 California/8:30 in the UK. And this is the BIG day for us all--the day the UK Official Charts are released and I'm sure that will be the highlight of the day. We get to find out exactly how we've been doing these past few days, since Meat's urgent pleas for help!

Jen was kind enough to let us know yesterday that Radio 1 will broadcast the Charts from 4 to 7. An email I received overnight said 5 to 7, so it's sometime during that timeframe. Last night's email also indicated that the charts would be showing up at the same time on Radio 1's website, for those of you who may not be able to receive the audio feed for one reason or another.

So, I think it'll be a tense morning, as we await the news. But at least we'll be together here to continue the work on Meat's behalf and begin to work toward's NEXT week's charts.

If you read Meat's message from a couple days ago, he wrote that he was hoping, with all our help, to move CHSIB up the charts, so that he and the band could appear on Top of the Pops next week, which would certainly give another boost to, not only the single, but the album which is scheduled to be released TOMORROW!!!

So, he has set our next goal for us and we're off and running. If you can't stay with us today, but are only popping in to see what's happening, relax and have a good day with your families. Meat would certainly understand. Just join back up with us, when you can, as all your help is certainly still needed!

Since this is a holiday, stores are closed. But Radio and TV stations are not, so requests and talking about CHSIB to all of them you can get to, is certainly high on the list of to-do's. Meat, in his message, was very proud of the fact that, at the time, he was Number 1 on The Box. According to Greavzyboy here, all day yesterday, he was Number 3, with the video being played at least once an hour. I hope he'll keep us informed today as to how Meat is doing there. If you have digital TV, call up their Hotline, if you can, and help that along.

As you work, if you receive reactions, please come back and post them here. It's what keeps all of us going. It's also a great day to get the news about CHSIB out, as you're with your families and friends, who might not yet know about it. Some here have been playing the single loudly from their car radios, attracting attention of interested people in their towns. Some folks have been passing out printed materials to people on the street and getting new sales from them!!

It's a time for great creativity for everyone. Find a way (or ways) that will be good for you to help Meat and the new album.

Online stores are open, for those who wish to help out by actually purchasing the single and album. Amazon has FINALLY gotten its copies in and has begun sending out the album. The single is due to be received tomorrow, so I'm supposing they'll begin shipping those as soon as they can. The website, http://www.hmv.co.uk has been there for us from the beginning, continuing to renew stocks of the single, as they are sold....

So, there is lot to be done. And everyone's work in this is just as important as the next person's. Let us know what you're doing, when you can, throughout the day.

I'm off to begin my emailing for the day. Looking forward to being here with all of you, dear friends, as our countdown begins toward the Chart Release later this morning.

Talk with you later... 8)

Quick question everybody, just curious!

How come the single "CHSIB" on the HMV website and in all the adverts I've seen in the papers shows the cover with a red background and just the legs of the blonde girl, with the words "Couldn't Have Said It Better" across the cover?

My single is identical to the album cover but in red.

Does anybody even know what I'm going on about?!

Yours, Greavzyboy

20 Apr 2003, 12:07
Hi, Greavzyboy and JM!! Welcome! Nice to hear from you again!!

This is the first I've heard of the difference. I only know about the album, itself. It was released in Germany with the red cover. But for the UK, they wanted the background to be different and so the blue color was chosen.

I just checked the first single released in Germany for DIST and it had just the legs and a Red cover. Maybe the websites are using a older photo based on that basic look, thinking that the UK single release would be similar. Or maybe this is a photo from the German release. And the UK record company, once again, wanting the UK single to look different, went back to the original album design. Maybe someone who has the German release will stop by and describe it for us.

This is the only thing I can think of at the moment as to why the cover is different from what's being shown.

I don't know. Interesting...

How's Meat doing on The Box this morning?? Have you had the chance to check it out yet?

Are you both getting excited about the Chart release later this morning?? :?

Hi, JM! Well, you can tell where I've spent all MY life, can't you?!!

Dead giveaway, if you ask me!

I've gone the BBC radio 1 website. They're still listing last week's show.

I was a little upset because their "Playlist," the list they use to determine what is played on Radio 1 the following week, does NOT contain CHSIB in either their A, B or C listings. I don't know if they change that weekly, or daily--no schedule is given. Probably once a week. But it scared me to see that....

They have a message board there. You have to sign up for it, but you can post a topic or add to a topic. I started one on why CHSIB wasn't on the playlist. Don't know if anyone will respond to it. Everyone reading this could go there, when they have the chance, to keep talking about it--not necesarily on my post but on one of their own, if they wanted. The more we talk about the single/album, the more the radio stations will realize there are people out here who want to hear this song!!!!

That's all the news I have so far. I've just been sitting here and emailing away, as I can. Probably won't get much of a response today, though, because of the holiday.

Hope you're having a good one there, JM! Thanks for continuing to come by here when you can. Always good to hear from you!

Talk to you later.

From the Radio 1 website:

Singles Out Monday 14th April:
Blur - 'Out Of Time'
Goldfrapp - 'Train'
Lisa Maffia - 'All Over'
Madonna - 'American Life'
Plummet - 'Damaged'
Robbie Williams - 'Come Undone'
The Kills - 'Fried My Little Brains'
Yeah Yeah Yeahs - 'Date With The Night'

With singles by Blur, Madonna and Robbie Williams all being released on the day that CHSIB was released, it's going to be a tough chart this week IMO.

CHSIB is on the Radio 2 playlist in List C. The definition is:
"The playlist contains about 30 tracks which are divided into three levels: A list, which receive the most plays, about 20 each week; B list 10 plays and the C list around 5 plays."

Hi, Sue! Thanks for coming by this Easter morning! It's good to see you!

Thanks for clearing up the Playlist issue. I was looking at Radio 1 at the time and it wasn't there. I'll have to go to Radio 2 and see it. Thanks. I feel better now! :)

You know, I was just at Radio 1, myself, and when I saw "Madonna," my heart ached for Meat! I hadn't seen the rest of the list, though! It didn't get any better, did it?

What luck--or lack of it! Added, of course, to the other distribution problems earlier in the week...He's got a rough road ahead!!

What am I saying?? We ALL have a rough road ahead!! :?

But the album is SO great!! If sales of the album are good, and people find out that the single contains even more material, then, maybe it'll help the single's sale along...

What do you think??

jcmoorehead
20 Apr 2003, 14:49
The thing is they don't relise how good CHSIB actually is. They are only sticking to crappy repeatative pop music now because it sells. its aimed at the school kid market (But i've always been into Meat Loaf) but if they knew how good it is then it would be on more.

MBrevard
20 Apr 2003, 14:52
One more question, Sue, since you've had a lot more experience with all this than I have with Kasim.

Do you know what it takes to make it onto the Top of the Pops? What position do you have to be to qualify for it?

I asked that a day or so ago, but no one seemed to know.

I know we're going to get tired of this line after a while, but....

I couldn't have said it better myself, JM!!!

If there isn't a particular place in the charts to get onto TOTP, then why was Meat talking about moving the single up this week, so that they COULD get on it, I wonder???

Have you been listening to your radio at all today, JM? If so, have you heard CHSIB played yet?? Just curious...

SueW
20 Apr 2003, 16:02
Do you know what it takes to make it onto the Top of the Pops? What position do you have to be to qualify for it.

I stopped watching TOTP every week years ago (April 1999 I think when Kasim was last on it!) but the number one is always played. Other than that it is the new entries and songs that are moving up the charts. It didn't used to be new releases that aren't yet in the charts but that may have changed.

It must be a good sign that Meat Loaf has already [been allowed to] record TOTP. I think they are more likely to air a "live" performance rather than a video if they have a choice..... let's hope that Madonna and Robbie Williams only have videos to offer.

I'm sure we'll have more idea after the charts are announced this afternoon. You can hear it online at http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio1/ from 4.00pm to 7.00pm in London, 11.00am to 2.00pm in NYC and 8.00am to 11.00am in LA.

Hi! Back from breakfast for my folks.

Thanks, Sue, for the information. You're right that it sounds promising to have already taped the song for TOTP. Why would they waste the tape if they weren't somewhat sure it would be used??!!

And who wouldn't want to watch a live performance--the videos you can go to The Box, or whatever, request it and watch it any time. Is the show mostly videos or mostly live--or a pretty even mix? Just curious since I've never had the chance to see it. Do the people on there get interviewed or just perform?

I KNOW you'll be watching this time  ---Kasim just looks and sounds better every time I see him!!! So glad he's still with Meat and will be on the upcoming tour. Can't wait!

Thanks a lot, Sue!! Awfully glad you're here!

Mariella! HI!!! I'm SO happy to see you. You know, I miss you when you leave us for the day!! :) How are you? What have you been up to?

Just a passing thought. My kids get text alerts from music sites etc that they have signed up to. Anyone know if CHSIB is linked to any of these?
If not how can it be done? Its a way of targeting large numbers. I'm sick and tired of all this rubbbish about charts aiming for the 12yr old/teen market, and not including Meat Loaf in their likes. My kids are 12 & 17 both loving the music (no pressure on them at all  ) I know their friends like the music and know the lyrics to quite a few, whenever I'm waiting in the school car park kids recognise its Meat Loaf playing out .

So I am just waiting for the charts-show now.

The album is at no. 66 in the Dutch top 100, I believe, which is not bad at all, I think. Should climb much much higher, believe it will, after next weeks show!!! YES, YES, YES! :bunny:

The single will be released next tuesday (it says the 21th but I don't think all shops are open then). Already called Polydor in Holland to ask them if they thought there will be problems with the distibution, here in Holland.
because next tuesday I DO have to work...and wednesday I DO have a show to go to!!

And Sin! Thanks for being here, girl! Always a pleasure.

Here we have text messages via cellphone. Is this what you're talking about? Or is it some kind of email alert?

Sounds good, if there's a way to get the single associated with it. Find out more about it, if you can. And bring some of the websites' addresses where your kids get their alerts from. Maybe we can all figure out a way to do this thing!!

No specific plan right now, Sin, aside from what we've already been doing. I think we're all just in limbo until the charts are reported. Then, we'll have to all sit down and figure out the best plan of attack. For certain, it's gotta be airplay. People HAVE to hear the song to want to go and buy it.

I wonder if any more pubicity is being planned for the week. Let's see. Meat's in Amsterdam on the 23rd. The book signing on the 25th. Let's hope he can squeeze some more things in.

Sue, wasn't there a report that VH1 was going to spend an evening with him toward the end of the month, or something like that?? Have you heard about it?

Hey, Sin, that was nice to have your son send a message here yesterday!! Tell him hi from all of us! It's great that your kids are interested in what's going on with Meat!

Well, I'm going to get BBC1 on--it's early, but I guess I'm nervous. I'll still be around here, too, though, if you want to talk.

Hey, Mariella. Yes, you've been very bad about work lately  but that's been good for US!!!

66 out of 100--first week on. Not bad.

Meat was really smart to set up this concert in Amsterdam on the 23rd. It's certainly going to sell more albums, plus the single. I know people are coming from all over Europe to see him. So, it should be good for sales everywhere I would hope.

Then, after he finishes in the UK, he told me at the live chat that he'll be going to Switzerland and Norway and eventually, even Australia--and he said all of those before he mentioned the US. So I don't know if he's planning to do all that promotion BEFORE the world tour starts in June. Sounds like an incredible schedule, doesn't it?

You've gotta be SO excited, you lucky girl!! Not only the concert, but the Meet and Greet afterwards...do you live close to where the concert is taking place?

they register for mobile phone text alerts through things like smash hits and totp magazines. what i don't know is how an artist gets their single or album promoted through this service. Sin, I'm going to be thinking about this. Maybe someone will come along who knows more about this. Either that, or we'll find a way to get the idea to Meat or his people. It's a good one!!

It doesn't make a bit of sense and was a little cruel, I think. But only because my heart's so involved.

Patience....that's become my mantra right now, Mariella!

Hi, Rob! Great to see you again!!

How in the world did your brother get to see the list early? I thought that it was only released on "Radio 1," as they keep telling us online. :?

How did he manage it??

I'd be happy to be in the Top Twenty! It's not Top Ten, but then, we'll get there, when the album comes out. It will help the single along. Plus all the Amazon orders, all the other orders which have yet to be fulfilled because the singles were delayed from getting to the stores...

We'll get there---NO MATTER WHERE WE ARE TODAY!!!!

Congratulations, Fire Ball!!!!!!

MBrevard - what is there to congratulate about? 31 is a very dissapointing entrance, Meat must wonder why he bothers. Hi, dear friends! Sorry that I disappeared for a little while. I just did something and I'll tell you about it in a minute.

Let me try to address some of your concerns. THIRTY ONE is NOT bad!! Here is a man who has not put out a new album in 7 years!! You remember what he told us in one of his messages? "They didn't think that I could sell singles!"

Well, he CAN!! And he did it without all the stores having stock!! Think back to the kind of week we had here! What we have all been going through and working toward!!

We weren't sure that he was going to get onto the chart AT ALL! HE wasn't sure, either!!

But he did!! This 50+ (whatever) rocker is on the charts with Madonna and all the other groups, that I don't even know anymore. They've passed me by, I guess.

We HAVE to be proud of him. We have to be proud of ourselves because we helped to get him THIS far.

And next week, with all the stores having stock so that they will fulfill their waiting orders AND the album's release which will help move things along, the numbers are going to jump!!

Don't be disappointed. None of us here have any idea how many records it takes to make it to the charts. Maybe we all helped to sell THOUSANDS of them!!!!!

But with the kind of competition he had this week, I think that 31 is amazing!!

Now, friends, please, I just did something and I want you all to participate in it . Okay?

I just started a new thread congratulating Meat, 'er FireBall from all of us around the world who have been fighting for this!!

Go and sign it!! Let him know that we're here. We're PROUD of him. And more importantly, that we are NOT going to stop working for him until we get him all the way to NUMBER ONE!!!!

Go! Add your thoughts to this. But make it happy! Make it UPBEAT and MAKE IT HOPEFUL, because it IS!!!!

We've got to keep HIS spirits up, too, you know? I don't know if he's down about this or not, because it's been some week!!!!

But he's a fighter and he believes in this song and the album to come and so do all of us here!!!

Okay. I'd better post this or you'll think I've deserted you altogether. I won't! Not ever. We're an army and we've just begun the war!!!!!!

Go sign it now!!! Okay??

Love you all!!!

Hi, R! Thanks!! Will someone explain to me exactly what that chart means and why it's SO different from the chart the BBC1 talked about?? I am confused and would like to understand.

*****************

This next part was written earlier than the above addition--sorry for the confusion! 8)

Okay. Time to breathe a little. I think I typed that last message at about 100 mph or so it felt, because I wanted you all to read it quickly.

Now, let's go a little more slowly and think through all this. Let's go back to Meat's last message--you know, the one where he talked about the Meet and Greet. Go back and read it, if you need to in the General forum.

I have a theory. Let me tell you about it, then, please all of you, share your thoughts as to whether it might be right or not. Okay?

When I read that message now, I see that Meat, himself, realized that he wasn't going to get into the Top Ten, as he had originally wanted. He knew that then!!

He talked about being Number 1 on The Box, but as far as I know, he's only gotten as far as Number 3. This was to keep everyone's spirits up (maybe even his own--I don't know). It was an UPBEAT message for us!

That's why he told us that WITH OUR HELP, we'll move the single up this coming week and he'll go on the TOTP, which will certainly generate even more sales, the NEXT week! Right?

But this was his way of thanking everyone who had helped him to that point. He set up the Meet and Greet for Amsterdam. He did thank everyone. And then, he set in motion, without any of us understanding it at the time, what we would need to do for the coming week!

So, what do you think? After you've reread the message, does this make sense or not? That's how I'm reading it now. But I'd love to hear your thoughts.

Now, my dear friends, we must all put our heads and hearts together for him and work out a gameplan, so that we can move him up, as he deserves.

We know he's going to need airplay, so the request MUST continue. We need to keep doing everything we've been doing this past week.

Sin had an interesting idea about Text messaging that might prove helpful. Go back and read her earlier post, if you missed it. If you have ideas on how to go about this, PLEASE let us hear them.

What else can we do? The album's being released. Is there anything we can do which will tie both together --and help them both??

We need thoughts from everyone now. Every one of us is important to this project!! Every soldier counts!!

So, speak up. What do you think about all this? What ideas can we all come up with to allow people to hear this song, so they will want to buy it??

The "Singles Chart" is a tally of all singles sold in the given week. The "Rock Chart" is a tally of all the singles sold only in the 'rock genre' for the given week.

Hope that helps!!

I think #31 isn't bad at all. Come on ppl, you really tought that because "a few" members of this board bought "a couple" more singles, it would come in the top 10 at once? Be realistic here for a second plz :)

Which considering people were coming to buy antique glass and porcelain wasn't bad .. and I had the poster displayed and many said they would be going to buy it next week. So now I'm off to replace those 8 from www.hmv.co.uk Those who bought said they couldn't believe they were getting 3 tracks and a video for the money!!

I've left messages on the ROL and both OIFC message boards, and mailed the ROL list to get support for emailing/phoning/requesting on line more airplay

And apart from the CDs I sold £350 of stuff which made the long day worthwhile :)

Hi, friends! Hope your holiday celebration went (or is going) well for you. I think that most of us are pretty exhausted from the past week and the emotional anticipation of this morning's chart announcements. I know I am!!

Our holiday celebration here in California is about to begin. But I'll be checking the computer every once in a while to see if anyone is here and wants to chat. It might be best to just give things a rest for today and start fresh tomorrow.

I do think we all need to get together on Monday, if we can, and have a good old fashioned strategy session to figure out the best way to proceed from here. We've got to think things through.

Meat, obviously, this week, has the Rock market in his pocket!! Number 1--still hard to believe, but a joy to behold!! But it's the smaller market, obviously. So, we've just got to find ways to create more sales!! I know, if we put our heads together we can figure this out. There are a LOT of good brains here to put to use!!

Please bring with you any other ideas of how to reach people, how to get TV and Radio stations to play the single--and of course, this week is complicated in that we also have the album available--well, I HOPE we have the album available. Heaven help us if the same thing happens as last week. But Meat did say in this last message that the record company WAS shipping in lots of albums. So, here's hoping....

One more thing before I head off to prepare the holiday meal: Do you remember a couple days ago when Jen S. came by with this amazing idea for advertising CHSIB? She was going to create an animated e-card. Well, she has done it! So, in addition to Caryl's and Vicki's terrific cards to use, you can also use Jen's.

She has started a thread here at the CHSIB forum. It's called: Could This Be Of Possible Help in PR for Anyone?.... Do check it out when you can and you can also leave her comments at the thread!

Everybody's being SO creative here. It's wonderful to see and everything is bound to help us in our fight!!

Okay, I'm off for a little while. But I'll keep checking back when I can. I know that tomorrow is a Bank Holiday for many of you. That may interfere with your ability to come here. But if you can, stop by and bring us some ideas of how we can help Meat this week get the single into the Top Ten in the Pop charts!! (while keeping it Number 1 in the Rock chart, of course :D ).

All in all, it really wasn't such a bad day, nor a bad placing for him, under the circumstances. And now, we have our goal for the next week--let's fight for a Top Ten Position!!! We can do this--with everyone's help.

So, continue to join us when you can. We'll be here!!

See you a little later...

Love and peace to you all!!

I think this forum is ideal for sharing ideas and enthusiasm, though how far we need a co-ordinated strategy I'm less sure of. We're a group of people in different time zones with different lives to lead. What Meat needs to get to number one in the UK is sales. Sales will be improved by airtime.

The ideas and initiatives already started for trying to increase sales need to continue, as do the efforts to get CHSIB played as often as possible in the UK. I'd venture that the key focus should be to get the single to number one. Album sales tend to follow.

Let's continue to share ideas, and also share contact urls/email addresses for requesting the CD. BBC Radio is national and pretty instrumental in affecting sales. Here are a list of on-line request points and email addresses people can use:

Hi, Caryl! Just stopped by to see if anyone was here and I caught your wonderful message.

Oh, no, I NEVER meant that emailing should stop. I apologize if my last message was unclear on that. Emailing is absolutely VITAL to the success we hope to have this week. In fact, for people like myself, who are outside the country, sending emails to radio and TV stations is about all we can do to help, aside from finding people here who might be interested in purchasing the CD now, instead of waiting for the US release!!

So, no, please don't misunderstand me. Emailing remains number 1 on the list of things we all need to do when we can. And thank you SO much for putting this list together for us. This is exactly what many of us were begging for last week. It's going to be an invaluable resource for everyone!! Great to have it!!

Instead, what I was referring to was actually for the UK fans--putting our heads together to see if we could come up with new ways for fans to get out there and help get more exposure for CHSIB. We've already had wonderful ideas such as the posters and people, like Chris, playing it in his shop for 13 hours straight!! Or people seeking out their record shops to try to get them to play the single while people are shopping. OR showing the video in the shop!! As I think I mentioned before, that's an instant sale, if someone sees it or hears it and wants to get it!! It's gone!!

Sin has had many wonderful ideas. I'm still thinking about her Text messaging she mentioned earlier today. And I love her idea of taking it to places like the fair she went to with her kids and trying to get them to play it. Sadly, they didn't, but it was a great idea!! Also we have people driving around their towns playing the song on their radios loudly!!

These are all terrific and clever ways to get people to hear the song (and obviously, want it). But I'm sure that there are some we haven't thought of yet. And that's what I was thinking of in terms of a strategy session.

Naturally, not everyone will do everything on the list. The joy of having a list is that all fans can pick out exactly what they want or are able to do and that will be their contribution. Every fan is important that way. Everything they are able to do counts!!!

Uh oh. I just peeked and hadn't seen your latest message, Sin. Sorry 'bout that. I am intrigued with the Text idea and have been thinking about it since you first mentioned it. There MUST be a way we can figure out how to make it happen.

Anyway, I've got to get back to my family, but I'll check back again later, when I can. Thanks again, Caryl for adding such a valuable resource as that list is going to be this week!! Very much appreciated!!!!!! Wait 'til Mariella sees it! She's going to love it, because that's what she's been looking for, too!

Take care, all. See you a little later!!

Love ya!

I didn't assume that. I just queried the need for a "strategy" as such and think we continue doing what we're doing and sharing ideas for other things. And the key is imo airtime, so as many ways of achieving that seems to be the simple way forward.

Wow, what a bunch of troopers here. Haven't posted much, or at all, to this thread. Just been reading and doing, as my wife Jules has been posting (well and doing). I think everyone we know is going to get CHSIB for the next present occasion, LOL.

But here's a couple of thoughts I don't think I've seen mentioned in particular, if so excuse the repetion. There are several message threads on BBC Radio 1 and 2. If anyone if registered and has posts under their belt I think that carries more weight, please post. Not to say newbies shouldn't post, but a bunch of first posts looks like a spam campaign.

The important thing I noticed about Radio1 is that it is where the charts are listed. They also list new releases there, the CHSIB album release is not listed for Monday! There have been posts on the message list about this, if you have posted before, add your comment! If not, either post or better, email them about this disgraceful slight.

Radio 2 has a good thread on Meat's appearance on Johnny Walker. I've seen some from here post, hope everyone else who is registered will also. My next post will be a couple of funny samples and the direct url.

Here's the link to the Johnny Walker message list-
http://www.bbc.co.uk/cgi-perl/h2/h2.cgi?state=threads&board=radio2.johnniewalker&

You might have to cut and paste with that length. If you are registered at Radio2 please post. If not check out the posts and see how many are new posters, I don't think we want it to look like a spam campaign with all newbies, but a few new posters can't hurt, esp. from the UK. Here's a few funny quotes-

"really enjoyed the Meatloaf Drivetime Show and his special guest Johnnie Walker. Well done Johnnie for just letting him just get on with it."

"I heartly agree with the above comment. Great show, I was suppose to be working but downed tools just to listen - brilliant music and banter.
That man is exhausting - does he have any friends left?
Well done Johnnie - I'll have some more of that."

Had to share that with the troops here, cracked me up!

These last 2 posts of mine were just intended to help scout out more avenues to get the word out, hope it helps.

Going to check out the same here in Holland, the single is supposed to be out here today, but when I called Polydor about it last week, they said it will be in the shops tuesday. But with the opcoming concert in Amsterdam and airplay the song already has (from what people told me) in Holland, that will work out fine, I hope. Still the people at the Dutch forum also know about this, hope they are going to be activly involved in getting Dutch-airplay too. Know Guppie is. She's been mailing the Dutch media! Thanks!

Hope you won't be a stranger, T. Come on back, any time! And the same to Jules, of course!

Don't worry about having to go to work or about not being able to be here the next day or two. All of us certainly understand you'll be getting ready for the ML concert in Amsterdam!! I'm SO excited for you! And Tim, who was here yesterday said he was going, too! Is Michel going? Haven't written or heard from him for awhile. Probably, huh! Who would miss such an opportunity? A full concert and a M&G!!

Mariella, is this a standing venue or a seated one? (Don't know if you're still out there to answer.) I was just curious. Never been to a standing concert before, but we just signed up for one here in late June. I was wondering what they were like....I don't mind standing during Meat's music. It's harder to sit still than to be up and 'dancing' around!

Well, I'll be around my computer for much of the day, dear friends, working for Meat's sake, if y'all want to talk. Just be away from time to time, taking care of my folks.

Keep up the great work, everyone. We have a LONG week ahead of us. But, we can do this thing!! CHSIB is heading for the Top Ten, if we have anything to say about it!! And, we do!!!

Love you all... 8)

HMV Hounslow managed to get copy of Album Yipee!!!!! :D :D :D
At present they have 7 only in stock - a spokesperson said they had underestimated the demand for the single and album - more copies of the single will be out around Wednesday/Thursday - - Anyone who still wants this single should pre-order o.k. :!:

Way to go, Dottie!!!!!! You see, you helped create that market and demand for MORE albums and more CDs!!! Way to go, girl!!!!! We're proud of you!!

It's been a rough road in your area!! Let's hope this will be the start of better days. :D

Anyone stopping by here from there, go get 'em while they're hot. With only 7, they're not going to last long!!!!

Great start to the day, Dottie! Thanks for the good news!! Keep us informed on how it's going there. Okay?!

Love to you!

Top OF The Pops

The bad news is that this week there were 13 new entries in the Top 40 and CHSIB was the third lowest (it's still outside the Top Thirty).

The good news is that out of the whole chart, only one song moved up - all the others either dropped places, stayed the same or were new entries.

The other straw to clasp onto is the fact that Meat Loaf has already recorded a performance for TOTP so maybe.....!

Hi, Sue! Good Monday morning to you! Nice to have you here again!

Yes, it was a very rough first week for CHSIB in nearly every way possible, wasn't it?!!

As you said yesterday, look at the competition he had--all the others who had these new songs come in at the same time--Madonna, Robbie...it was TOUGH competition. And here's a man who hasn't had a single in a number of years...everything against him--except, of course, the love of thousands and thousands of people there! Granted, it was NOT the best of weeks to start, combined with all the CD distribution problems...

You know, I think it's a miracle he did as well as he did! And I'm pleased with it, under all the circumstances, believing he'll do even better this next week.

With the TOTP performance in the can, so to speak, there's always the possibility of it. Right? I mean it's their tape. They're not going to throw it away?? Does a song only stay viable for a few weeks, in terms of getting an appearance on there? Just curious...

I think you have just provided all of us here with that little bit of extra incentive to work even harder than before to make this thing happen!

Let me ask you something, if you don't mind. Being Number 1 on the Rock Charts: Does that not mean anything to Meat? Is it only the Pop chart which is important to him right now?

I've been trying to find this out, but no luck so far!

Thanks, Sue, for the news and the ray of hope! It's a quarter to 4 in the morning, California time and I could use all the rays I can get! Appreciate it!!

Take good care!

Rainer

Could we start a thread, but right at the top of CHSIB message so it's the first thing people see on which we put JUST BRIEF descriptions of things people can do to help promote the CD?

A lot of ideas are getting swamped by lengthy posts, chat, congratulations, encouragement etc .. and whilst these may be helpful to this group, as far as fresh visitors are concerned I suspect only the staunchest will wade through all these pages trying to find the ones that simply and clearly tell them of practical things they can do to help promote it for Meat

But I think it needs to be at the top or stand out in some way so as to catch the eye. And a strict rule of BREVITY, key actions, liks to useful lists of info etc

Original Sin just rolled right off the damn chair when I hit "see your message" and saw what you'd written :) At the exact same time I think I was writing mine to Rainer .. lol ..

My concern is that it must be limited to brief, practical ideas .. perhaps with a note at the top saying Discuss on .. This thread is being kept just for practical advice on things you can do to help Meat, and I think it needs to be positioned so it's the first thing that catches the eye .. and we need Rainer's help with that

Let me ask you something, if you don't mind. Being Number 1 on the Rock Charts: Does that not mean anything to Meat? Is it only the Pop chart which is important to him right now!

Has anybody heard about how Meat Loaf regards being #31 in the charts?

Before I get started, let me just point out that the following is MY interpretation of the facts (MY opinion and nobody else’s).

Personally I don’t think that #1 in the rock charts is anything to get too excited about. It’s good that he’s #1 there but the song that is #2 in the Rock Chart (Linkin Park – Somewhere I Belong) is only #35 in the Singles chart and the song that is #3 in the Rock Chart (Def Leppard – Long Long way To Go) is only #40 in the charts. The rest of the Rock Chart aren’t even in the Top 40 Singles chart which should put this in some form of perspective.

If you’re saying “yipeee, he’s #1 in the rock charts” then, IMHO you should equally be saying “darn, he’s not in the Indie chart” and “darn, he’s not in the Dance chart” and “darn, he’s not in the R&B chart” and so on. All of those are just charts for totally different genres of music.

It’s the Singles chart that matters the most. (Incidentally Madonna’s new entry debuted this week at #2. Robbie Williams at #4 and Blur at #5.)

Personally I dread to think about how badly CHSIB would have done if it hadn’t been for Meat Loaf’s plea on this board. I imagine that loads of fans have bought more copies than they would normally have done so (I personally know a couple of people who have bought 20 or more each) and it still *only* got to #31 – not even in the Top 30.

I know that there were dreadful distribution problems but I wonder how much actual airplay CHSIB received? I have the radio on in my salon 11 hours a day 7 days a week and I keep switching around the stations but, other than once (on Virgin), the only time I’ve heard any station play the song has been when Meat Loaf has been in the studio (I’m in the London area).

Again, this is just my opinion but I think that most Meat Loaf fans will probably now have bought the single so it’s time to try to get non-Meat Loaf fans to buy it. The only way to do that is for it to get loads of airplay.

It’s just a suggestion but I think that we should concentrate this week on e-mailing and telephoning radio stations asking them to play it (say that it’s #31 in the Official Singles charts and #1 in the rock singles chart).

I know that most people on this board like the song just because it’s by Meat Loaf but if you actually listen to the song, it’s strong in it’s own right. Unfortunately in some circles some people will discount the song because it’s by Meat Loaf so that’s something else that the song has to get above.

A lot of radio stations are listed near the bottom of the front page of http://www.radiofeeds.co.uk/ but does anyone know of any other sites that list more?

My two locals stations (London) are programming.enquiries@heart1062.co.uk and Studio@magicradio.com Also Virgin have a free phone number 0800 30 1215.

Sue
http://www.KasimInfo.com

Again, I’d like to reiterate that all the above is just my personal opinion.

Another thought .. We're happy to host a section of practical ideas to promote the CD .. if people send theirs to me we'll get them on a page or pages .. organised so people can find their way about. Perhaps we could have links from other Meat sites, including this one, direct to that special section?

You can all see the section direct on:

http://www.republic-of-loafdom.com/World%20News/CHSIB/Help.htm

It has no ROL promotion (apart from having to have keywords in the url of course) It's quick to load and easy to use.

21 Apr 2003, 13:49
Hi again! Welcome Caryl and Sin. Nice to have you both back!

I think that the separate thread of links and helpful ideas for the CHSIB campaign is an excellent idea! Why don't you go ahead and start it, Caryl! That way, people just coming to help the fight can get an immediate sense of what they can do. And then this thread will serve, as it has, for everyone to come and share what they're doing, encourage others, get encouragement if they reach a point where they need it, that is! This one has certainly always had a more 'family-feeling' to it, and I think that's been very useful and comforting so far. But as the fight continues and hopefully new folks join us, the idea of having a separate thread with campaign plans and strategies, links, etc. Is a great one. Go for it, Caryl!!

Now, Sue, I understand what you're saying. In fact, that's exactly what we were talking about late yesterday. Emailing and phone calling have to remain the center of this struggle. Airplay is our friend and, from what you were saying, our enemy! So, YES!! Absolutely right! Everyone MUST keep contacting and requesting CHSIB be played!!

Thanks for the link, too, Sue. I just checked it out and it's wonderful! Going to be a BIG help for everyone!!

And with that, I'm off to get to work, emailing!!

Take care, everyone!

MB Before starting a new thread I'd like to have Rainer's response .. as I said just one more CHSIB thread at the bottom won't be that much of a help imo, so I'd rather Rainer started it with some guidelines on keeping it an informatioin giving rather than a discussion thread .. or I can see it winding up just as unwieldy for the newcomer as this one must be.

Some things are effective initiated as soon as the thought strikes .. some are better set up carefully and right imo. This proposed tbread is just such a case in point.

Does anyone have a spare $20,000 US?

That is roughly how much we'd need to get the single to gold status (5,000 copies) in New Zealand. That's of course, if the single gets released here. Of course, not all number ones (or songs placed further down the singles chart) necessarily get gold or platinum status, so to get a number one in New Zealand might even be less than that. But I'm just guessing here.

Yes, I remember something about NOTP--you went to some of those, didn't you? But will this be your first full concert?

Both the single and the album are available there now, aren't they? Come on, Tim. You and Michel even have a terrific website you could be using to encourage people to buy CHSIB!!!

What makes me think that Mariella has already had this discussion with you??

Okay! Let me ask you this--in code, sort of--will there be a new site addition after the 23rd?? PLEASE let me know. Okay?

Cerysmeatloaf--welcome!! Glad to see you! But very sorry to hear that there are no singles in your area of Wales!! Please, if you can, keep contacting your local shops and asking about it. This way, they'll start thinking that a LOT of people want it (and they WILL, once it's available) and they'll begin to stock it! Keep trying. Okay? And let us know when the singles DO show up there and where they are. That way, others who stop by here will know what's available and where.

Re emailing Radio Stations, the urls are fine as you have to complete on-line. And I think most have spam filters now, so make sure you put a suitable subject heading in.

We'll still maintain our list in ROL. I fear many peole will give up if they have to do the searching I had to do, and many addresses I found were defunct anyway.

What's a way round the spam programmes, if at all? Having a key word on the main thread and getting people to email for lists of addresses using the keyword? I'll be around and don't mind responding to them. What do you think?

Hi MB, it's good to know that I was missed. I don't get on as much on the weekends as I have my six year old son practically attached at the hip when he isn't at school and I gladly do things with him then. After he goes to bed and while I'm at work---then I love being here! My husband keeps saying "why are you always on THAT website?"

I got a few emails back from online CD sellers, they each said that they don't stock singles but that they will be offering the full CD. I also got form emails back from several Radio 2 DJ's today, but no "original" information. I can't wait to get my CD, and I am really looking forward to watching the single and CD fly up the charts once people have heard it!

Hi, guys! Just got back from lunchtime with the folks! Do you ever stop to think what a strange world this is? I mean, here I am in California and it's 12:30 p.m., for you, Dottie, it's 8:30 p.m. and Mariella, I think you are 9 hours difference from me, so it's 9:30 at night. And here we are, so far away from each other and yet, so very close! The net has changed the world forever--and mostly for the better. Guess I can't say all things are better--hackers, etc. But still, it's an exciting time to be around.

Thank you, Dottie, for keeping us up to date. I'm glad you're sending some off to Australia. I wonder if it's the same situation there that Shane in New Zealand was complaining about this morning--NO SINGLES!! I hope not. But we haven't really heard anything from Australia, have we? Hummm. Hadn't thought of that. There's gotta be folks visiting here from down under. Hope they'll stop by and let us know what's going on. Are you originally from Oz, Dottie or did some of your family just move down there?

Looking forward to hearing from you tomorrow.

Mariella! Thanks, kiddo! Very kind words that touched my heart today. And you already know how I feel about you! I didn't write you back because I wanted you to have the time with your kids and get some rest. You worked hard today--both at your job and for Meat, here. And you've got some pretty exciting days ahead!! But I will write you later and you'll have it when you wake up!

Time differences...

Been quiet today. Bank Holiday in England. Here in the US everyone is back to work, but kids are home from school. I hope, whether everyone has the chance to stop by here to chat and share or not, you are still doing their best to get airplay for the record!! If we don't keep pushing, friends, well, you know the answer to that. And Meat deserves better from us! So, please keep those emails and phone calls coming. There are lots of places now where you can find lists of places to contact!!

And if you hear anything, be sure to come by and let us know. :D

Speaking of getting back to work, while my folks have their afternoon nap, that's where I'm headed now. But if any of you want to chat, I'll be around....

Talk with you later, friends...

I asked if they had anymore, and they looked at me like i was a madwoman, which i probably am,(no comments, please sin!!!), and asked if i was sure i really wanted the eight copies that i already had. I said i was, and i even made them go into the stockroom to see if they had more, but they said they hadn't, and they weren't sure when they'll get some more in..i'll hound them till they do!!!!

Hiya MBrevard,

To be honest i aint had much chance to listen to the radio today, but willdo tomorrow, for sure. I'm quite friendly with a couple of the DJ's and they know im a Meat fan, so they do play him quite a bit anyway - thats Swansea Sound btw.

Will be onto them again tomorrow to tell them to play it...i wont ask them...just tell them   :twisted

Anything i can do to help Meat get to number 1, i will

Ah, Heat!!! You're terrific!!! DJ friends!! YES!!! Now, that's what we DO need! More DJs on our side!! Hey, maybe your friends have other DJ friends and so on....Too much to ask for?? Well, guess I'm ever hopeful.

Can you give me an idea of the population in your area? I'm over here in the States, and sadly, have never had the good fortune to make it over to your beautiful country! Love to someday, though.

Anyway, your radio station goes out to about how many--if you can give us a guess? I'm just curious. If you don't know, that's okay.

This is great news and you ARE being a big help, believe me!! I'm SO glad you stopped by this afternoon. I'm not kidding about really brightening up the day!!

Hi, JacenSolo! Another new person joins us! Welcome!! Nice to see you!

There's been no final word for the US release yet. I'm waiting for it, too! But I think there have been contract delays or something like that. Heat said she's going to Cardiff. What shows will you be going to--do you know yet?

JacenSolo
22 Apr 2003, 00:06
I'll be going to the Dallas/Ft Worth area shows for certain...not sure what else, depends on what is scheduled in the area. 8)

How many times have you gotten to see Meat live? Do you think he plays your area any differently than the rest of the country because that's his homebase?? I was just curious about that.

What's a way round the spam programmes, if at alll

If you are creating a basic HTML page, it is very easy to hide e-mail addresses from spambots with a simple line of javascript.

If you are creating a FLASH page it is even easier - there is no HTML for the spambot to read.

As far as the forums go, I could not tell you - I am not that familiar with .php and the like.

6 times, plus a private party for the release of "Neighborhood" (where he did the world premiere of the video for I'd Lie For You (big honor), he then hung around signed everything, answered questions........and a meet and greet at a local restaurant before the McFarlin shows.
I'm not sure he plays it differently, personally he seems to give 150% every night, there are alot of family around after the show though, so more people to hang out with waiting for Meat & company.....
But, I am proud that one of my vocal heroes is a Dallas boy ! 8)

Hi, David! Home from work? Thanks again, for this morning, mister! :D

JacenSolo--Interesting name, by the way. I like it! :)

SIX times plus a private party!!! Whoooo! I'm SO envious!! You've been an ML fan for a long time! I just saw my first two shows this past summer. And Meat's coming back to the same venues this year. So, I've got my tickets already! Can't wait.

But one of these is THE VERY FIRST SHOW OF THE TOUR!! I've been trying to get someone to tell me if that's a good thing or a bad thing!! :P (If you're reading this, Meat, I'm only teasing!!)

What do you think of Meat's new single and album. Have you gotten copies of them yet?

JacenSolo
22 Apr 2003, 00:29
Well, I got my German copy of the album about 3 weeks ago, I'm still waiting on both singles to arrive (God Bless Ebay)
I'm liking the album more, everytime i listen to it, my first impression was "this is pretty good", and now it's at "wow, gotta play it again!!!"
So, are you in the States? If so, where?
btw: the name is from the Star Wars novels, one of Han & Leia's kids :D

MBrevard
22 Apr 2003, 00:35
You got the German release! That was smart. At the time I ordered, they had it listed that both the German and UK release would be the same, so I ordered through Amazon UK. Then, of course, the dates changed. And I'm STILL waiting!!!! But not for much longer, I hope. The Amazon order shipped over the weekend. And I'm expecting singles from HMV UK, which were ordered last week, when Meat began asking for everyone's help!

So, I haven't had the chance to listen to the finished album yet. But I've heard the individual songs. I'd tell you my favorites, but let me ask YOU first! Which songs do you like best?

I'm from Northern California--up in the San Francisco Bay area--well, in a little, little town quite far away from S.F., but still...it's a beautiful place to live. So, the two venues I'll be going to so far are Mountain Winery in Saratoga and Konocti in Kelseyville.

The first one is a very small venue--only about a thousand seats. The second is about 5000. Which do you prefer, since you've seen Meat so many times--the smaller venues or the larger ones.

Also, have you ever been to a standing venue? I'm thinking about one this year, but I've never had that experience before.

Hmmmm .... I was only planning on seeing Meat when he's on the East Coast / Philadelphia area in the States. But I haven't seen my sister for a long time ... maybe it'll be time for a visit when Meat's in the Dallas / Fort Worth Area :)

personally, I prefer the smaller venue (McFarlin Audutorium is a small theater), I've not been to a stand up gig.
Hard to decide on a favorite, the 2 I'm listening to the most right now are the 2 singles, and You Were Right, I Was Wrong....for now, I may change and be playing others next week. I'm concentrating on the singles, so I can learn them well enough to sing them  (i'm a karaoke freak, go ahead, laugh, but it's the only time i get to sing in public and I'm not toooooo bad, i'm NOT Meat though !!)

And, so, I ramble on....

Excellent !!!!
I'm still waiting for the tickets to go on sale for the show at the Mohegan Sun Casino in Connecticut :)) It's located on an Indian reservation in a beautiful location ... I've been wanting to go back for a visit for a long time. And what better excuse than a great show, eh?

Karaoke! I'm not going to laugh! I don't have the nerve to get up there and sing, myself, Jacen, but I give people a LOT of credit for having the courage to!!

And you know, that's a great way to bring some of Meat's new music to the US--if you start singing them now!! :) I think that's a good idea!

I enjoyed the smaller venue, too. But then, my seats were closer in and I know that made a difference.

I think right now I like Testify and Love you Outloud the best. I can't seem to stop playing those songs! But I love them all! Can't wait to hear them in the order they were meant to be played in!!

Hi, Jules!! Love you! Welcome back!! Hope you had a good day!!

Meat Loaf shows always evolve as the tour progresses. If you have ever had the chance to review any of the archives ( *wink* ) you will notice some songs get longer and some songs get shorter...guitar and piano solos change. No two Meat Loaf shows are ever the same!

MBrevard
22 Apr 2003, 01:26
Look at me! I have THREE BATS!!! I told R just 2 or 3 weeks ago that I was never going to make it out of Rookie!!!!

A Miracle!!

Yes, I watched very carefully over the summer the reviews as the tour made its way through the rest of the country and I noticed some of the differences.

But you know, David, this one is going to be such a different show--with new music from the album!! Here is Meat and Co busy, as they need to be with the promotion. I'm wondering how in the world they're going to have time to learn the new songs??!! Meat said they only knew 4 for Amsterdam...

The news you bring, though, surprises me because Meat said on one show--or perhaps it was during the chat, that they were going to be in the UK until about May 5th. Maybe plans have changed? Or maybe he'll be staying on while the rest of the group come home to rehearse!

I haven't seen the new message at Kasim's site. Have to go look at it later.

Good morning everyone! Boy, wasn't I a sleepy bear today? 4:14 in the a.m. Caliornia time. And great to see people here already!

Mariella, hi and hope you have a great day at work. Sorry that I wasn't able to write you as yet. Will as soon as I can. I bet you ARE excited about the ML concert in Amsterdam tomorrow!! I bet there are a LOT of happy Meat Loaf fans in Holland today!! (even more tomorrow! )

Hi, Cerysmeatloaf! Thanks so much for coming back today! And how terrific that you're phoning all your local DJs! A lot of people have had the same response--"We don't have the record, so we can play it." So, folks have offered to loan/buy/whatever copies and send them over.

But be sure and ask them first, before you do anything like this. Sadly, some stations have told our people that it is NOT on their playlist, so they cannot play it whether they have a copy or not.

The good thing this week is that you can tell radio stations who tell you this that CHSIB is now 31 on the Pop Chart and NUMBER ONE on the Rock Charts. Not sure if that will make a difference to them, but it's certainly worth a try.

Please keep us informed on how you're doing. Okay? Great job!!

Well, late or not, I'm off to start my emailing for the day. But I'll be around if anyone wants to say hi!

Let's make this a productive Tuesday, friends, for Meat's sake! See you a little later....

Hi, Sin! Good morning! Nice to see you here, as always. :)

You know, all the responses I have gotten back so far have been form ones, which has really begun to upset me. It makes me feel as though they are NOT reading what I am sending. You know what I mean?

Perhaps this is their way of responding, but it isn't very satisfying. If I were in their audience, I would not be happy with just a form.

Hope others will write in here and let us know of their experiences so far!!

Thanks, Sin! Good question! Keep up the great work!!!!

CarylB
22 Apr 2003, 14:45
Generally form replies, but they must get quite a lot of mail .. and those are better than being returned as non-deliverable! Generally I've only had specific replies if they are saying they won't be playing it as it's not on their list or because they haven't got it .. in which case they get a reply and an offer of a copy.

One snippy madam said as they were funded through the BBC licence fees they didn't play requests and "our music is chosen by a computer according to our listeners credentials ". That got a pretty stiff response from this BBC licence payer!!

In answer to your question about how many listeners, there is about 800,000 listeners in the swansea sound area - we cover all of south wales and into devon too. We have been voted one of the most popular local radio stations in britain, so hopefully loads of people will have heard CHSIBM today!!!!!!

I was just writing a response to Bren when everything was gone and I said to myself, "OMG, Bren, I think we broke the place!!"

You know, I've been here so much these past 10 days or so, it honestly felt as though I'd been locked out of my home!!!! Didn't you, guys?

I had this image, if it went on much longer, of banging fists on the monitor screen, while yelling, "LET ME IN!! LET ME IN!!!"

Thank heavens, it didn't get to that!

Nice to see you all again. Let's hope that doesn't happen again for a while!!

Bren, it's been so long, I can't remember what I was going to say to you?! :?

Only kidding. I love Why Isn't that Enough? too. I love the sheer power of Meat's voice on it. Wonderful song! Hope he does it during the tour!

I love that story about your kids sharing Meat with YOU!! You know, I thought I saw a 'meshurp werfifer' make a comment somewhere earlier today. And if memory serves me well, they had a really beautiful avatar. Is that one of yours? :)

Well, I hope everyone who's been locked out of our home here for the past 2 hours or more has put the time to good use. I've been sending emails, since that's really all I can do from here. No good responses as yet to report. But we all keep trying.

Thanks, cerysmeatloaf! Great news! SIX more copies of CHSIB sold!!! Did you have any problems finding them in Cardiff?

I've heard a number of complaints about the copy protection on the video and people not being able to play it. The one thing I've heard, since I haven't been able to work through the problem, myself, yet, is that you need to have the latest version of Media Player. But I know someone will come along here later today (as soon as everyone realizes we're back online) and help you further.

Hey, great news about the singles!! Wish we could sell out every store in the country. I guess that's what we're doing--just one store, more person at a time. Eventually, we'll get there!!

Hi MBrevard!

I had just clicked submit when every thing started going funny and mum has spent all her time since then blaming me for breaking it(well when she wasn't festing on CHSIB!)

I am proud to say I have been a meatloaf fan since the age of ten, although it does have its draw backs as i haven't had as long to enjoy his singing as you old people!

buying more than one copy of the CHSIB single and album has its advantages as it stops our family squabbling over them as we all get one each!

mum was going to go outside for some daylight but it appears she only got as far as the cd player! i can feel the floor boards vibrating!

HI!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Ah, I'm glad you wrote in! You know, that's a really unusual name. I have to ask you where did it come from? And I absolutely LOVE that avatar. It's gorgeous!!

I'm sorry you got blamed for the website going down!! It IS an odd feeling, isn't it, when everything just goes??

Well, even though you haven't listened to Meat as long as the rest of us--look at it this way--you'll be listening to these albums and singles a LOT longer than we will!!!! There are positive ways of looking at everything!!

Do all your friends like Meat, too??

And you're right about the singles. If you have more than one Meat fan in the family, there's bound to be squabbles with only one.

I'm afraid when I get the album over here, MY parents, who are 89 years old and love Meat, too, are going to take it from me. I think I'd better get a second, just to be sure!!

Say hi to your mom and tell her to enjoy the CD. She's waited a long time for it!

A few of my freinds are in to meatloaf those who aren't tend to keep their mouths shut on the subject of music as i tend to go about how marvellous meaty is and how rubbish modern groups are until they give in or walk away in disgust!

Doesn't sound like too bad a day to me! Anytime you can spend the day listening to Meat and be with friends online is my definition of a great day!

Give your kids a big hug from me, and let us know if you hear the song played on the radio in your area.

And if you get The Box on TV, let us know how he's doing there.

Love to everyone.

Hay all

Got my copy of the album today, Love You Out Loud is great, there was only 3 copies left on the shelf, so that's good right?

Don't know if this is new or me just being slow but the Box are advertising the album and CHSIB is still at #3 in their little chart thing.

The single back up at #457 in Amazon UK's sales ranking and the album is at #5.

Wow! So much to respond to. Let me take you one at a time!

meshurp werfifer. I nearly fell on the floor when I heard your description of your name here!! It's been a while since I've laughed that hard!! I love it!!!!!!!!!!!!!

No, we do NOT see your mom's avatar. At least, I don't on my computer. Sorry.

Keep talking Meat up to your friends and play them this new CD. The more people who hear it....Well, you know the routine by now. Right?

Sin!! Welcome back. Sorry you had to leave us and go to work today, but at least you left your own little army at home fighting the good fight, so to speak. Hey, calling radio stations, etc. is better than having them calling up the Home shopping shows, right?? :P Sorry, couldn't resist that one!!

Jen!! THANK YOU! I've been trying to find out how Meat was doing on the Box! Number 3 still--terrific!! Hope people keep calling it in!!

And only 3 copies left on your store's shelf. I think that's great news!!! Is this a big store in your area?? You know, keep calling them to see if they have it in stock! That way, they'll order a LOT more next time, thinking that there's a large demand for it. And of course, we know there IS, once people realize it's out there!!

Dropped a little at Amazon, but still not too shabby!! The numbers have GOT to be better this week!! But let's all keep working to make them so!!

Thanks, everyone for checking back in with us. It really helps to keep the morale up, if you know what I mean!!

Before I forget, Cerysmeatloaf had a question about the video that isn't playing for her. Can anyone help her with it?

If not, I'll keep bringing it up every now and then, in case someone new is here and can answer it.

Thanks, guys!!

I think that getting posters into local shops is a BIG thing!! Most shops around here wouldn't even consider doing something like that!!

Congratulations!!

But then, I guess I'm like you and I'd probably go peeking around the next day to see if they did it just to 'get you off their back'. Hope the posters are still there!!

Keep us informed! You're doing great!! Thank your kids for all of us, too. Okay?

And only 3 copies left on your store's shelf. Is this a big store in your area??

Yeah it was the biggest HMV store in Edinburgh, the shelf in question was the new releases bit, didn't have time to see if they had it anywhere else in the store.

When I went out yesterday the shelves already only had a few left and it looked like there had been plenty of shelf space, i mean shops dont leave empty space on purpose do they - Both Woolies and HMV said it had been selling well.

I have a list of BBC local radio programme editors. Email me for them caryl@republic-of-loafdom.com So far 3 have written back to express interest, including Radio Merseyside library who asked for the CD for their files.

Mercury doesn't seem to have sent out any info re the single to local radio stations (presumably hence Meat's comments about "they didn't think I could sell a single" .. I've started up two threads on Mercury message boards:

Please go and give them hell!!

Also remember the thread on the BBC Playlist message board .. on previous page here
